THE COURTYARDS OF JARADIN COLLEGE
[[Blueprint]]
This is the main set of courtyards which are within the Jaradin College walls. At the center is a large, grassy courtyard with the largest fountain at the center - its named after the famous discoverer and is built to resemble his own Daemon; Jaradin Fountain. Around this central, grassy courtyard, there are four others, penned in by the large multi-storey buildings of the college, but each accessible from the main courtyard through a serious of paths and arches that surround the buildings. Each is very similar; a paved courtyard with either a small fountain or a pond at its center, with plenty of shade and seating for working out of doors.
Within these areas, all manner of activity can occur. Games, meetings and summer balls are held in the main large courtyard, as well as extra-curricular activities for the more boisterous of the inhabitants. The courtyards are also an excellent place in the summer to do homework and some teachers even teach outside when the heat in the classrooms become too much.
Overall, these courtyards are the central, beating heart of life in Jaradin. Current RPs Date Starting | Date Ending | People Involved | Name Of RP | Link To Start09/09/09 | ----- | All Welcome | [ORP] Welcome New Students | X To Start An RP Here > Ensure there is not an RP currently in occurance that you may interfere with. > Set up the RP in the same way as all other RPs - an initial post outlining the RP and its aims, then go into the RP itself. > Announce whether others can join or not - Remember, these are an open use area, so other people would likely be walking in and out of the courtyards, or using it at the same time. > Be polite if someone comes in to start their own RP, and try and be considerate in the use of this area - many people may wish to use this area. > Notify staff in the main thread as to the start of your RP so that the above list can be updated.

[ORP] WELCOME NEW STUDENTS
This RP is for ALL students to take part it, especially the newest students still with Daemlings. This is to fully integrate you into the world of Jaradin College and allow you to meet each other within an RP setting and also some of the Teachers that may be teaching you once Classes start once more in a few weeks.
This is kind of like a Freshers Week, where the new students come and move in if they haven't already, get acquainted and start to explore the grounds with their new friends and peers. Duncan is also around, and Aidensur is surely prowling with him. Keep your Daemons in check around her, she is more then happy to blow them into indistinctness.
Come one and all, and have fun getting to know your peers.
Set-up
The Main Courtyard, with Jaradin's Fountain at its center, is the main base of operations today. Many marquees have been set up with refreshments, an outdoor cooking fire-pit, drinks tents, of alcoholic variety for those of age (18, seeing as we are in Brittanica here!) though obviously, the servants serving will only allow a few drinks per person so as not to cause any rowdiness! Other tents hold informative booths about the College, with pamphlets about the lessons, and even some lesson plans for the new students.
Teachers mingle with the older students and new students alike, meeting and greeting. New students filter in from the main Entrance of Jaradin, the North Building complex, and into the courtyard. Duncan himself can be spotted, but seems a little aloof, and thus, not very talkative; perhaps due to the small stage that is set up in front of chairs to one side meaning he will have to give a speech at some point.
Games have been set up for people to participate in; a small football (soccer) pitch has been set up, and girls and boys alike are invited to play, a badminton court has also been set up for fun, and a few play items are strewn around, as well as a may-pole which is open to anyone to join, but which is currently being used by the hired performers. There is a small band set to the side of the may-pole playing lively music to entertain the new students and guests come to visit for this great day of fun!

Eglantine Sangreal, Sang to you, wasn't planning on attending the party. She'd intended to find a tree to sit in and write letters, explaining to any friends and former crewmates who now lived in the vicinity that she was attending Jaradin and that she could be reached at such and such an address. However, the music drew her, and when she saw that there was free alcohol and a barbecue? She wasn't leaving. True, she was a good bit older than your average freshman, but that didn't matter much. This looked like it might be genuine fun, and heaven knew she could use a bit of that.
Mmhmm. Indeed you could. I could, too. A flash of tentacle and ring-furred tail dazzled for a brief moment in front of her eye, then her companion fell into amorphousness once again.
"And what kind of fun would you have, Pieuvre?" she asked, teasing her octothing. "Confusing others? I mean, I know you best of anybody, but were I to see you in your glorious entirety, I can imagine myself being very confused indeed," she said to the daemon. She could hear a giggle in response, then, out of the corner of her eye, a glimmer of light caught her eye. "And your esca's glowing, darling. Not polite to have all the lights on in the day, y'know." If daemons could blow raspberries, the octothing would have. Mercifully, he had no real lips, as far as she could tell. The question of what exactly he was still eluded her, but she was grateful to have him around. "Now c'mon, let's go have a drink, and then maybe find a team for badminton."

