Welcome to Crucea Island, Duelist!
You have been selected to participate in this year's tournament in celebration of the island's twentieth birthday. Please enjoy the tropical climate, beach-side city, fantastic five-star resort, and the diverse natural environment which serves as a perfect area for dueling.
Crucea Island is divided into five main areas. Crucea City, near the beaches, is where the restaurants, shops, and resort are. In the northern-most part of the island lies the desert; to the west is the mountain range, complete with an inactive volcano. A vast forest lies in the dead center and an amusement park sits at the eastern shore. Each duelist will be provided with a duel disk, though duel arenas are scattered through each of the areas.
The goal of the tournament is to defeat your opponent and move up in rank. Each duelist starts off with a one-star rank. With each victory, your rank will improve. If you happen to lose, you will receive a prize based on the rank you held at the end. The first four duelists to reach a six-star rank will participate in a miniature one-on-one knockout duel to decide the ultimate victor. You are, of course, welcome to duel just for fun should you wish to.
The duelist who places first will receive twenty-five thousand dollars and their choice of three rare cards. Second place will receive five thousand dollars and their choice of one rare card. If at anytime you have questions regarding your standing or prizes to be won, please visit the Duelist Information Center in sunny Crucea City.
Good luck to you!
Sincerely,
The members of the Crucea Island Duelist Headquarters

Apollo stepped off the boat and onto the island where the tournament would be held and took a deep breath, the salty sea air filling his lungs. "Well, looks like a new chapter's opening up for us, huh," Apollo said to nobody in particular to the average eye; he was actually talking to his spirit, AA, the battery-looking hero in his life. Apollo walked away from the boat and towards wherever he was asked to go so that the tournament would be further explained to him which he figured would be in the middle of the island. The batteryman floated silently behind its partner towards their new beginning.

Compared to the boat, the girl in the hat looked small. That actually wasn't saying much. She was already pretty tiny to begin with. Even smaller still was the purple-hooded creature sitting on her upright suitcase, swinging its legs cheerily. It looks up at her, blinking it's beady red eyes reflecting a sense of what she believed to be happiness. Her little, invisible-to-others partner hops off of her luggage and walks forward. Perhaps waist-high (according to her height) couldn't be considered tiny, but the girl considered anything smaller than herself to be so.
Trilby shields her ruby red eyes with a delicate gloved hand. She was used to sun, but this was ridiculous! "Phew... it's kinda hot, huh?" The Arcane Apprentice that served as her friend and guide just turned around and nodded, even though she knew it couldn't really feel the heat. "But we made it here at last! Good thing too... everybody on that boat was more interested in preparing for the tournament than they were in meeting their opponents. It was so b-- where are you going?"
Her guide begins wandering away, though if it hadn't started to do so she would have continued talking to herself like a crazy old woman. Ew, wrinkles... Trilby picks up her suitcase and lugs it with her as she goes after her crazy purple-robed partner while it waddled further and further into the shining city near the sea.
According to the travel brochure the boat attendants were handing out, Crucea Island had been discovered rather recently, and apparently some big-shot millionaire duelist found it, built on it, and turned it into a huge tourist attraction. It was an impressive island, with tons of things to do and, best of all, places to duel it out with your opponents. On the roadside houses and restaurants she saw many people dueling, though none of them looked like tournament participants. Did everyone here play the game?
Trilby stops walking suddenly. Wait. Where exactly was she now? Her adventurous partner had lead her too far into a city she doesn't know, and neither of them had a map or anything useful like that. "This is peachy..."
It lead her all this way just because it wanted to explore, didn't it? She shakes her head as it stares up at some of the native palm trees growing in small patches of grass wrapped in the white cobblestones. Oh well. Looks like it'd be up to her to ask for directions. Trilby sighs lightly, then waves over the nearest city resident. "'Scuse, me, but I'm trying to find my way to this place." She holds up an image of the Duelist Information Center on the front of her travel brochure. The resident begins blurting out directions faster than the girl can write them down, which was almost a guarantee that she'd get even more lost. "Uh... thanks?"
Nothing to do about it but jump right in and try to make sense of the jumbled mess of a map she'd drawn.

