Yensid was pleased now that he knew his siblings intentions, it soothed him and concerned him in equal measure. How would Fantasia know, how could he test the strangers to whom they were opening their home to? What if someone tried to harm his precious family? The thought put him ill at ease and he slipped away from the roses into the open meadow to stretch his muscles a bit and train. He enjoyed time alone, but not as much as he enjoyed time spent basking in the pleasant presence of his siblings and parents.
He needed to take his sister a snack, he decided, to show his support for her as well in this role, this idea. Words were never enough for Yensid and so he rarely bothered to use him, his way was to show his love and approval or disapproval. Showing was so much better then telling with mere words, he set off finding a rabbit in the brush that grew around the edges of the meadow. The hunt was quick, easy, his muscles rippled and allowed him to outmaneuver the quick fuzzy critter. He picked up the plump creature in his jaws carefully, no blood, just a snapped neck. With a grin he headed to find his sister his tail wavering proudly in the air.
The female had been lazying away under the shade of one of the larger rose bushes that mother had been tending to. The sun was warm on her blue and brown pelt, and she couldnt help but stretch her legs out to the sky and smile as the tension left her muscles.
She loved to relax, and being the energetic teen she was, she needed the time to herself.
She had been plotting with her brother Fanta about the future of their family.. They were to lead the Order of the Rose together, much different than any pack leaders..
They would take their own mates, though she already had her eyes on the gorgeousness of the female named Willow which had come to their ranks in order for refuge.
She flicked her tail, blinking her sapphire eyes. Today was such a pretty day.. Time for something to do, if she could get the motivation to stand.
Yensid smiled as he found his sister sprawled so casually under the roses, he walked over and dropped the plump rabbit beside her head. His tail gave a soft wag and he sat down bending his head to nuzzle her and lick her cheek before nudging the rabbit closer to her. There now she could see how pleased he was with her and Fantasia's idea. Perhaps she would have some suggestions for him, for how he might assist.
His dark blue eyes traveled down the wall of roses, their mother was making slow but steady progress, the roses were growing faster now, wildly taking over as they formed a long wall, soon they would have an enclosed territory, the dens within fair sized and deep beneath the earth. Each one had been tested for its durability and the dug up earth had been used to help the roses. Leftover food and bones carefully mixed with the soil, any nutrients Disneyana could add to it, she did.
Terabithia felt her brothers presence, and she perked her head, though she did not lift her body from its position. She smiled, and her tail thumped against the earth with great excitement. She loved her family, loved them so much.
She could think of nothing more special in her life than her brothers and her parents.
"Yensid." She greeted, her voice soft and loving. She looked to the still warm rabbit, and gave a gleeful squeal.
"Oh Yensid! It looks so tasty!"
She rolled onto her belly, and pulled at a piece of the meat, tearing past the fur and bone.
"I have wondered where you went off to." She spoke after she had swallowed her first mouthful. Always the lady, she was always kind and courteous. She wagged her tail again and smiled.
She was indeed going to make a good alpha, as she had the kindness of her mother, with the strength of her father.
"Fantasia told me of the pack..." He smiled softly, he didn't need to tell her how pleased he was with the idea, that was the point of the rabbit, well that and to tell his sister how much he loved her. He didn't bother to tell her she would make an amazing alpha, she knew it otherwise she wouldn't have offered herself for the position.
"I hope to help." He stated and relaxed watching her eat, he slowly slid to lay down infront of her with a soft smile. He waited for her to offer any ideas, his voice felt strange, he promised himself to try and use it a little more, talking wasn't so bad...at least not with his family. "Mama has been busy I see..." He glanced at the roses. "they look beautiful, and those thorns are sharper then any I remember."
She pushed a piece of the meat towards the growing male, and smiled.
"He did? Well, its true. Fanta and I have been discussing it for a long while." She gave a grin of fangs, and it was a completely innocent grin.
"I think I could do such a good job.. I really do." She was so proud that she had thought herself capable of this responsibility. She seemed to radiate the happiness she felt.
"Oh yes, mother has been very busy. I wouldnt want to get caught up in those thorns, they could probably cut to the bone."
She warned, and she wasnt exaggerating. Mother had been growing them for defense now, moreso than for looks and their beauty.
"We'd love your help. What would you wanna do?"
"Mother had family, she never speaks of them, but surely she had parents, and someone taught her about the roses...I considered going in search of them? Perhaps I could ask mother to try and remember...and tell me..." His voice was mildly hopeful, after all if his sister even mildly thought the idea had merit he would put himself into the project whole heartedly.
He had already considered how to route his search, what marks to look for, what questions to ask. The search might be long, and fruitless, but it was worth going out for.
"They could help you and Fantasia too, age and experience." He had thought deeply on the matter wondering if his mothers family wasn't as shy of the forest as she was. Were they a bolder lot, or a more tender group? There was only one way to find out, or to find out if there was a group at all.
She had never thought about their mothers past.. In fact she never thought about either of her parents pasts.. She figured the only thing that mattered was the future, and that was being planned so thoroughly.
But when he brought it up, she cocked her head and looked deep in thought. When she looked back at him, her tail wagged and she stretched her neck to lick at his muzzle.
"I think that mother would like having someone to talk to.. And I think that maybe it would help her with her fear of the forest."
"I'll speak with her, and then decide..." He murmured softly with a nod. He was thankful for his sisters reassurance, he hadn't wanted to distress their mother by asking things that she might not wish to discuss. He smiled at the lick and playfully batted at her muzzle.