Her green eyes were huge as she took in everything around her, walking hand-in-hand with her older sister, Alanna. To say she was nervous would have been an understatement, her world being literally turned upside down in a year. And then to be swept away to somewhere completely new and different that wasn't home, far from the lands she knew and people she was going to be meeting for the first time. And that thing... That thing that randomly appeared when she was scared the most, it flashed beside her even now. "I don't know about this."

Alanna Kingsley was ill at ease. Both she and her younger sister had lost both parents and now they were being corralled into a school just because some...thing... appeared floating by their heads at stressful moments. Alanna's pretty pink lips pursed as she scowled in displeasure and gently squeezed her sister's hand in an attempt to be comforting, "I'm sure the people here know what they're doing."
She didn't sound at all sure and that...thing...was being an amorphous blob while it floated around her head. She eyed it, then looked to see if her sisters blob was there as well. Sure enough, there it was, flashing away beside her. Her blue eyes darkened a bit, sisterly protectiveness kicking in, "Maybe they can tell us what we're supposed to do with those." She was sure Claire could pick up on her barely contained distaste as she led her towards one of the information booths that was just past Jaradin's Fountain.

Annabelle had decided to take a walk around the grounds during this afternoon. She had spent the morning tidying up her room and getting everything just the way she liked it. She knew it would get messy later but she liked to at least know where everything started. Once outside she spotted the tents around the fountain. It was a rather pretty fountain and Annabelle could think of no reason not to investigate.
Well arent we the brave little one today
She could hear her Daemon Iñaki whisper to her. He was currently floating around her shoulder and shifting mainly between bird and kangaroo rat. She thought she could sense some dog in the blob at te moment but seeing as he was trying to stay small and be on her shoulder she assumed he was surpressing the other forms for the moment. She was starting to recognize the forms that Iñaki could take even though she still hadnt sat down and written them out yet. She arrived at the fountain and saw that there were others already there. "Well looks like I get to play the part of social butterfly today" she half laughed at Iñaki as she debated on who to approach first.
Ha, you, social?! I would have never thought you would actually enjoy yourself, and at school? Oh my!
Iñaki spoke in a half laughing half mocking tone. Annie had been so dead set on not liking school that he was glad she was at least trying to have fun right now. He looked around happily noting that others in the school seemed to have daemons too! He stayed on Annies shoulder for the moment but he was itching to get closer to someone else's daemon and see what forms they had. He wanted to show off all the forms he could take.

When Sang had arrived, there hadn't been too many students in the courtyard. But now it seemed to be filling up, with people trickling in in twos and threes. She sipped at a pink, fruity drink with a frilly umbrella and fruit garnish as she watched people. It seemed as though almost everybody had made some friends already. She would have to jump on the bandwagon here! Scanning the crowd, she looked for somebody like herself, somebody who was off alone... One girl caught her eye, a girl with long black hair. She was all alone; well, as alone as anybody here could be; with a daemon manifested, you were never alone. The girl looked fairly muscular and not dainty, and although she seemed to be quite a bit younger than Sang, she didn't look very timid. And she was quite tall. She'd be a perfect badminton partner, provided she like the game."Oi, Pieuvre. Let's go ask them!" Finishing her mimosa, the tall girl strode off in the other's direction, hat bobbing on her head and octothing floating alongside her. Smiling widely at the younger girl, she stuck out a hand. "Allo! I'm Eglantine Sangreal, Sang for short. D'you like badminton?"

