~Fairytale~
[1/3]

Act One: The Beginning

Stonehenge is one of the world’s greatest mysteries.
What secrets it withholds are left to imagination.

Night was beginning to settle over the sleepy land of the United Kingdom, and yet the persona of this lush green country had gone missing. Along with its former colony that laid north of the United States. Now usually after a summit meeting it wouldn’t be so strange that everyone would go back to their hotels and relax, but for the two nations to miss dinner. That meant that something was wrong, at least in America’s mind. Alfred was going to meet Arthur, Matthew and Francis for dinner but when the time came only Francis appeared. After about ten minutes of waiting Alfred finally decided to go look for the missing duo.

Francis’s remained at the restaurant just in case the two decided appear while Alfred made his first stop at the Canadian’s hotel room. His brother wasn’t there, only the polar bear that Matthew always, always, carried with him. Alfred’s worry grew as he left the polar bear in the room and made a dash to Arthur’s house.

-Meanwhile-

Stonehenge rested as the mist curled it’s self around the stone structures. Within the circle of stone laid a completely different world. The gateway only opened during dawn and dusk. A thirty minute window that no one has managed to obtained. Still when the sun began to set on one side, it rose on the other.

The citizens of this world began to stir when the sunlight touched dew covered grass. Now the thing about these citizens is that the grass wasn’t something you stepped on. Oh no you lived in it. Snails and other bugs were useful as transportation. Now that may seem odd but in this world the citizens of this world were faeries.

As the citizens began to get ready for their day there was one already up and about. This one was always a little restless when morning came but it was expected since it was still so young. This fairy took the appearance of a young boy with blond hair, one strand sticking up stubbornly in a curl. He wore a red vest with tails with a long sleeved white undershirt, and red pants to finish off the outfit. On his back were wings, colored softly with green and white. They weren’t rounded like most fairy wings as they ended in points like the bottom of a yellow tiger butterfly. It set him as different but it never bothered him after all, wings come in different forms after all.

Now this little fairy continued on his way to a certain mushroom home where someone important to him lived. Once he arrived he knocked excitedly on the wooden door.

“Arthur!” The little fairy called hoping that the other one was awake and moving. He didn’t want to wait to go get mushrooms. Of course usually when they picked little mushrooms together, Arthur would pick more than him. The little fairy was about to knock again when the door swung open revealing a disheveled little fairy.

“Matthew! Why are you so chirper in the mornings?” Arthur grumbled looking at the other who just smiled politely back at him. Arthur had light purple wings with a bit of white. His green eyes looked into calm blue/lavender that weren’t deterred by glasses. Now for Arthur his outfit was a bit simpler, with just a blue vest and pants accompanied with a long sleeved undershirt and a red bow. For now Arthur was barefoot but
it wouldn’t last long.

“We get to pick mushrooms today that’s why. After all I don’t get to see you a lot anymore.” was Matthew’s reply. Arthur gave him a look, still the look was rather useless thanks to the big brushy eyebrows the other happened to have. Most faeries nicknamed Arthur, caterpillar eyebrows because of it. After a moment Arthur grumbled and put on his socks and shoes before grabbing the baskets and heading out.

“Alright, let’s go.” He said giving a basket to Matthew and heading out into the sunlight. It was going to be a beautiful day.

-Back in England-

Alfred was ready to pull his hair out for Arthur wasn’t home either, according to the maid Matthew had arrived earlier and both of them left to get dinner. At least he knew that they were together, but the thing was that when he called Francis he said that neither of them had arrived yet. Growling Alfred continued his search, and was surprised to find himself at Stonehenge. When Alfred was Arthur’s colony awhile back the Englishman had brought him here once. Telling him a tale about his storybook friends and that there was another world within the circle of the stones. Alfred laughed at the thought of it. Maybe Arthur went into that other world? Alfred chuckled at the idea but found him walking to the spot where the supposed “gateway” was.

“It wouldn’t hurt to try right? I’m the hero so I have to try everything right?” He said as he looked at the entrance. He shuddered a bit wondering what he’s going to would actually work and if he would be able to get back or not. He glanced back at the setting sun before sighing and running a hand through his hair. Okay he could do this that’s what he kept telling himself. After a few more seconds he took a deep breath, closed his eyes and stepped forward.

