A mobile island oasis on the back of a turtle. Many small turtles inhabit the pond in the forest on its back. The only known human inhabitant is a hermit who cares for the turtles. Every so often it will go to land to feast on trees. It bears no ill will toward people nor does it wish to go against any. The elder turtle Oasis aimlessly travels, with its caretaker the hermit Neric, and has existed beyond recorded time. Travelers are welcome on Oasis and, with persuasion from Neric, can be brought to a destination. It holds a great secret that many seek. (Picture similiar to intended appearance)

I think it's a great idea. Though, won't you need another character? This one seems like a character that stays with the turtle so you wouldn't get to interact much unless people want a ride.

nonsarcastic answer: Couldn't say since a guy that size would put someone out of business. Poor birds and squirrels, hopefully they weren't in the trees when he went eating. lol

I just picked it from the ones I found in my search, anyway the secret on it is the fountain of youth. That is how it lives forever and how Nerik doesn't look like a wrinkly old guy. Also how why he wants to know the year. Basically asks the year every time he lands because at sea he doesn't account for time passed and that is how he figures his age. Though it doesn't matter much to him. It is just something to do to better keep himself a sane human. Anyway fountain of youth thing, he protects it from those who would exploit it. He knows not to say like hey don't go to the pond in the middle, cause then everyone will be thinking why not and try to sneak there. They would only know it was the fountain of youth if they were under its effect long enough, or if he said the wrong thing about the little turtles in it. Like perhaps later on Kali may say "Oh they are so cute." Nerik might mess up and say. "Yea they always have been." If she knew how long he had been there she might be able to figure out its the fountain of youth. Anyway, just thought I would go ahead and say the secret I slightly mentioned on the first post.

Wow, and he doesn't regret living forever young? doesn't get tired of it? Does it prevent diesease and illness? So then he is young and old at the same time?

Ok, this may seem like a silly question, but I really gotta ask it... even at the risk of looking foolish...
Now, some species of turtles can live up to 250 years, or at least that is how zoologists figure it supposedly scientifically but that is besides the point...
If this island is mobile, and it pretty much exists on the back of this turtle that swims around in the oceans ans seas and feeds on the trees of other islands... How old is this turtle? What happens to the island and the fountain of youth on its back when the turtle dies, or does the fountain of youth work its magic on the turtle through penetration of its exterior shell?
Its an amazing storyline but I gotta ask that one question because it is quite the puzzler! For my foolish self anyway.

Are there any other kinds of animals or creatures living on this mobile island? I mean, what does Neric eat? Certainly not Turtle soup! EEK!
