Why was the sun so hot? Every time Thunder took a step out of shade it felt like it was trying to burn his very coat away. But staying hidden in the shade was really boring. The colt sighed, torn between comfort and amusement. Finally boredom got the better of him and he left the bushes and trotted out into the field. Maybe he could find a stream to play in and keep cool that way. It would be much more fun, too. She didn't mind the heat; the stream kept her nice and cool. Jaloo's pale blue eyes watched the fish before she chased them into the deeper parts of the water, enjoying the way the water flowed through her coat and mane, even her tail! It was times like this, the little filly was glad she lived by the river. Her father wasn't far away, napping against a tree in the shade, a holler away if there was danger. She giggled, plotting something to wake him up, watching it take shape in her head. A wicked grin appeared on Jaloo's muzzle as she stepped upon the rocks in the shallow part again, shaking herself off. "Hm..."

Ugh! Was there relief anywhere? Maybe there was a reason his mother never left the trees. If it was like this outside the forest all of the time, he wouldn't want to leave either. He'd only been walking for about 5 minutes, but it felt like hours. Then Thunder paused, wondering if he had heard something. Something like... running water! New energy passed through him as he dashed towards the sound. He ran straight for the stream without looking at anything else. The cool, cool water washed over his back and he smiled. "Ahh, better."
Something splashed her! Turning her head around, Jaloo glared at the offending thing and then blinked a bit more when she saw just what it was. It was a Thunder! A very wet, dripping thunder. Plots changed in her head and she moved over to him, keeping as quiet as she could and then tackled him right back into the water, taking his ear in her mouth, chewing and tugging on it. "HEY. You're in my river!" the filly said as she released his ear.

Thunder's bliss was short lived. Suddenly a flying body sent him tumbling into the water against his will. And to add injury to insult, it was also biting his poor ear. "Owwowwoww! Stop!" Then the filly yelled right into his ear, making him cringe. Looking at her he realized it was Jaloo! That girl he had met that one other time. Immediately he scrambled back to his hooves and frowned. "It's not YOUR river. I don't see your name on it!"
"It is too, MY river," she said with a snort. Blue eyes looked to her father, who had twitched, but not woken up. Smirking a bit more, the filly straightened herself up and then stretched out before chuckling. "Well, well, Thunder. Why are you here? I thought you liked your trees." Jaloo had said the word with teasing in her voice, almost sing song. Trotting around, she hoped to splash him with more water, because she was really teasing like that. "Hey, if we're still, I can show you the fish I told you about. Remember?"

Hmph, it wasn't fair at all. But at least he found the fun he was looking for. Last time he had seen her there had been a race among other fun stuff. "Well well Jaloo," he mocked, making a face. "Yeah I like trees, but trees are boring when everyone wants to sleep." He had seen how she had looked over at something. Maybe she had a boring sleepy parent too. Thunder stood in the water, prepared to retaliate if Jaloo decided to splash him. And knowing what he knew, it was very possible. "Fish?" Thunder had to think back a bit. "Yeah I wanna see fish." 'Still' wasn't easy for him to do, though. Even standing there he kept shifting weight from hoof to hoof.
"Well, we can get out of the water and stay on the shore for a bit. You know, to make the fish come back. It shouldn't take long, honestly." Even as she was talking, Jaloo was heading out of the river and onto land, shaking herself off again and then laid down, not caring about the mud. The filly rather liked mud, to be honest. She liked anything that got her dirty or in trouble; it's just what she liked to do.
Humming slowly, she waited for the colt to follow her out and then continued humming a random tune that she'd had in her head for a few days. "Sometimes things don't go as planed, sometimes we all just need a hand~" Her voice was soft and airy as she sang, making up the words as she went along.