"Enjoy the rabbit?" He relaxed and rolled to his side pleased now that he had some better grasp of a course of action. He would do everything in his power to ease the way for his siblings, and to make sure their parents were safe as well. Allah and Disneyana had cared so well for them it was now their turn to care for their parents equally as well.
"Yes I did, it was absolutely delicious, though I do wish you had taken a bite or two." She mused with a little grin. She wagged her tail, and scooted closer to him to nuzzle into his neck.. Anyone who didn't know the family might mistake it for a lovers embrace, but the female found security in her brothers warmth..
"Im rather excited for our future, Yen. We're going to be so happy.. You, brother, momma, poppa, and I."
She took a deep breath, and gave a little whine.
Yensid pulled her closer and nuzzled his sister happily sharing in the close family bond. They trusted one another, they loved one another, it was that bond that allowed them to survive when other families broke apart. "I'm glad Tera, it will be good for us all. I only worry a bit about...strangers...I hope we can come to trust in them and care for them too...like Willow." He added softly with a knowing smile.
He kept still allowing his sister to lean against him, it was comforting, just as when they had all slept in a ball in the den on a soft bed of rose petals. Things did not need to change so very much, they still needed one another, not so much for warmth anymore, but for the tender touches and familiar support. Yensid knew his siblings would always support him, and he in turn promised himself he would forever support them as well.
She wagged her tail, and snuggled deeper into the warmth, and familiar smell of her brother. It reminded her too, of her days curled in the den with her little wriggling brothers, all trying to stay warm.
She perked her head and smiled, blushing a bit. Had he noticed her fondness for Willow? She hoped not, because she was hoping it wasnt considered..bad..How she felt..
"You.You know bout Will?" She asked, still blushing, but okay if Yensid knew.. He was after all, her best friend.
"She's very pretty isn't she Tera? Nice too, and mama likes her...loves her really like a daughter." He smiled reassuringly and nuzzled his sister tenderly in silent understanding. No matter what Tera did or said, what path she chose, or who she loved...it didn't matter to him. He loved his sister, his only concern was for her health and happiness.
Yensid himself hadn't any feelings for anyone of course, he simply didn't think of others in such a way. He saw others from a strange distance, only to be protected and watched over, not to become involved with. It probably didn't help that there weren't any available females in the family or tiny pack anyway. Even if there had been though it was doubtful Yensid would be the type to simply fall in love, he was more the type to carefully plan out his romance, deciding with care when and where to fall in love. Sadly for Yensid he had yet to learn that such a plans were fruitless and impossible.
She couldnt help but keep snuggled into her brother. She wagged her tail. Thump, thump, thumping against the earth.
She hoped momma loved her. She felt, reassured from her brothers kind words. He knew how to make her feel better, and she just smiled widely.
"Oh she is, Yen. She's so pretty.. And she smells so nice, and when she's around me, I can hardly breathe!"
She replied, her eyes widening with emotion.
"I hope momma likes her.. I hope everyone loves her.. Cause I think I might."
She said with a little blush.
Yensid smiled at the thumping of his sisters tail and slowly moved his tail to brush with hers. He nodded softly in further reassurance, his sisters words did mildly surprise him. Could Tera love so quickly? It wasn't that he disapproved of Willow or love or any such thing, he simply worried for Tera's feelings. What if Willow didn't feel the same? What if she hurt Tera's feelings...it would be an accident of course Willow didn't seem the type to be cruel without need.
"I'm sure everyone loves Willow Tera, else we wouldn't have welcomed her into our home, into our family..." He didn't want to add any comments about Tera's declaration of love however, what could he say? To wait? To take things slow? No it was clear his sister was falling in love and sadly he couldn't catch her the way he was accustomed, the pull opposing him was stronger then gravity.
She supposed she was moving too fast, and she layed her head against the earth, and looked up at him with sapphire eyes.
"Oh I suppose its just a crush, Im sure. It will pass. Though I shall hate to see it do so."
She sighed, and smiled regardless.
"Oh but dont you believe in love at first sight Yen? Dont you think its possible? If it wasnt, why would they make you believe it so by making it a phrase?"
She asked, and lifted her head, asking for advice from her equally intelligent brother.
"Well...it could be love...someday. I just like to think one can plan such things Tera, plan your perfect mate and find her...that would make me happy. Still...there must be love at first sight for some, maybe it starts like a spark and then becomes a raging inferno. Mama and Papa are so in love...it's hard to think they were ever just friends, maybe they just knew they were destined?" The word destined almost made him snort. Soon he would be spouting about Fate like Fantasia, no no he believed in taking fate and forcing her to submit. He wouldn't fall in love, he would carefully climb into love with sure footing all along.
"We're young still Tera, I'm sure it will all come to us in time...we have but to be patient and diligent until then." He finally finished, he would have to keep an eye on Willow now, to gauge what her reaction might be towards Tera.
Tera yawned a bit, thinking on what he said, and knowing that he made sense. Its why she loved him so much. Where she was a romantic at heart, he was the one with the intelligence to keep her safe.
"You make sense my brother. You are so smart."
She smiled, licking his cheek.
"Im a lucky sister, thats for sure.. But yes, who knows.. Maybe one day, it will be love."
"You rest now...I'll go find mother..." He smiled softly and nuzzled her in silent reassurance, her words filled him with pride. He had the very best siblings and he would make sure they knew it. Yensid gave his sister one last soft lick against her cheek and stood. With a shake he stretched and moved to head in search of Disneyana. Hopefully she would be able to remember something and wouldn't be terribly distressed by his leaving.