Annabelle was a bit surprised to be approached so quickly by someone. She had intended to do the aproaching, but this girl seemed plesant enough. By the look of her she was a sailor, or at least had been at one point. Annabelle had to admit the hat gae it away, but she had been trained by those endles sparlor parties to look for subtle clues and she noted the way this girl spoke and held herself. Definately a sailor. And that meant she was good company! Annabelle had been so worried that she would only meet upstarts and snobs at this place but at least one other hard working soul would be all she needed if it came to that. She stood up and offered her hand. "Why hello Eglantine, I'm Annabelle. I cant say I've ever played badminton before but I'm a quick study."
Annabelle smiled warmly and winked as she finished speaking giving a small laugh. She was generally quick at picking things up and she had seen the game played a few times at her Grandparents house, she had just never played it herself. A quick movement caught her perefrial vision and a flash of something.....with tentacles? She tried to focus on it and is dissapeared just like her newly beloved Iñaki. She gave the girl a knowing smile "Oh no dont tell me your plauged by one of those little puff balls too?" She asked teasingly. She loved Iñaki but she had to admit he could be a nuisance when he wanted to be.
Iñaki had taken little care to glance at the girl coming, all his attention was on her daemon as he tried to see what it was. An odd mix if he'd ever seen one. Though he had to admit he hadnt seen any other. He puffed up a bit at the mention of being a puff ball and if he would have been a little further manifested would have probably bitten Annabelle for being so mean to him. But as it was all he could do was make a resolve to pester her later. Being a young Daemon he couldnt really tell much about this new girl from her Daemon but he did want to have a little fun. He flapped his wings and gave the newcomer a toothy grin.

Giving the other girl a firm handshake, Eglantine nodded. "It's nice to meet you, Annabel. And y'can call me Sang; Eglantine... well... Eglantine is a kind of tiny wild rose, and I just don't see meself as a dainty flower, y'know?" She shrugged and smiled, almost apologetically. "I've always been fond of names that make sense. Like Pieuvre here," she said, gesturing to her amorphous cloud of Daemon. "He hasn't told me his real name, but I know that he's an octopus... sometimes. So I call him, well, a different word for octopus. And I can't say he's a plague; he's been somebody to talk to at the least, even if he takes the weirdest shapes. I'm still not entirely sure what one of 'em is!" She shook her head at her amorphous blob, who was attempting to study Annabelle's daemon. Adjusting to Pieuvre was... odd. Like learning you had an identical twin or something, somebody you'd lived without your whole life, and now you had to get used to there being two of you. "If you don't mind me bein' nosy, does yours have a name?"
Pieuvre, as the daemon was called for the moment, looked at Annabel's daemon. With a quick flash, he flashed an even toothier grin right back- not much was toothier than an anglerfish. Not much had a creepier smile, either. But his intentions were good.

The crowds of enthusiastic students swarmed around the lone girl, sitting on the fountain's stone walls. She was not particularly tall, only a few inches above five feet. She wasn't too skinny or plump; much of her weight was muscle. Her neck was a little long and her eyes a little short, and her dirty-blonde hair had the slightest wave to it. Her skirt was a medium length, her top short-sleeved. She looked around the courtyard with somewhat bored blue-gray eyes, much of her attention clearly on the football game, though she darted glances at the badminton courts. Really, she had no idea why she'd come to the extravaganza.
"You came because I said it would be good for you, Caitlin."
There he was, her daemon. She could always hear him inside her head, but lately she'd been hearing a faint whisper on the outside, as if he had a normal voice in her mind and a quiet one in the real world. She could sense he was there, sitting next to her, and out of the corner of her eye she could see a golden-yellow color with deep brown spots: ocelot. She guessed he was in that form simply because she was acting like an ocelot: small, nervous, and solitary.
Really, she had to agree with him. Both her choice of a skirt and her jaunt down here had been his idea. "'Get to know your fellow classmates,' he said," she mocked. "'It'll be fun,' he said." She sighed. "I think you were wrong. I don't know anyone here, and it would be weird to just join in on anything. They'd wonder who this crazy girl was." Over in the football game, one team scored a goal; the members jumped up, high-fiving each other. "Plus, I am not good at football. Not at all. I know they don't want me to join in, I just know."
She sensed her daemon turn towards her. "There are other things besides football, Cait. Badminton, for one. You like it; you're good, as well. You can go learn what classes you can take here. There's the band, too; you like music. And maybe you can just wander around, sampling the refreshments. I see that Headmaster Haylen has set up a special area; perhaps he will give a speech. There are many things to do, Caitlin. I suggest you go and at least try to be social." She turned to look at him, and for one split second, she saw two solid amber eyes in a small spotted face. Then it disappeared, becoming largely transparent and indistinct.
"Fine," she grumbled. "I'll go." She felt Cayne nod and smile as she stood and headed into the crowd, aiming for the lessons tent. She felt Cayne's shape change and saw a flash of a large, gray creature from the corner of her eye, walking beside her: a wolf, showing her new, somewhat social self. He followed as best he could, sometimes behind, sometimes beside, occasionally nearly passing through someone else, often touching his nose or paw to Caitlin if she had second thoughts of her decision.