Apollo continued looking for wherever he was supposed to go but ended up lost. He was obviously in some sort of city, but he still had no idea where he was going or where it even was supposed to be. "Damn it, man," he said to the silent spirit next to him, who seemed to have the better sense of direction since following it always brought him to where he should've been in the first place. "Any idea where to go?" The electrical hero raised an arm and pointed it's finger at a girl that Apollo hadn't seen. Apollo blushed slightly as he realized how oblivios he'd been to not have even seen or heard the girl who was talking to another guy. "Duh. Guess I'll go and introduce myself then.." Apollo walked over to the couple and managed to hear the last few bits of what the man was saying before he stopped and left. Apollo looked at the girl and smiled sweetly before asking where they were supposed to go.

In the corner was a masked stranger. No one knew of his identity due to his mask. He looked like a character from another anime. wink With his cool look, he just stood there and looked at his competition. He first noticed a girl and a guy talking. He asked his spirit Malosa (Queen of the Harpies), "Which of those two will be your first victim?" With no hesitance, his spirit pointed her claw at the girl. "So you want her, eh?"

What a creepy smile. She was used to having people smile at her, but they normally didn't smile at her and coat it with so much sugar that it almost made her stomach turn. Trilby peers up at the young man who'd appeared in front of her after the native resident left. At least they were lost together. So far, everyone she'd met was taller than she was. Wasn't surprising.
"I dunno... if I did, I wouldn't asking someone else for directions, huh?" She taps her cheek gently with her pen. All duelists were supposed to meet at the info center, but none of them seemed to know where it was. That was okay. Maybe. Someone had to know where they were going. Trilby looks down at her map, a jumbled mess of lines and street names. It would be easier to walk in one straight line and hope to come across it than it would be to try and follow this mess.
Her little partner is looking rather curiously at something, tilting its head back and forth. Eventually it catches Trilby's attention by waving its hands wildly, then pointing at someone hiding over there. Someone wearing black... in this heat?! The weirdo was staring right at her too. "Hey! Hey you, over there! Go stare at someone else, would ya?"
She turns back to the young man who'd actually been polite enough to talk to her in person instead of standing around like some stalker weirdo. Trilby rolls her bright red eyes, tucking her pen back into her suitcase.

"Is there a crime against stating at people," the masked stranger replies. "I apologize, I'm just ready to get this party started." Little did the girl know that the masked man's spirit was pushing him to duel.
Quietly, the masked man said to his spirit, "Malosa, calm your claws down! We will duel as soon as we can! You get to excited, my dear. I want to duel just as bad as you. I don't even know where we need to go!"
Malosa then points at the girl and the guy that were talking. "Should we follow them," says the masked man. Malosa nods her head. "Ok, we need to keep a distance from them so it doesn't look like we are following them."

Apollo looked to the man and noted his features before turning back to the girl he'd just met. "What a creepy guy. Any idea why he's dressed up like that?" Apollo started looked towards the sky and then back down the girl he was supposed to be talking to. "I'm Apollo by the way - Apollo Grantz." The boy stuck out a hand for the shorter girl to shake and smiled his sweet smile again, something that turned most people off of him. Truth be told, not many people liked when he smiled at them. They all thought it was fake because of the "sugar" that was placed on top, but Apollo couldn't help that his smile was like that. The batteryman that always accompanied him tended to use sugary smiles as well whenever it actually made one.

"Probably to get girls..." Trilby says, trying her best not to look back over there. Tuxedo man was still staring, and it was still creepy. She sighs, setting down her suitcase to shake Apollo's hand warmly. It kind of felt like his hand was eating hers, though. He seemed nice enough, despite sugar-coated smiles. Could be worse. She'd rather see a sugary smile than a goody two-shoes who's nice to adults and nasty to kids their age, like the girls who lived next door to her parents. Evil little trolls. "Trilby Lancaster. You know... like the hat." She lets go of his hand and mimics the shape of the old-fashioned hat above her head. Her parents had always been a little odd like that.
The Apprentice stands up on its toes, peeking at the map Trilby drew hastily. It blinks its red eyes, tracing the straightest line with a finger to see where it would lead. Apparently it could make sense of the map that didn't look like a map and began walking off eastward, merrily taking in the sights and sounds the city had to offer. Trilby glances over at its direction. Always wandering off, it was.
She picks up her suitcase again. Maybe this time it'd actually lead her somewhere she was supposed to go instead of around in circles. "You coming? We can get lost together," she says with a bright smile, glancing over her shoulder at Apollo before running after the quickly-moving partner of hers.

