Anything Malcolm does or says will be in Blue. The classes will last until the Most of the class has mastered the basics of each lesson, which might carry on over to multiple class periods. NO HOME WORK will usually be assigned unless Pro. Malcolm feels it is needed. Be thankful. (and have fun and enjoy the class)
Professor Malcolm walks in smiling and pulls out his wand. You can see his silver stud in his left ear through his black hair, and his amber eyes have a cool confidence to them as he stands before the class. "Hello class. Today we with be doing some wand work, so I ask you all to stand." He waited for all the students to gather their bags before waving his wand and all the desks flew to the sides leaving plenty of open space in the center of the room. "OK now; who can tell me a bit about the Dark Arts?" he said clasping his hands together. He was wearing robes of black with black shoes and a deep red shirt.

Storm smirked and raised her hand like a show off. "The dark arts is what we all know as dark magic. Voldemort used unforgivable curses to -cough- torture -cough- many muggles and -cough- mud-bloods -cough-. There are three unforgivable curses and many dark spells and charms. mastering them may lead to you being feared amongst the wizardry world. " she said, even though the teacher hadn't called on her.

Malcolm turned to where Storm was standing and met her attitude head on and looked her in the eyes even though his tone didn't change. "We raise our hands in this class, Miss Storm. As a 7th year, I would have thought you knew this by now. And I'm afraid I must correct you, for we wouldn't want to give the wrong impression to the other students, now would we?" He waited for her reply, keeping a casual, up-beat posture, like they were have a friendly but animated debate.

Storm rolled her eyes. "Sixth year professor. And I do believe that you are wrong. If we learn the actual dark arts then we could have been strong enough to beat Voldemort without Harry Potter." she flipped her hair with her left hand. "And by the by, just by learning a few magic tricks doesn't make you protected from the dark arts."

Lyra couldn't help but scowl at her classmate and raise her hand, even though she was already standing up. "If we had used the Dark Arts, we have been just as low as Lord Voldemort." she said. "And I think those "magic tricks" you refer to have kept us pretty bloody safe so far."

"If we had used dark arts" Storm said annoyed at Lyra. "And used them right. We could still have beaten him but not have come down to a low reputation." Storm replied.

Catching Marie's eye, he looked back to Storm, but not before he thought (hoping Marie would hear) 'i'm busy, don't you have a class' as a tease. "This is Defense Against the Dark Arts, not 'How to be a Death Eater 101', Miss Storm. So please refrain from add your own personal input and if you want to discuses Harry Potter, then make a history club. Now," he said to the class at large. "In my class you will to learn about, not actually using, dark magic and creatures, and how to prevent and defend yourself against those who wish you ill." He didn't glance at Storm and his tone was warm, but their was definitely an icy chill between the two.

Lyra grimaced and raised her hand politely once more. "About what Storm said, sir... there is no right way to use the Dark Arts," she said simply, "Because the only one who would want or need to would be someone with malicous intentions. That's just how it is, and has always been. Those who want to use Dark Magic for the sake of power are just... just horrible. There are penty of ways to defeat Dark Wizards without their own evil magic." She sat back down, quite red in the face, and looked up at Professor Malcolm for feedback. "Is that right, Professor? Isn't that why you teach us?"

Malcolm looked to Lyra and smiled graciously, "Yes, I think that sums it up well. 10 points to Gryffendor. Now, Starting the term off, we will be learning, or in some cases reviewing some defensive jinxes and curses. So if you all would please pair up and find some where in the room where you have enough room, we'll begin."

Lyra looked around quickly. Everyone else had partnered up except for Storm. Oh great. I get stuck with Miss Future-Death-Eater. She sighed and stood a few feet from Storm. "Alright, I guess we should practice."
