There are a whole bunch of reasons that people opposed the idea of gay marriage. Let me give you a run down of a few.

1. Procreation...gay couples cannot have children by natural means. They believe
that the reason behind the institution of marriage is to bear and raise children
in order to propel our species forward. Since gay couples lack this ability, they
want to restrict marriage. What they don't seem to realize is that this puts the
marriage of other non-gay couples at risk. Impotent men, post-menopausal
women, older folks...all are unable to procreate. Should we restrict their right
to marry as well?

2. Tradition...marriage has been a heterosexual tradition since the biblical ages;
therefore, it should be kept that way. Of course...you know that this is a
complete fallacy. Traditions are not static...they change all the time. It used to
be a tradtion that a man would take possession of his wife's property and do
with it as he pleased. Slavery was a tradition practiced since time
immemorial. They all changed...so can the tradition of one man and one
woman. Furthermore, it used to be tradition that love and marriage work hand
in hand. This we has been proven to be false. There are many countries who's
citizens still have arranged marriages. There is no inkling of love in these
marriages, and most of the times, they don't work because of this reason. It
has been statistically proven that 50% of all marriages end in divorce. Where is
the love there? Tradition has no place in the gay marriage debate.

3. Morality...this argument rests on the idea that homosexuality is immoral to
begin with. People who argue this point are religously based. Last time I
checked, in the United States at least, the institutions of church and state were
kept separate. Morality has no place in the gay marriage debate either.

4. Bestiality...a lot of wackos think that if gay marriage were made legal, then that
would lead to people marrying their animals. To this I say...WTF??????

Top Ten reasons why gays shouldn't marry:

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, liposuction and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets.. because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were
allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

cool Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans...

Its just they dont want there children to be confused its kinda weird really, they dont want there children to think its ok to be gay/lesbian they dont want them to be impresstioned on. Like they can stop us any ways.
And supposedly marriage is a sacrad.....combination (cant think of the word) between a man and a women.
And the deffinition of marrage is.....

The legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife.
The state of being married; wedlock.
A common-law marriage.
A union between two persons having the customary but usually not the legal force of marriage: a same-sex marriage.

Most of canadian provinces have same sex marriages but don't know for how much longer cause people still trying to get in banned again.

People don't understand.
They think its "unnatural"
as my friend said
