The day was nearly perfect for the lone stallion. Naught but a slight breeze stirred the far-off trees' leaves. Sunlight shone down onto the great meadow, tinting the grass a bright green, the spots bathed in shadow a darker, less vibrant green. There were no clouds in the bright blue sky, nor scents of predators among the foliage. The male kirin stood in the shade of one tree for a moment, then stepped out. His hide glowed brilliant gold, his lower legs showing the brown color they truly were, as opposed to the black they often appeared. His midnight-hued mane and tail blew softly in the wind, the feathers attached to the crest-bound locks fluttering against each other. A blaze ran down his head, from forehead to pink-lipped muzzle, with a lavender eye on each side of it. His hind leg, splashed with a nearly hock-high sock of white, and decorated with two green loops of beads, stamped as the stallion glanced around. He'd come here for something interesting, and hopefully he would get it. He raised his head and let out an echoing neigh, inviting any others to step forward and greet him, a splash of light and dark against the greenery.

Lemona had been grazing on some sweet meadow grass in the warm sunlight that bounced of her metallic scales, when she heard the echoing call of another. She had heard the calls before but never so close to her. She was curious, but also a little scared to check it out. She didn't speak well and was afraid other kirin would think she was stupid for not being able to speak like them, so she had never dared to interact with them. The sun warmed her and gave her courage. It felt like a good day, so she headed in the direction of the call.

After she had walked a little she came upon the stallion. His dark brown mane decorated with feathers moving gracefully in the wind. Lemona was a little shocked because this stallion didn't look like the other wild kirin she had gazed upon. He did not have a horn. Lemona wondered how he defended himself.

She started grazing in viewing distance of the stallion but was too shy to approach him. So she grazed and watched the stallion instead.

She was an odd one, or so some might think. She moved gracefully, and with purpose, her head held high. Though it wasn't haughty, as some might think. No, it was to remain alert, ever watchful, mostly for those around her.

For as long as she could remember, Nemesis had traveled alone. That is with no other of her kind. Her faithful Norora journeyed where ever she went, of course, but other Kirin? She wasn't even sure of where her family was, or if she even had one.

Her life had been filled with adventure, though. As well as friends. She paused as Omega darted off, on the trail of some juicy grub, no doubt. Waiting for her small companion, she lowered her head to the nearby stream, taking a long drink of it's life giving liquid. The tip of her single spiral dipped in, causing a swirl of graceful ripples.

As she drank, her ears tilted, as the echoing sound of a nearby Kirin filled them. Lifting her head, she licked the cool droplets from her muzzle. "Hello..?"

Odin simply stood for a while, his eyes closed in the bliss of the wind. How good it felt! The breeze drifting through the trees, whispering to him, playing with his long mane and tail; even his beard, its inky blackness giving him a look much like a lion as it ran from brow to jaw, to his chest and legs nearly his belly. It was why he'd asked a lone Quetzil to attach the feathers into his mane in return for a quick ride to some spring. He loved the wind. It was almost his best friend--well, except for the mares.

He had opened his eyes once to see a single mare close to him. She'd clearly arrived when he was savoring the wind. Her scales were golden and her body light creamy-tan, her man and tail a darker tan. Her horn, as well, was a golden yellow. She was...well, she was beautiful. He was impressed; he'd rarely seen one as pretty as her. He trotted over, at a gait with more up-and-down movement than lateral, his tail and head held high, white socks flashing. "Well hello there, pretty one," he said, his voice smooth and friendly--maybe a little too friendly, though he meant no harm. "I'm Odin, and I'm simply traveling through. What about yourself?" He gave her a smile, angling his head, until he heard another one calling. And a mare, at that! He looked toward the call to see a very, very pretty aqua-and-white mare standing over by a stream. She had wings too, and...a spiraled horn! How much luckier could he get? He took a few steps over to her, making sure not to totally ignore the first mare, and called out. "Hello to you, as well! Mind coming over here and joining in on the party? It's a little hard to walk between both of you, I'm sure you understand." He chuckled kindly, loud enough for her to hear and know that he meant what he said in a good way.

The stallion noticed Lemona and started strutting towards her. She started to get nervous and was starting to second guess her decision to come here. Her tail started flicking nervously, at first one might think she was flicking bugs away.

When the Stallion finally came up to her and spoke is voice was warm and open...it calmed her a little bit, but her already slow speech came out quiet and a bit stuttered.

"H-h-h-i. Le-le-mona. Live here." *She blushed and turned her head down a little ashamed*

Odin had turned towards another kirin. A gorgeous winged kirin with a pointed horn. She had never seen or even heard or such kirin. She gazed at the mare dumbfounded. She was starting to wonder if she was strange looking to these other kirin.

Odin's words that the mare should come over struck her out of her awe.

"Uh...who...what" She was not in anyway ready to deal with two kirin. Her heart started pounding and she wanted to run away, but she was more embarrassed of how that would look and not being able to do this.