-Within Stonehenge-

When Alfred opened them he was surprised to see sunlight. He didn’t know what happened; after all he just stepped through an opening that was it. No special words, nothing! Now he was in daylight in a garden? Well there was flowers and tall grass along with mushrooms. It was, well magical. He’ll kick himself later for being so cheesy but for now it was just neat to be here. The sun was shining and you could still see the stones of Stonehenge. He even turned around to see the entrance behind him. The hole within the stones were the fading light color. Didn’t Arthur tell him that the door closed when the sun was gone? Great he’d have to look around quickly. The only thing was he could see the entire area and there wasn’t a sign of Arthur or Matthew.

Well that was until he heard two far away voices. In a daze Alfred looked around but saw nothing but the slight movement of grass a few inches in front of him. Carefully he kneeled down and leaned forward just a little bit. Thankfully his shadow was behind him so he didn’t have to worry about it casting over whatever was moving. What he found completely shocked him.

Within the grass about half the size of the grass length were two little people with wings on their backs. Wings! These couldn’t be Arthur’s little fairy buddies could it? Upon closer inspection he noticed that the two faeries…looked exactly like Arthur and Matthew! Not being able to hold in his excitement or shock he spoke.

“Arthur! Mattie!” he practically yelled in joy and carefully scooped the two faeries up. But for the faeries it was a nightmare. They were just out picking mushrooms, well at least Arthur was, when suddenly this giant appeared. Matthew remembered the story Arthur had told him one time that a giant would come into the lands and kidnap children and faeries who daydreamed when picking mushrooms. He thought it was just a tale to get him to pick more mushrooms but if the giant was here and holding them then it had to be true. When it spoke their names Matthew almost fainted!

“A-Arthur i-it knows our names! W-what are we going to do!” Matthew all but cried as he clung to Arthur’s vest. The other fairy lightly petted the other’s hair trying to get him to calm down.

“It’s alright Matthew we’ll get out of this.” Arthur said before looking up at the giants face. Arthur was surprised to see it resemble Matthew but with glasses but it also resembled another fairy he knew.

“What do you want with us!” Arthur yelled up at the giant. Who seemed to blink in surprise. Alfred was puzzled on why the fairy version of Arthur would as such a thing. America continued to stare at the one inch faeries.

“What do you mean! I’ve been looking everywhere for the two of you! Now stop messing around and lets go back home.” Alfred said his voice getting quieter, which was an astounding feat for Alfred, when the two faeries covered their ears. Also it seemed like he was making the Arthur fairy angry while the Matthew one just looked ready to pass out.

“Home? We are home! Now put us down!” Arthur said masking the fear in his voice. He didn’t know what he was going to do if they had to escape, because even though Matthew looked old enough the boy couldn’t fly yet and there would be no way Arthur could carry both their weight. He saw the giant’s face contort into an angry look. Alfred didn’t have the time to convince Arthur to go back so he’ll just have to carry the two back. He brought up his other hand to cover the two so they wouldn’t try and fly away when suddenly. The Matthew fairy pushed the Arthur fairy off of his hand yelling something like ‘run’.

Arthur was stunned as he plummeted to the ground. He didn’t think Matthew would do such a thing. Wide green eyes connected with teary blue/lavender eyes before they were covered by a hand. Arthur’s eyes filled with tears as he flew a little bit away, he knew he couldn’t save Matthew when the other fairy was covered and captured.

As for Alfred he was still stunned for a moment not only because of what the smaller of the two did but because the small fairy in his hands hadn’t moved after he covered it. He was a little worried until it move just a little bit. Maybe it had finally fainted from fright? He didn’t know but what he did know was that the sun was almost gone. He had to leave. With a sigh he figured he’ll come back and get Arthur or maybe the other would use some magic spell to return back. Still he’ll get Arthur no matter what the fairy had said.

Alfred turned around and headed out not noticing that the fairy Arthur was flying behind him. When Alfred stepped through the gateway, the sun disappeared and Arthur was left on the other side crying out for Matthew.

~Fairytale~
[2/3]

Act Two: The Adventure (?)

Alfred sat in the grass near the parking lot, he had uncovered the small fairy in his hands to see that it indeed had fainted. He felt sorry that he had scared Matthew so but they had to leave that place sometime. The only thing was, was Matthew stuck like this until he could get Arthur? He didn’t know but he hoped that Matthew would be alright. Anyways he figured he’ll phone Francis and let him know what was going on. The phone rang a couple of times before the Frenchmen picked up.

“Bonjour?” was the greeting Alfred got.

“Hey Francis, I found Mattie. Do you mind coming by and picking me up near Stonehenge?” Alfred said waiting for the nation’s reaction.