Apollo chuckled at Trillby's comment and looked down to her. "I think we're already lost together, you're just leading the way now." Apollo looked towards wherever they were going and began looking at some of the strret signs ahead of them. None of them appeared to be of any help. For a millionare's tournament island, the place kind of stank. As the two walked, Apollo placed his hands in his jacket pockets and began playing with the ring inside that he always kept on him. It was a parting gift given to him when he was 10 before his best friend moved away to America. If he was lucky, Apollo got to see her every 2-3 years. It was for this reason that he was entered in this tournament and why he only played at local tournaments; Apollo played for money or things he could sell. If he won the tournament he'd basically be able to see the girl he'd loved since he was 7 almost whenever he wanted.

Kiba sat up from his bed, taking a look over at his bag, then grabbing his belt from the on top of the bag. Strapping his belt on, the then grabbed two deck containers and snapped one on the back of his belt. The other he snapped onto a belt which was around his leg. He picked up his black and green jacket, looking over to the door. He took a few seconds to limber up before sliding both arms through the sleeves of his jacket. He placed his bag on his back and cut off the light, making his way out the door.
On his way to the boat's exit, he noticed Crucea Island brochure. He swiped it from the stand, thumbing it over as he stepped onto the dock. "Well... heh, looks like it's time." Following the brochure's map, he made his way to the amusement park while taking in the scenery along the way.

As the girl and the guy walked to find where they need to go, the masked stranger followed, keeping a good distance so he wouldn't be seen. Along the way he notices two other duelist. One seemed to be very familiar. "Malosa, I think we've dueled him before," says the masked stranger.
The other guy that was in a tree was a new face to him. "Why is the guy in the tree talking to himself," said the masked man. "Arvin, he is talking to his spirit like you talk to me," replied his companion. "Oh right! XD Silly me. Oh no Malosa, the other two are pretty far away! Let's catch up!"
Since the masked stranger is very good at keeping himself mysterious, his purpose for dueling is unknown. Little did everyone know that his purpose was a life and death situation.

It took every ounce of self-restraint she possessed to keep herself from saying "oh, I'm just following a little magician you can't see. Don't worry though, I'm sure it'll lead us right to where we need to go and won't let us get lost ever again." Yeah. Right. She wasn't about to risk being called crazy. People thought she was strange enough already.
The least the boat attendants could have done was given the duelists a map of the place. Supposedly they were supposed to get them at the information center, but what good was that if they couldn't find it to begin with? That wasn't very well thought out on their part. Thank goodness Trilby's Apprentice is around, or she wouldn't even be able to find her way to the kitchen with her keen sense of direction.
"This isn't leading, it's a random adventure! I don't even know where I'm going."
More and more of the duelists are starting to get off the boat. She hadn't actually seen anymore herself, but people are lining the streets and talking about how this year's tournament had a huge turn-out for competitors. So far it seemed as if she was the only female contestant; come to think of it, she didn't personally know many girls that played the game. Girls and their stupid cell phones.
Now the purple-hooded creature is hopping up and down, pointing at a rather small building on a street corner. Trilby looks to see what had gotten it so excited. An... ice cream parlor? She cocks an eyebrow and stops walking. Well, it was hot. The question was whether or not they actually had time to stop for that before the duelists were supposed to gather at the... wherever they were supposed to gather... for additional tournament information and rules. To find where they were supposed to meet, they had to register at the information center and then they'd be told where to go. Talk about a run-around... Screw that. She wanted a milkshake, and headed inside the ice cream parlor to get one.
((FYI, Arvin, no one should know that anyone else has a guiding/friend/whatever spirit. x3))
