It had been a good sevenday for the blonde greenrider, she and Condoroth were excelling in training and lessons, she'd had a bit of free time to enjoy herself, and well, one of her favorite people suddenly had a lot more time for her. Currently, she was with that person, Uuni drinking her habitual klah and Kess drinking a blend of iced tea and juice. They were about to share a light lunch and some time together before going their separate ways in the Weyr.
"I'm feeling confident that Condor'll be starting her solo glides in the next fornight or two." They'd been discussing the weyrling lessons, and Kess was about to continue when she spotted a familiar face, her strange half-smile she gave to accquaintences appearing on her lips.
"Rawni, how are you?" Polite to a fault, the blonde young woman got to her feet, gesturing at the table. "Please, sit down. Catching a bite to eat between chores?" It was awful crowded, even with the Igen Weyr transfers. It made sense for the younger girl to sit by a familiar face. Kess bore her no ill well, as the girl rarely held a grudge.

Uuni was busy peering at Kess's juice and iced tea. She hated tea, and she had quite a good idea of why.
Grinning as Kesslan began to inform her about training, Uuni turned her eyes up towards the girl instead of the girl's drink and took a sip of her own klah.
With her mouth partially open to say something, Uuni paused as Kess's eyes focused on something and then turned in that direction herself.
She quirked a brow at Rawni and rotated her attention between the two girls. Just what was their history? Uuni very much remembered Kesslan knowing of the girl. Was it merely because Avery and Rawni were roommates and Avery and Kesslan had close ties?
"Hi, beautiful," she said with a chiming voice she reserved only for people she was teasing. "Long time, no see. Miss me?"

Rawni moved towards the gaggle of females with a heavy scowl on her features. It had been a long morning of chores and even though she didn't have a particular Craft, sometimes it felt like she had more to do within her day than other people that she know. Either way, she wasn't pleased with how her day had been going.
Murmuring quietly to herself that yes, she was, in fact, catching a quick meal between her morning and afternoon duties, she sat across from Uuni and rolled her eyes at the greeting.
"Oh yes. Ever so much." She responded, sarcasm heavy in her bland tone.
And then she saw Avery. Who looked... more than fabulous. Practically drooling, Rawni managed to keep the emotion that felt very blatant to her off of her features by some act of a higher Being. Motioning for the other female to sit down, the dark-haired roommate attempted to swallow her klah without choking. By some other act of a supreme Being.

Avery, a stunning, bright grin on her face, took the free space next to Rawni, brushing against the girl and not paying her much mind as she bent over the table to press a kiss to Kesslan's cheek in greeting. This was nothing out of the ordinary, the brunette always saying hello to the greenrider first, however the brush of lips to cheek was a bit longer than usual, and she seemed excited about something. The lingering contact cause the blonde recipiant to lower her gaze to the table, a much more geniuine smile lighting her features.
"Kessy you clever thing!" She wiggled her fingers at Uuni in greeting, settling into her seat and taking Kess's drink for her own. "Why didn't you tell me you'd been writing to Daddy!"
Grinning full force, the blonde shrugged, obviously feeling a mix of pleasure and embarressment. "Are you leaving, then?" Dark eyes scanned the brunette's choice in clothing, her tight, perfectly tailored pants, a scarf covering her fierce curls, a revealing shirt... Jewelry.
"Yes! Thank you for arranging the ride with your friends." Opening up the conversation to others, she drummed her fingertips on the table. "I'm going home today. Kessy was nice enough to ask a rider to take me back."
A good mood? Certainly. Glancing over, she noticed Rawni's gaze on her [to be expected, everyone should be looking at her] and raised a brow at her apparent difficulty swallowing.
"Are you alright, darling?"

Rawni's response was as good as gold. "Aw, I'm touched. I missed you, too." It was a statement that was as sincere as Rawni's sarcasm.
The smile left when Avery came, and it was only by pure luck that Uuni saw Rawni's expression. It was mostly due to the fact she was avoiding Avery's gaze, in fact, and that she had to lean wide to give Kesslan and her cheek-kissing greeter space.
As talk of Avery leaving drifted across the space between them, Uuni swallowed and tucked her hair behind her ear with her left hand. There was only a single moment where she glanced towards Avery with regret and then she focused solely on Rawni. It was better than staring across at Avery like the rest of the wanking group around her.
Where Avery was showing concern over Rawni, however, Uuni was inwardly laughing. Her eyes twitched in their position as they went between Avery's form and Rawni's jawgape.
Not that it wasn't obvious, but this was Uuni's specialty.
"Oh goodness, Rawni. Why don't you just ask her out on a date?"