*FizGig snored during everything, laying quietly and cutely upon Lemona's back*

((Oh, I love the reasoning behind how Odin got his feathers. Very nice. ^^))

It was easy to sense the other mare's nervousness. Wondering at the cause, Nemesis simply folded her wings at her side delicately. "I'm always happy to make new aquaintences." She said, bowing her head politely. "However, I don't wish to make anyone uncomfortable." She smiled politely to the mare. It was somewhat clear to her that she wasn't used to being around others.

Odin's brow furrowed the slightest bit as the golden mare's tail flicked with a nervous motion. Why would she be nervous? Did she not like stallions, or did she think he was going to hurt her? Whatever the reason, he simply ignored it; once she saw how he was, she would surely calm down. Her sudden, stuttering speech made him take a step back, though. "You...you can't talk that well...can you?" His smile turned to a straight line for a single heartbeat, but then it returned. "Well, Lemona, I really don't mind. And you live here? Lovely. I like this place; the meadow's perfect for feeling the winds blow. I may decide to join you." He chuckled again, softer and quieter this time, then glanced back at the blue and white mare. "Are you fine with this?" he said to Lemona. "I'm sure all of us are the docile type; you're not going to be made fun of or anything." No matter how much of a tail-chaser Odin could be, he had a heart of gold, and he could be the kindest stallion you would ever meet. He could tell that Lemona wasn't interested in him that way, so he instead switched to his kinder, more friend-like side, to help her out.

{~ Thank you, Nemesis! It was actually somewhat of a spur-of-the-moment thing. razz ~}

To Odin: "Yeah, live...like wind too...and sun. Docile...what mean?

*Lemona bowed to the winged mare*

"I fine with this, Why I come."

After hearing her friendliness, she calmed down enough to control her flicking tail. "I Lemona, you?" "Never met others" She didn't want the beautiful mare to leave, she was starting to become a little more curious about her looks.

"Never seen strange kirin like you. Why different?"

Calming down, now her curiousity started to take over and she wanted to know everything about these two kirin. She still had a very childlike mind. She wanted to ask so many questions.

Omega chortled warmly to Lemona, running from around his companion to greet the brightly colored mare. He gave a quick greeting to Odin as well, though it was clear he was more interested in the mare.

Shaking her head, Nemesis laughed softly. "It seems Omega is fond of you, Lemona." She smiled, happy the other mare had calmed a bit. "My name is Nemesis." Her second question to her was a bit more difficult to understand. Knowing she had to choose her words carefully, she paused for a moment, thinking. "I'm honestly not sure why I am different, Lemona. I've never met another quite like me. I do think, though, that being different makes us... unique... special."

Lemona moved her snout down towards Omega. "Hello, FizGig on back, would play but sleep always."

This wasn't so bad after all, talking to others. She was still a little fidgety and maintained a lowered stance to the others.

special yes...you fly like bird?

Odin cocked his head at Lemona's question. She didn't know what docile meant? Well, that was a bit off. But still, maybe she'd been born into a weird family; her speech was another clue pointing to that. Ah well. She still seemed nice. "Well..." he started, thinking about what words he would use. "Docile means..kind. Caring. Gentle. Basically, a docile kirin is one who doesn't hurt others, and is nice to them." He suddenly heard a chortle and looked down to see a Norora glance at him, before turning to the golden and cream mare. One side of his maw smiled; apparently the creature was more interested in the mare than him. He didn't mind; she deserved the attention more than he did. He chuckled at Lemona's comment of her familiar, the lump on top of her back; FizGig, was it? A comment formed in his mind, but he quickly shot it down; might seem rash. The mare's question to Nemesis--ah, so that was her name!--made him smile, as well. "I do believe she does fly," he said kindly. "Like the birds, as you said. I do wish that I could fly; hence these feathers." He shook his mane a little, letting the multi-hued feathers flop a bit; then he looked to Nemesis. "What is it like, flying? You can see I've never done so before, but I have always wanted to."

She gave the slightest of nods as she folded her wings delicately at her sides. "Yes, I can fly, just like a bird." She smiled warmly to both of her new friends, as she took another moment to think of what she might say next. It wasn't easy to describe flight to another who was unable to do so. Still, she would do her best to try.

"It's, well, freedom, I suppose. It's not unlike running as fast as you can in a large open field, feeling the wind rush around you. Or, perhaps like standing on one of the large jagged teeth that looks over the valley and feeling the stronger winds there push past you, as though trying to push you down. As you can tell, it's difficult to describe, but it is... a wonderful feeling."

"Oh, I like docile. It's good way" She was still a little distracted with Omega, occassionally bending over to smell and look at the norora

Lemona was thinking of the feeling of running that Nemesis was describing. She loved that feeling. She started to wish she could fly...but the wings seemed rather large and seemed more likely to get in the way than do lift such a large animal as a kirin.

"I love run fast, but FizGig not hold on good." "Is hard to fly?, birds small, kirin big, seems it not easy. How long fly for?....can I see"

Every answer just made her more and more curious about these kirin. She was now actually getting kind of excited which was more in her childlike nature.