Annabelle took a liking to this girl after the handshake, afterall a handshake can reveal alot about a person, well thats what she had been told at any rate. She looked towards her fuzzy blob and smiled. "Well Sang, this is Iñakiardo, but just Iñaki will do and you can call me Annie too, my names too long to remember anyway." She laughed lightly. "Oh so your daemon hasnt told you its name yet, thats ok I had to figure out Iñaki's too but he is just so talkative that it wansnt hard. You should challenge him to a game that might be a fun way to get his name." Annie offered some advise, she didnt know if it was good advise or bad advise but it was advise none the less. She tried to get a good look at Sang's Daemon since she had mentioned it had a form that she didnt know. Annabelle was curious if she would recognize it but she couldnt really make anything out beyond the tentacles since they were the most obvious part....maybe some teeth when it looked at Iñaki but she wasnt sure. Oh well at least she had tried. She knew all of Iñaki's forms, they were all things she had seen before except for the strange mouse....it was a mouse but it had such long feet!
Iñaki was surprised in a pleased way when he saw this new daemons teeth. They were sharp and there were so MANY!! He lapsed into a mostly german shepherd form and lolled his tounge out at the daemon before forming back into his mix. "So your an octopus hmn? I eint never seen one of those before." He said to the daemon who his human called pieuvre. He spoke casually with little formalities because he could see the happy go lucky nature of the daemon and deemed any formalities unnesesary.

Aidensur was sat just inside the entrance to the tent that held many of the information pamphlets about the lessons available. Duncan was rearranging some of the stacks, practical as ever, to those that didn't know him well, but Aiden' did. She glanced over her shoulder at him, her eerie glowing white eyes narrowing a little as he fidgeted with the papers. They were alone in the tent; many students weren't interested in this tent, with its informative content. Most were playing football, or skirting the badminton court, unsure of its net and rackets. To Aidensur, this wasn't Duncan being practical. Oh no. This was Duncan being shy and nervous, hidden well behind his calm façade and constant rearranging.
'You know, we should really take some time to meet the students.' She turned her eyes back to the revellers. Some of the older students had taken up the ribbons of the may-pole and were weaving to the beat. Her attention was then drawn to a very determined looking girl who was weaving her own path between the people moseying around. She tilted her head and sighed. 'Heads up, Duncan. Someone is headed this way.'
"New student?" He asked, a note of panic in his voice. He hated these functions. He kept touching the pocket on the front of his suit jacket, to make sure that the speech he had had to prepare was still there. He sighed, straightened himself out, and walked to the entrance with Aidensur, who simply touched her nose to his palm in comfort. "Ah, yes." He breathed in the scents, belly tightening when the scent of cooking pork reached his nose. The kitchen staff always did do a good pork cob for these occasions! He stepped out, and Aidensur stood also.
"Good afternoon miss." Was all he said as Caitlin drew close. Aiden stood beside her human, looking at the wolfen form of the Daemon beside the girl, glowing eyes focusing on it, before inclining her head a moment, tail held a little higher.

