It was after the food fight incident in the lunchroom. They had kept Koda shored up in his room for two days as punishment but containing the hyperactive pokemon once boredom set in was like making a Muk smell like roses. Once bones had been obsessively chewed away furniture was his next victim.
Then one day without warning Koda's entire demeanor changed. It started out as repeatedly hitting the call button while whining loudly, drooling everywhere, mouth always open but toungue not lolling happily out. The pleading tones got louder, more desperate, more annoying after a time. He didn't look sick so they thought he was just sad he wasn't being let out.
Aggravated they ignored him when suddenly he started growling, barking, howling, charging the door, smashing his face against things. He had stopped eating too. Someone listening would think he was being beaten. Finally they caved and decided to let him out but when a scientist opened the door to give him the good news, muzzle and leash in hand, Koda cowered in one corner, whimpering sadly.
"Koda, we're letting you out, so come here!" The canine, used to taking orders, did not move. He didn't bite or growl, but he did show his teeth. Unnerved, the man finally got the muzzle on but then Koda freaked. He started shaking his head, pulling back disobediantly, pawing at his face to get the muzzle off. He was loudly whining and yelping.
Unable to understand the man pulled him all the way to the yard. It was a relief to both when the muzzle was off. Koda stood up on his hind legs and howled at the guards, who just watched warily. The canine ran like a maniac around the yard, burning pent up energy.
After tiring himself to exhaustion he stood there growling, drooling, mouth open, panting. His fur was ungroomed, his face was bruised from smashing it up against things and his stomach growled louder than he did.
Scientists tried to come up with a logical explanation for his out of character behavior.

Ginny had also been confined to her room after the rood fight incident though her reaction was different to Kodas to the confinement. This could have been due to the fact that up until recently all of Ginny's world had been the lab her cage resided in. Her room was a place of discovery for her. The bug soft fluffy thing (A pillow) did not taste good but when you opened it up there was a nice warm place to curl up in there.
Ginny thought she had herd howling during the time in her room but she could not be sure. There was also the sound of some one hitting the door with something in frustration. When humans did this they normally said some things that they would not say around other humans.
Those other humans were at the moment puzzled over Kodas behavior out in the yard. Thinking that hay may be he missed Ginny that could be the reason he was acting that way may be he was love sick. Though they laughed at that thought ginny falling in love was not possible in there human minds.
But the humans figured that Ginny and Koda were friends may be she would understand what was going on better than them. So the guards reluctantly took ginny out of her room and took her outside were they placed her on the grass.
Ginny was not used to the colors no matter how many times she was taken out side though her ahh moment was cut short when she herd Kodas growling. Hopping over she was socked to see Koda in such a battered shape. She ran over to him.
"Who did this to you Koda just tell me and I will make them regret it. Oh and do not eat the dirt it is good for the grass but it taste Yucky."

Boy was he relieved to see Ginny! His blue eyes held deep appreciation though it wasn't like their previous meeting when his tail would have wagged. Pokemon understood better than humans and masters sometimes. Now if only he could talk right. Through the pain he couldn't close his mouth and the drool didn't help much.
"I notta eating dirt. 'Hoomins wouldn't git 'e bone and I wasssssSSSSO boreda so I chewed my chair and now my tooff hurts badly. It gots worsse and worsse. I try teling 'hoomins again and again 'ut they don't listen, can't understand 'okemon languache. TrRRrrrrying ta knock toof out."
Ugh, did she even know what he was talking about? He'd just show her instead. He opened his mouth wide, showing his teeth. One tooth had a wooden splinter imbedded in his gums. The tooth above the sliver was wiggly, bad looking. If the painful wooden sliver was out he'd be free to wiggle the bad tooth out with his toungue. He had hit his mouth against things to knock the tooth loose since the sliver made wiggling the tooth painful torture.
Outsiders would at first wonder if he was going to try to eat Ginny but before bets could be taken on who would win guards noticed Koda wasn't attacking, just standing there with his mouth wide open. Poor scientists would be even more confused.

Ginny tried to understand what Koda was saying though a translation error occurred in the form of the simple word chair. But she guessed it was some thing that was in Kodas room. But that was some thing to ask latter Koda seemed to be in pain. She knew what toof pain felt like she had felt it when she had tried to chew her way out of a metal cage. Not a good idea. But what did it have to do with a thing called a chair.
She noticed Koda was pointing to one of his teeth some thing odd was stuck in his teeth it looked like it was painful and did not belong there. She poked her head in to Kodas moth trying to get a better view of the the thing in his Teeth.
The guards gawked was Ginny trying to be a lion tamer and put her head in a lions mouth. There were stupider things to do like get on Carls bad side bite carls leg running in to the electrical fence. But this had to be one of the top ten putting your head in to a subjects mouth.
She did not care what the guards were talking about she did not know what a lion tamer was or for that matter a lion. Ginny trusted Koda not to bite her and if he did it would an accident.
"Koda I think I can pull this strange thing out of your mouth just try not to bite me ok." she said as she poked her head out of the other pokemons mouth. Ginny put her two hands around the sliver and pulled. The sliver came out and Ginny tumbled on to the ground.

Koda felt like he was at the pokemon center and it was a Nurse Joy looking in his mouth only he trusted Ginny more at this point, keeping his mouth craned mouth wide.
"Ahhhhhh."
Then he realized his breathe probably stank so he held his breath for her.
"YELP!" He yipped in pain when she pulled it out. FINALLY! He spat out blood welling up from the small gum wound and wiped off the drool from his mouth.
The wiggly tooth was no problem at all now that he had the painful part out. He nuzzled Ginny, tail wagging a million miles an hour.
"Thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!!! I'm never biting a wooden chair again. Now we can enjoy our evening."

Ginny looked up at Koda after she put the sliver down. "It is no problem Koda. I think if I had some thing like that in my mouth I would have gone crazy also." She giggled lightly and then smiled. "Can you tell me what a chair is? and what wood is also." Ginny looked down embarrassed about asking but she did not know much about the world outside the lab building. But what she had seen and now knew would scare even the toughest charazard.
The guards jumped at the sudden and drastic cage in Kodas behavior what ever Ginny had done had made koda go back to normal. This would have the scientist scratching there heads also wondering if smaller Pokemon helped bigger Pokemon with dental problems or if it was just a one time thing.

Koda pointed to the splinter. "That's wood. Most things humans have are made out of it." He looked around a bit. "That stick is made of wood too. Sticks fall from trees."
Humans loved throwing sticks but were too lazy to go pick them up so Koda always fetched them to make master happy.
"Trees are those, the long brown part is made of wood." His nose pointed to the forest beyond the fence. "The green part on top of the tree are leaves, like grass their not tasty."
"Chairs are those things I sat on in the eating place inside where the food fight was." ans loved throwing sticks but were too lazy to go pick them up again so they made pokemon fetch it for them. Koda was an expert fetcher.

Ginny sat there listening to Koda she was happy to learn more stuff about the outside world. Looking over at the stick Ginny hopped over and picked it up.
"So Sticks are wood and sticks fall from trees and trees have leaves that are like grass yucky. I think I got it. So humans sit in Chairs like you did in the place were the food fight was. So some chairs must be made of wood and that is why there was a piece of wood stuck in your mouth." She smiled before looking down
"Thank you for telling me all that this is only my third time being outside and the first time I learned that Trees were real not a figment of another Pokemon imagination. But that is because I was kept in a cage in a lab in there." She said pointing at the building with the stick. "One day I want to see the Ocean and see if it is true that the water is salty like a salt lick."
