Application for Flying Wherries Member
Name: Rian
Age: 19
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: N/A
Rank: Wherever you think she should be placed.
Physical Description: Genetically, Rian is a shorter woman. It is her extremely active nature that gives her a bulked, stocky appearance. Her wrists and ankles are often wrapped during early morning and later night meals.
As she’s been active since youth, there is hardly an ounce of fat on her body. It is mostly muscle and not all of it is lean.
Her nose has been broken twice and was not reset properly giving a leftward skew. More often than not, her shoulder-length, straight and chocolate-dark hair is tied back, keeping her face free and her eyes to watch. Eyes, in fact, that don’t quite match the rest of her desert-made amber hue. They’re slightly heavy-set into her face and are a pale green. It is, she believes, a tribute from her father, for her mother’s eyes were anything but.
She has a sharp, heavily angled jaw that would be foreboding if not for her light voice. This voice is much higher in tone than one might expect, but although the octave might be right, it is rarely daisies and sunshine that gets blurted in the form of words from her mouth.
Personality: Inner-FW relations: If she were to be given a second name, it would be pride. Rian will obey the “blood” of her group down to the hairy finish. All of the members of the Flying Wherries are her “brothers and sisters”, and she looks out for them around every turn. If she sees a member of her gang walking alone, she’ll often accompany them, daring the other factions to lay a finger on them.
With this extreme loyalty comes a lot of self-control on Rian’s part. Although there are types of people she very much dislikes, she has learned to swallow down her easily grown grudges for members of the Flying Wherries. Every member is viewed in the exact same light no matter their background or ails. She expects this view to be shared by the other members. She simply will not tolerate fights that break out between her own brothers and sisters.
General: With a loud voice and short, demanding words, Rian expects to be listened to when she speaks. If she is not, she will take force to make sure that she is heard. Her face is often stoned over and steeled; it is a trait caused by her constant fight for control of a raging personality. Instead of throwing a punch when she’s angry, Rian has learned to spit and is often seen to be chewing on tough weeds. They keep, she says, her concentration in an ever complicated world.
Other Groups: In the same way that the other two groups antagonize them, Rian never misses a chance to “accidentally” bump into Theron or mix dirt into the plate of the Sandstorm group. She mostly refuses to talk to the others, but on the occasion that she does, it is either to throw insults, or manipulate them to her group’s cause.
History: Rian grew up a very angry child. It was well understood to her that her mother was a green rider, and one obviously frowned upon by the previous residing Senior Weyrwoman. In her youth, she blamed her mother for this shortcoming and was constantly into fights. It was only in her later years, after her mother grew ill and died that she found it in her heart to forgive the woman for her “unfortunate” status. She still remains extremely bitter over the subject and has trouble accepting women as green riders.
Rian never got to know her father, however. Whether a bronze, brown, or blue rider, Rian can’t be sure. She knows only that she was the unfortunate production of some sort of flight, but her mother had never explained to her which dragon had the catch that day. It is possible that the man was gone quickly enough that her mother never knew.
With this knowledge, it was only natural in which group direction she was pulled. Her heavily anger-marred youth lead her to seek out any kind of fighting art she could find. Even the smallest information like locations of pressure points were soaked up by her brain, and it became her main source of focus second only to Impressing a Gold. She is very much afraid of repeating the failure of her mother, and considers not Impressing a better option than Impressing to dragons not fit for women.
With a purpose, Rian’s anger subsided into a controlled direction of energy. At sixteen turns of age, she considered herself controlled enough to start teaching combative defense to other people and began to spread the word that any member of the Flying Wherries could come to her with furthering knowledge or with the desire to learn the protective arts before her.
Pets: N/A
Other/Talents: As well as her defensive arts, Rian has begun to make and spread a simple, hand-signal based communication form for the Flying Wherries to use. It hasn’t yet taken off, but she teaches bits and pieces to everyone she knows, and she intends to bring up the matter with Fanigan as a potential advantage against their “opponents”. If nothing else, it will make their group more special and isolate them further from the other groups.
Will this character be a candidate? Yes