Well, she certainly hoped they knew what they were doing or she'd throw a rightful fit about it. Being taken away by some strange people with things near them, only explaining that they were trying to help. "Hell and damnation," she muttered under her breath, knowing full well the glare her sister would give her for cursing.
Normally, she was at ease around other people, thrived on it. Lately it'd been a mask to hide behind. She glanced over her shoulder, spying something that appeared elongated and small, bouncing along behind her before his blurred and become indistinct. That was the major cause of her discomfort.
Claire lifted up a few papers, giving a quick glance over in curiosity. "Daemon?" Her brow raised with the question. She looked back at the ground where the blur sat on its back haunches.

"Annie it is then, Annie and Iñaki. Easy enough to remember; it rhymes!" Sang chuckled a little, thinking of her confusing long name and her daemon's lack of a real name. In an odd way, they almost went together. She was going to talk again, but her daemon poked at her mind, rather urgently. I don't think I can reply to her daemon yet; I'm... not entirely sure how to do it, Sang. Could you tell him of my various forms? The octothing smiled back at the other daemon; he was quite frustrated. After all, he could sense Iñaki's charm and kind nature, but he couldn't respond with anything other than very vague visual cues. He continued to buzz in Sang's ear until she spoke to the other on his behalf. Turning to the ball of magika accompanying the other girl, Sang dipped her head and spoke to him. "Pieuvre says you'll have to forgive him; he's not very old, and isn't quite good at speaking to other daemons yet. But he says, yes, he's an octopus some of the time, and a seagull sometimes, and sometimes other things. I'm not even sure he knows what he is yet. That, or he's just messin' with my head- he does that sometimes, y'see. I think it's his idea of a game to not tell me his name. Pieuvre just means octopus in Frankophone." She shrugged casually, rolling her shoulders as if to both correct her balance and express her resignation towards the situation. "I suppose he'll tell me his real name someday, or I'll make something up out of frustration, but for now, it's just our game that we play. And right now, I'm still trying to figure out all the shapes he takes; I know that one's a strange fish I've never before seen, and there's some things that I'm not quite sure what they are. I don't even know how he got the ideas for those shapes, but I'll find out eventually- I suppose that's what we're here for after all, to learn about how these things work, as well as our academic subjects."

Annabelle smiled as Sang addressed her daemon, she knew Iñaki wouldn't be able to talk directly to her yet, for some reason it was hard for her daemon to talk to other people, it made him very tired and she had yet to learn why. Iñaki himself had only just begun to be bale to address other daemoons because he seemed to be starting to settle, he mostly took only one of two forms a large shaggy German shepherd or a colorful barn swallow but since he still wasnt completely settled he was still a poof ball to her. At the mention of seagull Iñaki turned into a small barn swallow and swooped around Sang and her daemon before stopping on Annie's shoulder and letting himself go back into his macabre mix of animals.
"True that is why we are here, to learn about the poof balls and how they affect us." Annie smiled and gave a loving look at Iñaki who had slipped off her shoulder and turned into the large shaggy German shepherd and was looking up at her with a stern look. "That is strange that your daemon takes such odd shapes, since mine takes shapes that i recognize I had assumed everyones was like that but I guess its more complicated than I thought." Annie thought a little bit and sadly had to admit that she was looking forward to classes. She did like school but she had been so determined to not like it because she was forced into it. Then on another thought she added "Oh dont mind Iñaki not talking to you directly, for some reason it tires him out after a few words. Maybe its one of those things we are supposed to learn about. What kind of academics do you think we'll have to learn?" Annie looked towards one of the tents advertising the lessons with a curious glint in her eyes. She didnt want to know quite yet incase they had a subject she liked but eventually she did want to know. She also wanted to play this badminton game too so she wondered what Sang would think to do.
Iñaki sat at Annies heels wondering what to do next, he was still in the german shepherd form and he was tempted to roll over and ask for a belly rub but he was painfully aware of the fact that he was still a see through not quite physical thing yet so he would get no pleasure from it.....dang.....