“Ah! You have?! How wonderful! I’ll be there as soon as I can. Oh I have found Arthur. I’ll bring him along.” Francis said before hanging up. That made Alfred stop and look at the phone. Wait, weren’t the two supposed to be together? Maybe Arthur was able to get out and somewhere, where Francis could find him. Well he’ll get it figured out when the other two arrived. While he waited he gently examined the small fairy. It had yet to wake and he was beginning to worry about it. He did see the small chest rise and fall with breaths so it was still alive. That was the good thing. Upon further examination he noticed that this Matthew didn’t have glasses. Which was a bit odd but sometimes the Canadian would forget his glasses. Anyways Alfred continued to look at the fairy wondering what they were going to do with him until they could change Matthew back.

After a few more minutes he heard a car engine and looked up. The lights shined at him so he stood not to be blinded any further, and he covered the little fairy up so the light wouldn’t bother him if he should wake. The engine still ran as Arthur got out and ran up to Alfred. When England didn’t see Matthew a scowl replaced the look of relief.

“Well where is he?” Arthur demanded his scowl getting worse when Alfred gave him a confused look.

“Hey you were with him when I found him!” Alfred said suddenly pointing a finger at Arthur with his free hand. The action caused Arthur to notice that Alfred was holding something in his hand. Moving quickly Arthur looked at what the other was holding.

“Alfred, where did you get him? Let alone see him?” Arthur growled as he gently picked up the unconscious fairy from the American’s hand.

“Why do you keep asking me that? You were there to! Hell you were one of the faeries!” Alfred said loudly of course. Arthur continued to glare at him before he looked the little fairy over.

“Get in the car; we’ll clear this up at my house.” He said without looking at Alfred as he returned to the car. Alfred soon followed wondering what was going on with Arthur.

-Meanwhile-

Arthur pounded on the invisible field for awhile now, as tears rolled down his face. He couldn’t believe what had just happened. He let Matthew get taken by that giant and then he let the giant escape! The fairy growled at itself and sat down by the entrance. He’ll wait there until the door opened, the only thing. How was he going to find Matthew once he got to the other side?

-At England’s house-

Arthur, Alfred and Francis sat in the living room as a pillow lay in the middle of coffee table. On the pillow rested the small fairy as it still refused to wake. A few other faeries had come to see what was happening and were ecstatic to see the little guy. The girls cooed over how adorable he was.

“Mon Cheri, it seems like you’re little friends are real, but if that is so why am I only able to see this one?” Francis asked moving his hand towards the unconscious fairy before Arthur’s hand stopped him.

“I wonder that to, and it’s obvious that this fairy isn’t like the girls.” Arthur said as the other fairies giggled, one patting the smaller faeries head. “Still what bothers me is how you managed to find him Alfred, and you have yet to tell me.”

“I keep telling you! You were there. You were a little fairy too!” Alfred yelled, once again being the loud American.

“Where was this?” Arthur said his voice rising as well. The two began to argue, their elevated voices waking the small fairy.

Matthew stirred when there was some loud noises boomed over head. Like thunder, of course Matthew always slept through those but this was different. When he opened his eyes, he saw the girl faeries that have been England’s friends for centuries. These faeries weren’t like the ones back home. They had dragonfly wings and where about an inch or so bigger.

“Um, h-hello?” He said quietly that seemed to set the faeries off. The girls squealed in delight and hugged Matthew. Matthew blushed and when he saw what was around them his eyes widened. There were three giants this time. The one that had found him, one with flowing blond hair almost like his but longer, and the third was Arthur?!

“Arthur?!” he called out, that seemed to gain the giant’s attention from yelling at the one who found him.

“You know me?” the giant asked kneeling down on the floor to get a better look at the small fairy. It scared him to have someone so big looking at him. So he clung to the closest thing, which happened to be one of the faeries that were still hugging him. The fairy ran a hand through Matthew’s hair gently. She gave Arthur a look, not liking having the small fairy scared.

“I-I’m sorry, my name is Arthur so I was surprised when you said my name.” England said in an apologetic tone. “Speaking of names what’s yours little one?”

“I-It’s Matthew, and I’m sorry for surprising you! You just look so much like my Arthur.” The little fairy muttered. It was a bit hard to hear, but Arthur caught it.

“Y-Your Arthur?” England asked which suddenly caught the interest of the other two nations.

“Oh~ has the little fairy been following you Arthur?” Francis said with a sly smile, only to be punched in the face from a furious Arthur. The Matthew hid behind the other faeries wondering what he had gotten himself into.

