And our battlefield is...
The Seashore Field
Split down the middle between land and sea, this field compliments land and water type pokemon. On the west end of the field is the land section: fine grained sand gradually slopes downward to meet the salt water on the east end of the battleground. A single palm tree wavers lightly in the breeze (the stadium ceiling is open when this field is selected) while shells are scattered in random places in and on the sand. In the water half of the battleground, the water laps at the sand much like at a real beach; when it retracts it leaves behind strands of seaweed and pieces of coral. Both are found under the water, offering shelter for water-types (or those who can hold their breath for great periods of times).
This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to GROUND and WATER type attacks.

Jenette smiled, she was finally getting back into battling... then again, she kept facing Raina, so it wasn't too much of a challenge. One thing she knew, no matter who lost they would still be friends. Then again, they kind of had too...
Looking around she noticed she had arrived first, "That's a first..." She mumbled to herself, looking down to Venna with a smile. Heading to the screen she watched the screen flip through the different settings, Jenette found herself intrigued with the new battling grounds. "Seashore? That's a new one..." She thought as she made her way to the stadium, Venna following happily behind her.

Raina entered the stadium panting for breath. She had almost forgotten about her battle with Jenette today and as she and Amaryllis rushed out of the house and into town she couldn't shake the feeling she had forgotten something else as well.
Once she reached her podium Raina saw that the field had already been selected and Jenette was standing on the other side with Venna. She smiled and waved "Sorry I'm late. I completely forgot we were battling today." she laughed and then looked down at Amaryllis who was in much better shape than her trainer. The little raichu wasn't even breathing hard, but she was looking across the stadium with electricity crackling around her. It had been far too long since she'd been in a real battle and she couldn't wait.
Once Amaryllis had made her way out onto the battlefield Raina began contemplating just how to win this battle. After all, it wouldn't do for Amaryllis to lose her first battle since her long abscence from the stadium.

Jenette laughed and waved to her winded friend. "Glad you could join us!" Grinning she looked down to Venna. "Are you ready to do this? I know you just got out of the PokeCenter... but I have faith in you." She said as she scooped up her vulpix and snuggled her. "You'll do fine." She said reassuringly and set her on the edge.
Venna barked happily, licking Jenette's hand before jumping to the beach. This was going to be... fun! How could she resist her signature move? She looked up to Jenette then to the Raichu. Opening her mouth Venna shot off a Fire Blast attack.

Raina grinned as Jenette replied and shook her head, laughing it off. As Venna came out onto the battlefield and unleashed her first attack of the battle Raina called out to her raichu "Dodge it Ammy." The raichu wasn't stupid and she darted to the left as the fire kanji came towards her, she managed to miss the worst of it but she felt a distinct burning pain in her tail which meant it had been caught in the blaze. At least it wasn't on fire.
"Use Rollout!" Raina called to her raichu after she had recovered from her tail being singed by the fire blast attack.
Upon hearing Raina's command Amaryllis leapt into the air, curling into a ball in the process, and once she hit the ground she was off like a rocket, rolling straight for Venna.

Venna was plowed over by the rollout and the sand offered no cushion... that wasn't very nice at all. For some reason Venna's mood was still in a rather good. Without waiting for the raichu to come rolling back, Venna began to dig. The sand gave-way easier than she expected so she was soon getting deeper, faster.
Waiting for a brief moment to decide where Ammy was above her, Venna began her dig up, hoping to be right under her.

As Amaryllis came rolling back towards her starting side of the stadium she heard the sound of digging and she was quick to speed up and avoid the impending impact as the little fox poked up above ground.
Turning once more she circled back and aimed to plow the little fox over just one more time.

So much for making contact... although it was the first time Venna had ever tried that attack, she wasn't about to be put down by it. She was quick to react to the Raichu rolling back towards her and jumped, a black ball of dark energy forming at her mouth. Waiting until she touched back to the ground did she shoot it off.

Amaryllis worked hard to change her course as she went barrelling towards the side of the arena. After a sharp turn she sped back towards Venna, even faster than her previous two passes. The dark energy hit her but was ricocheted off in various directions only doing a small amount of damage to the electric mouse.
Checking her course briefly by sound rather than sight Amaryllis took a course headed straight for the fire fox pokemon, maybe she could flatten her this time, wouldn't that be amusing?

"Vul!" Venna squeeked as Ammy circled about to hit her yet again with the rollout. Without thinking Venna took tot he dirt, digging a hole right in Ammy's path. Trying her hardest she focused on where the mouse was, she was determined to get her this time. Waiting a split second to aim for the sweet spot, Venna darted up out of the ground.

Amaryllis knew she had missed her target only a moment after she passed the spot where she knew Venna had been and she grumbled angrily to herself. Unfortunately her grumbling made her unable to hear Venna as she tunneled under the earth and soon Ammy was flying through the air and landed with a thud on the sand near the water. Rising to her paws she glared at the fox who was now above ground again. RAICHU! RAIII! she bellowed furiously as electricity crackled around her.
The static in the air had the hair on Raina's arms, not to mention the hair on her head, standing up on end and she knew that Amaryllis was getting frustrated with her attacks missing. Thinking quickly she called out to her raichu, hoping she would listen despite her anger "Ammy, show that vulpix what a Thunder attack feels like!"
Upon hearing the command from her trainer the raichu nodded, rising up on her hind legs she let the electric energy surge through her, and finally she released one massive amount of electric energy, multiple lightning bolts crashed down to the field leaving the sand blackened or in some cases, turned into glass in it's wake. The fox couldn't possibly avoid all of that, unless she had gone under ground again.

Venna thought quickly and jumped into one of the holes she had already dug and moved about as much as possible. She heard the thundering above her and winced as she was near enough to a bolt that she lost her sense of hearing for a moment.
Without thinking Venna jumped out of the hole, by the nearest enterance, turned about to where ever she thought the Raichu was standing and blasted a Fire Spin in her general direction.