Rawni let the information pass through her mind without a reaction, first. Then when it sank in, she tried to explain the depth of her displeasure at the concept. Having the room to herself would be a new thing, but only for a few days, at max. She would be able to come and go without having to worry as to whether a guest was inside speaking with Avery about some topic or another.
Her jaw tightened slowly but surely, and a spew of negative thoughts came to the forefront of her mind.
Avery didn't know how she felt and that was how she wanted to keep it. Ralke would never let her hear the end of it, and then it would just be another thing that would cause him to haunt her every move. And poor Avery wouldn't be rid of the beast of a human. he was too overprotective for his and her own good.
The 'darling' nearly made her flush with desire, but Rawni restrained herself. This setting was not the time to make her emotions known. The small gestures and the brushes between them were only friendly. There was nothing else going on.
Get a grip on yourself, Rawni.
She managed to nod before her mouth fell open. Far enough to hit her klah, it must have. She rubbed the bottom of her chin, her mouth still agape, as she tried to identify whether the drink was dripping from her features.
...Rawni was going to strangle the minx.
Barely holding back from leaping across the table, her grip on the cup in front of her tightened to the point that her knuckles were white.
"I'm afraid you are... mistaken, Uuni." She finally managed to spit out, hardly capable of handling the ridiculousness of the situation at hand.

Kess tensed, jaw tight as she briefly made eye contact with Avery before looking down stubbornly at the table. She was absolutely silent, unresponsive.
Avery, on the other hand, burst into laughter, loosly flapping a hand at Uuni in delight. "Oh, you." Regardless of her calculating mind [which was well aware that she could possibly seduce Rawni to drive Ralke insane, however unaware that Rawni -actually- liked her], she didn't make it apparent that she believed Uuni's implications at all. "Wouldn't it be marvelous indeed if everyone was as in love with me as you are?"
Instead she made things light, easy, she reached over to slide her hand over Rawni's where it gripped the mug, squeezing just slightly before she pulled it away and handed her own glass to Kesslan.
"Would you mind getting me a refill, Kessy?" It seemed demanding, but Kess's mute nod and instantaneous response showed to the observant that she was happy for the excuse to leave the table, if only for a moment.

Uuni saw the muscles higher up twitch first before she followed down the chain reaction to the girl's hands. The corners of her lips perked, but she said nothing as Rawni went on to explain her mistake.
Avery's laughter interrupted anything she could have said, and it was only then that she locked gazes with the other girl.
"Ah, well, she wants you," Uuni responded, ignoring the part about love. Uuni passed it off as a natural defense against Avery's own feelings.
She only gave one glance towards Kesslan as the girl left, before dropping her voice to a thickened, slow tone. "Maybe it's not love, but I bet if Avery whispered something dirty in your ear, your pupils would get big and dark, wouldn't they, Rawni?"
She was doing the girl a favour, right? Help out Rawni and Avery at the same time. Avery would have something to distract herself from her emotions, and Rawni would get the roommate she'd clearly lusted after.

Rawni really shouldn't have allowed her emotions to get the better of her. But, well. That wasn't her style. Uuni was going to ruin everything, and that meant that the raven-haired female was right her accessment of the situation.
The slap was loud and would have easily echoed in a more empty room. It left an angry red mark on her left cheek and Rawni hoped it stung worse than a bee. Uuni's skin turning red matched her temper as the following words came out of her mouth in a quiet, dangerous sounding stream.
"If you continue to suppose that you can continue to open your mouth without properly thinking about the possible repercussions, your face is going to be a pleasant shade of purple, by the end of this conversation."
A lesser person would have gotten up and walked away, but Rawni defiantly kept her seat, lifted her chin, and took a sip of her klah and kept Uuni's gaze straight within her own.

"Come, now...
Avery, of course, found herself a mixture of amused and outraged, at both female Candidates. Uuni's slow, low tones definitely got her own thoughts racing, however, she prefered to do her own seductions and didn't accept 'gifts' of sex. She wasn't able to focus on her roommate's reaction, as the girl leaned across the table aggressively and... Still, Rawni's response was relatively unexpected.
Before she could so much as shout, someone else was involved. Kess, having already grabbed another drink and been on her way back, was just behind Uuni as the loud smack was heard [and seen]. Left fist tightening, her dark eyes were cold as she spoke, husky voice quiet.
"Get up." The blonde looked startlingly calm, much as she had the night Avery and Uuni had come to her weyr, and she set the glass down on the table, one calloused hand landing softly on Uuni's shoulder. A squeeze, as if to assure herself of the brunette's relative well-being. She hadn't heard the conversation, but she didn't need to.
Mine? Condorth's anxious voice touched Kesslan's mind and got near the same emotions as when she'd first hatched, causing the green to vacate the lake and hurry along toward the dining hall. What is it Mine? I will take care of it if you tell me what to do.
"Kessy..." Avery's tone was almost worried, and whatever she was going to say was refused.
"No. I want her to get up." Kess's jaw was tight and she lifted her chin, to signify she was speaking to Rawni directly. "Now. We're going to go outside."