-Time Skip: Meanwhile-

Arthur had fallen asleep leaning against the invisible barrier while waiting for the sun to rise. Of course when sleeping the sun did rise and the barrier dissolved. Making the little fairy fall backwards into the land of the giants.

With a small “oof” after hitting his head on the solid ground. Quick to get up Arthur was determined to find Matthew. The only thing was that he didn’t know where Matthew was. Deciding on getting a better view Arthur took off into the air, and what he saw almost made him want cry all over again.

There in the distance was blond hair and a curl that could only belong to Matthew. Quickly flying towards his long lost friend, he even cried out the others name. Still as he continued to get closer, ‘Matthew’ got bigger. Unable to stop himself Arthur ran right into the others head. The giant turned around surprised and saw the little fairy falling towards the ground. Quick to act the giant cupped his hands and caught Arthur, a worried look on its face.

“Oh no! Are you alright?!” The giant asked, blue-lavender eyes looking at him from behind thin glasses.

“I-I’m fine, I-I just mistook you for someone!” Arthur said getting up and getting ready to fly off but noticed that one of his wings hurt a bit. He tried to take off but found himself unable.

“You’re not fine, you’re hurt…” The giant said in a gentle tone as it set the fairy on a soft ground, which Arthur soon figured it out to be a blanket. Arthur looked around to see a giant basket and some clean plates, but as he continued to look around, he noticed that there was only one giant. Shouldn’t this giant be with someone? Like the one that took Matthew.

“Why are you by yourself?” Arthur asked the giant.

“Oh, well you see last night I was supposed to have a picnic with my ‘family’.” Matthew said with a gentle laugh but Arthur could see that the other was saddened at this face. “But it seems that they forgot, I even tried calling them but they haven’t answered me so far.”

“I-I’m sorry,” Arthur said to the giant, he didn’t know why he was apologizing to the giant, maybe it was because this one resembled Matthew so much.

“It’s not your fault, but now the question goes for you as well, why are you out here by yourself?” the giant asked.

“One of you took my friend, I’m out here looking for him.” Was Arthur’s reply.

“Well what’s his name? I can help you look.” The giant suggested making Arthur’s eyes go wide. Why would this person be willing to help him?

“Why?” Arthur asked.

“Because, it’s not fun being alone. I should know that.” Said the giant with one of those heartbreaking smiles. It was that smile that the little fairy couldn’t say no to.

“I-it’s Matthew.” Arthur whispered, but the Giant couldn’t hear it for it being so quiet.

“Can you repeat that?” the giant requested waiting for the answer.

“It’s Matthew.” Arthur said louder this time, and was shocked when the Giant chuckled lightly. “What’s so funny?!”

“Ah, I’m sorry I don’t mean to laugh. But that’s my name as well.” The Giant said as he gently put his hand down for Arthur to climb up on. “Didn’t you say that your friend looked like me as well?”

Arthur nodded as he climbed up on the giant’s hand, stumbling a bit when the giant, no Matthew, brought his hand up.

“Speaking of look-a-likes, you look like my ‘father’ Arthur.” Matthew said now that he had gotten a better look at the fairy in his hand.

“R-really? T-that’s also my name…” the Fairy replied as he jumped onto Matthew’s shoulder. Matthew began packing up the picnic, wondering what he could do with the fairy.

“Well at least this way we won’t forget each other’s names,” Matthew said with a smile as he finished packing the picnic, after all there wasn’t that much to pack.

“I’m sure my Arthur will know how to help you find your Matthew so I’m going to give him a call.” Matthew said as he pulled out his phone. The glowing screen confused Arthur for the moment, since he never saw anything like it before. The Matthew just offered another kind smile before pressing something and bringing the device up to his ear. A look of relief appeared on his face before he said:

“Hello Arthur.”

