How did Naruto know that Yondaime is his father?

Just as the title says. I really don't know why and how did Naruto know that? There's no way Jiraiya could tell him 'cause he's already dead before the manga reveals that Naruto and Yondaime is father-and-son...

I also noticed that on the last episode of NARUTO (before Shippuuden), Naruto said something and then looked at the sculpture of his father in the mountain (where all Hokages head are carved).

Just how did he know that?????????????? User Image

naruto didn't know. when he was going all nine-tails his dad showed up in his mind and stopped him. plus he said"i wanted to see how my son has grown"

To answer the other part of your question. When Naruto looked up at the Hokage's faces before leaving the village, If I remember correctly, he made a challenge to Minato as a Hokage. It had nothing to do with him being his dad. So he didn't know.