Oh, she should have figured out what was happening when Rawni first leaned towards her. She'd been expecting some harsh words, a growl or two, maybe a threat, but a physical threat was something else.
Head turned just a touch to the side and one hand instinctively to the location of contact, Uuni had little reaction at first.
Then she closed her eyes tight and made a hissing noise between her teeth. "Ow, <********>, you hit hard." A few more grimaces later and a finger swept on the inside of her mouth to make sure there was no blood, and Uuni seemed at least remotely recovered.
"Look," Uuni started to say, and then Kesslan's voice chilled her skin.
She turned her head, jaw protesting heavily all the while, in the direction of the sound and the touch that was less comforting than it was terrifying.
When had she showed up? Had she heard anything? She glanced over to Rawni and Avery for support and found nothing.
Seeing that no one else was likely to do anything, that no one else being Avery, Uuni reached her hand over to take Kesslan's and stood up. "Kess, no. I . . . I was being pushy, it's fine. I'm not hurt, see? And Rawni's temper just got away from her. She didn't mean it. It's fine. Don't. Please?"
She took a deep breath and looked hard, her hand still tightly gripping Kesslan's. She was afraid to let her go. "What do I have to do to convince you not to have a pointless, silly fight over this?"

Rawni knew that between Avery and Kesslan, Avery was more likely to find herself in a fight, but Kess was the one requesting that she join her outside for a bit of a tumble, and not in a sexual way. The girl clearly took a once over Kess' body and then scoffed.
Not once, but twice, she snorted condescendingly and took a lazy sip of her klah while she leaned back: then rolling the mug between her hands slowly.
"Sit down, you silly girl. Between the two of us, you're the one that is going to be reprimanded for attempting to brawl with me. If Uuni hadn't of been out of line, I wouldn't have needed to assure your... partner that I will not tolerate such unnecessary and immature accusations." Shrugging her shoulders and ignoring the blatant threat, Rawni crossed her legs over one another and took another sip of her klah, gray eyes flashing but stuck on Kess' face: waiting for the reaction.

"A brawl implies you'll be able to fight back." The blonde's voice was still icy and dark, and she seemed unaffected outwardly by the insult.
True, Avery was more likely to fight, but that was because she had an easy temper, not because she was more likely to win. Kess, on the other hand, was strong, fast, and cool-headed.
Besides the rank difference [Rawni was quickly heading toward insubordination, and it was fortunate for her that K'lan was the person and rider she was], she was also looking at a difference in age and strength, as well as capabilities. Rawni was making things worse for herself quite quickly, as Kess was the sort of girl one could apologize to and have it actually make things better.
Unfortunately, for Rawni, she was still right.
Avery had been playing with her blade during Rawni's scoffing remarks, and near-casually wrapped a hand in the younger girl's hair, almost like a lover. That is, until she pulled it tight, tight, to drag Rawni's face to her until her lips could touch the girl's ear.
She spoke quickly, quietly, her words almost amused as the blonde greenrider gently removed Uuni's hand from her body. "You are such a stupid little girl. If you ever speak to them again without apologizing first during your Candidacy, I will see to it that both you and your brother's chances of ever impressing are ruined."
Kess was a good, nice girl. Sweet. One of the few left in this damned place, and although Avery herself wasn't too nice, she wouldn't let anyone ruin that for the blonde.

Not okay. None of this was okay at all.
Uuni stood jaw agape at Avery for quite a different reason than lust before clamping it shut and furrowing her brows tight together. The result wasn't at all threatening, but Uuni didn't seem to know or care.
She turned that look towards Kess and swallowed down the bile in her throat. Disbelief was written everywhere. When she'd looked back towards Avery and Rawni, things were getting severely out of hand.
"Stop it. Both of you." Her voice was more of a plead than anything else and the soreness every time she moved her mouth reminded her of the whole reason this mess had started.
"This is not okay. I don't care who you think you're both protecting, but threatening a girl is not okay." She closed her eyes for a moment and then looked towards Avery with determination.
"Rawni and I will deal with it on our own. Let her go. We'll leave you and Kesslan alone." She took a step forwards as if to enunciate this fact. This she had not expected from either one of them, and it was frightening in its unpredictability.

Rawni's breath hissed out of her lungs, in anger, irritation, and complete pleasure. In the back of her head, some unneeded voice in the back of her head was pleased to all ends and told her to immediately fix the situation so that whatever nonexistant chances of recreating this close contact would increase by another minimal percentage.
The action effectively calmed her down to her usual, passive behavior towards those she didn't know very well. Unhappy with the result of her actions, Rawni slowly stood and held out a hand towards Kess. Eyes clearly telling her own feelings towards the action, she kept the hand there though as she managed to slowly extend the following apology.
"Uuni, I apologize for slapping you and using violence where words could have been less dramatic and more wise in such a situation. Kesslan, I would like to offer myself to your services in whatever free time I have during the following week to make whatever amends you may accept for you and yours." The tone in her voice started off hard and slightly bitter and ended quietly and sincerely apologetic.
Rawni didn't dislike anyone at the table. She just didn't know how to make the step from being a loner to one that accepted friends and understood how to trust those friends.
She wanted to, but she simply didn't know how. And that frightened her a bit, that she only had herself and her brother to support her.
"Ralke is his own person, but if you want to threaten him, I support that." She tacked on the end, as if a spare thought in her head. The corner of her mouth turned up a bit and she glanced at Avery. "He needs it."