Secret Santa
PruCan

[Title Needed!]
-suggestions greatly apperciated-

Breath crystallized in the air as Gilbert waited on the doorstep of Matthew’s house. They were heading somewhere, a “surprise” the Canadian said, and they were just about to go when Matthew had forgotten something. So he ran back inside for something and left Gilbert out on the porch. Now the Prussian knew snow and the cold but Canada was freezing. Not cold but absolutely freezing, he didn’t know how anyone could survive, let alone live, in a place like this. Of course when he complained of this before Matthew just laughed and said he was being over dramatic. Well, the Canadian wasn’t the one standing on the porch in the cold now was he? After a few more minutes Matthew reappeared with a smile and a box I his arms.
“Sorry about that Gilbert, shall we get going?” the Canadian asked as he already moved towards the waiting car.
“God, yes I’m freezing.” Gilbert stated following Matthew who rolled his eyes at the statement. He loaded the box in the back seat before getting into the driver’s side. Gilbert went straight for the passenger seat and huddled close to any heat source. That at the time being Matthew, so staying close to the Canadian until the car heated up the, and Prussian was comfortable. After driving to through downtown they came to the park, and Gilbert was hesitant on leaving the car.
“Please Gilbert, you’ve wanted to do this for a couple weeks!” Matthew coaxed trying to get the other out of the car.
“I know I’m awesome Mat, but I’m not going to do that in the cold and in the public.” Gilbert said, the statement made Matthew flush and sputter for a moment before he regained his composition.
“That’s not what I meant!” Matthew said his face still red as he opened the car door. “Come on Gilbert it’s suppose to be a surprise I don’t want to ruin it.”
The Canadian gave Gilbert a pout that he couldn’t say no to so with a sigh he opened his door and exited the warm car. Matthew’s face brightened with a smile as he grabbed a box and headed into the park. With a little walk from the lot they soon reached their destination and Gilbert couldn’t help but stare in awe. It was a beautiful lit pond, since night had fallen; there was a bare willow tree at the iced water’s edge, and a bridge not too far off that had a rope across the ice with a sign saying ‘thin ice’. Gilbert took notice to stay far from that area.
The ice was sleek and reflected the artificial light of the Christmas strands but you could see the marks that current and day skaters had made on the surface. Still it was just awe inspiring.
“Come on Gilbert let’s get on the ice!” Matthew said happily as he set the box down and sat himself on a moved bench that wasn’t occupied by anyone else’s things. Thankfully the benches were moved closer to the ice so the skaters wouldn’t struggle or hurt themselves actually getting to the ice. The Canadian took out white and red pair of skates and a white and black pair for Gilbert. Now of course there was winter in Germany and he had gone skating before. But, he hadn’t been skating in the last, what sixty years? So he was a bit nervous, though he’d never admit it, about getting back on the ice. Of course Matthew took to it like he was born on ice. Of course the Canadian played hockey, so he was a pro.
“Gilbert come on!” The blonde called out, he had already laced up and was on the ice skating backwards. He had to be careful though there were other people.
“I’m coming, I’m coming!” Gilbert yelled as he finished lacing up his first skate. The second one didn’t take as long but first and he was soon on the ice as well. The Prussian stumbled a bit before regaining his balance. Matthew laughed at this as he skated by.
“Hey! You show off get back here!” Gilbert shouted as he did his best to catch the other, but he failed horribly as he lost his balance. “Damn it!”
Matthew, who was laughing, suddenly stopped and skated up to the fallen Prussian. The albino remained seated on the ice, but rubbed his lower back.
“Are you alright?” Matthew asked leaning over and offering a hand to Gilbert. The other murmured something before accepting the hand and getting up. He almost lost his balance again but Matthew made a good support.
“Thanks Mat.” Gilbert said, he didn’t know why he wanted to go ice skating in the first place but he had to admit it wasn’t so bad since Matthew was there.
“Not a problem, I’ll take it easy and that way can get used to the ice.” Matthew said as he started to move. Gilbert stumbled a bit more but with Matthew as his support he didn’t fall. After a few laps around the ice the two soon bypassed what others where there and after awhile it dwindled down to just the two of them. After Gilbert had gotten used to skating without Matthew by his side they did a little game of ‘cat and mouse’ and when Matthew was finally caught their laughter echoed throughout the winter wonderland.
Deciding to take a break from skating they sat on the bench and looked at the night sky. After a few seconds of relaxing Gilbert felt a light pressure on his cheek, which was red from the cold but he had long forgotten the freezing temperature of Canada, surprised he turned his head to see Matthew pulling away, his face red as well but not as much from the cold. The Canadian gave an adorable shy smile.
“Merry Christmas, Gilbert.” Matthew said and Gilbert was taken aback a little bit and looked at his watch. It was midnight they had been out here for hours. Well Gilbert couldn’t leave Matthew hanging so he grabbed the other gently and brought them close. With a passionate kiss that lasted a bit longer then it should have, Gilbert returned the kiss. When he pulled back of course Matthew was panting a bit. So with a sly smile Gilbert stayed close and whispered in the others ear:
“Merry Christmas Matthew, shall we head home so I can give you my gift?”
With that said the two left with a little hurry in their step to get home, and Gilbert found that things can get hot during a Canadian winter, especially after a romantic night of ice skating.

The End.
