Ok, first thing is first. I am still working on everything. I need to find a few scripts, as well, which will be one of the first few things I do. Sooo! Here we go.

I am up to any suggestions.
Also, I will not be using face images for this game because I can't draw, I haven't found someone willing to draw 8 faces per character and all face generators I've found suck.

To Come: More Classes & Races, Area Names + More.
_______
Progression: Very little

Story:
In "Rune," you follow the story between a mysterious man known as a Rune Blader and Ashe, a young girl who finds the Rune Blader in the forest one day...
(Pretty much, I can't word the story right. It's all explained at the beginning of the game, so no worries.)

Race & Class System:

Races: (All classes are based off “Humans”)

Human
- Humans are the general races of the game. Human’s hold average on all abilities and gain the special ability “Human’s Intervention” at level 16. Human Intervention is an ability all humans learn which is a powerful strike that absorbs a key item that begins to drop off monsters during the end middle of Chapter 1.

Elf - Elves are a very quick and agile race. They hold approximately 2% more Agility then humans, but lack that in -1% Strength & Defense. Elves are generally Hunters, Rangers, Nature Magic Users and on very rare occasions a melee class (Warrior). Elves learn “Wisdom of the Natural” at level 14, which absorbs the same key items that use all other race abilities. Wisdom of the Natural increases the magic abilities by the entire party (Spirit) by 50.
Dongbai - Dongbai are a unique class passed down through generations through the beliefs their all-mighty god was a wolf. Dongbai’s hold much more strength then humans (aprox. 7% more), as well as hold an addition 1% Agility to Humans, but lack 1-2% in all other stats. Dongbai’s learn “Howl” at level 16, which increases Attack of the Dongbai by 250.

Ancients - A very rare race that hardly exist anymore. Ancients are technically humans, but they study through a lot of different resources in their life time and they believe they are not humans. Ancients have higher health and defense (both equal to aprox. 1% higher). Ancients learn a special attack as well known as “Destruction.” It’s a quick swipe of the blade that ignores the defense of the opponent, as well as is a guarantee hit.

Winged People - Winged People are a very secluded race. Living on a remote mountain located on the equator, they stay to themselves, only leaving when need be. Winged People on practice the arts of Sword + Shields and Bows, but are not Warriors nor Rangers. Instead, they are one class known as Sol or Lun and use both as they please. As a race, their stats in both strength and spell power is relatively high, but as Sol their magical ability raises and Lun their physical strength. Winged People learn no race-specific spells.

Classes:
~Special Classes:
Rune Blader - The main class of this game. Your main character isn’t a Runer, but the main actual character of this story is. This class is a secret, you guys can figure it out once the game releases.

Akh’chin - Akh’chin are a strange tribal folk in the southern part of the world. This game is primarily in the northern part of the world, Toketsu Tundra, but you will meet a young girl who is an Akh’chin. Akh’chin’s, also just known as Ahks, are humans who worship a spirit of a bird. They share all special abilities from the for races above, as well as two special abilities. As a consequence, though, they only learn the basic healing spell.

Ashe - Not really a class, just your main character’s class since she’s the only real important member of the game.
___
1) Warriors (Humans, Elves, Ancients) - Strong units, powerful attacks and defense as well as health.
2) Rangers (Humans, Elves) - Quick units, used for medium and long ranged. High agility and attack, low defense.
3) Paladin (Humans) - Powerful units. High attack, defense, health and spirit. Paladins do not learn any attacking abilities, just healing.
4) Priests (Humans, Elves) - The healing class. Not meant to attack, low armor, health but high spirit and mana.
5) Hunter (Elves) Essentially a ranger, but lose a few ranged abilities for melee abilities and the ability to summon a pet.
6) Mage (Humans) - Lightly armored class. Uses Anima Magic (Fire, Water, Ice, Thunder, Earth, etc.)
7*) Sage (Humans) - Medium armored class. Use a key item (“Magic Crest”) at specific locations to turn Mages into Sages. Sage’s use all magic; Dark, Light, Anima, Nature and Alchemy. They also learn a few minor and middle healing spells.
8 ) Samurai (Humans, Elves, Ancients*) - Samurai are a powerful class. They wear medium and light-heavy (woot, oxymoron) armor and are masters with blades. On one occasion, you'll get a samurai who uses two blades, but they generally use one blade. High attack, moderate defense. Low spirit.
9) Defender: (Humans) - Defender are heavily armored units. Not the strongest in physical or magical damage, Defender's have very high health and defense. They're more for boss battle purposes, in case you die - they won't for awhile.
10) Shinobi/Kunoichi: (Humans, Elves, Ancients) - Medium armored units, Ninja's are powerful and quick. They also have a relatively decent strength in their spells. For all the higher stats, their armor is light-medium, rather then medium or heavy-medium.
11) Druid: (Elves, Ancients) - Druid's are nature-magic users, utilizing the world around them. Druid's call forth power from the trees above, and the core below, using special elements only to their specifics, among other "Earthly" elements. (Druid Specific Elements; Grass, Star, Sun || Non-Druid Specific Elements; Earth, Water.) Druid's also learn multiple defense spells and ailment-cure & ailment-inflict spells, among a few healing spells. Druid's are unique, they have strong melee and magical strength, as well as defense, but have low health and magic points.
12) Necromancer: (Humans, Ancients) - Necromancer's are the gods of darkness, in the real world. Utilizing darkness and death, Necromancers have high overall stats, besides health and physical strength. They also learn to summon a companion to take their spot in battle.

Race Specific Classes:
Dongbai - (Under Construction, Might Drop)
1) Berserker - A powerful unit. With medium defense and no magical ability, the hold all their power in physical strength.
2) Shaman - A mythical class based off elemental magic from the earth. Stats comparable to Sage's stats. (Shaman's use a different set of abilities than anima mages - elements; Earth, Water, Fire, Wood)
3) Metal Sage - Metal Sage's are the core class of magic teachings to any Dongbai magic users. They only specialize in medium-strengthed magic (use of metal) and defense spells.
4) D. Feral - High defense class. Stats comparable to Defenders.

Winged People
1) Sol - A unique class. Specialize in healing spells and light offensive spells, Sol units of the Winged People stand out. Sol lack physical strength and health, but they have remarkably high defense, along with magical-spell strength. They use bows as their resource "melee" weapon, which does a decent amount of damage. Considered the "Holy" or "Good" side of the Winged People.

2) Lun - A unique class. Specialize in taking hits and giving them back. They tend to use all-out physical strength attacks. Lun's also learn a few healing spells, but very little. They also learn a few status spells (remove ailment). Besides those few, they are all out strength, utilizing swords and shields. Luns are considered the "Dark" or "Evil" side of the Winged People.

~~Luns and Sols live in harmony, but Luns have black wings and Sols have white wings.~~

An attempt at job refinement:

1) Warriors (Humans, Elves, Ancients, Dongbai) - Strong units, powerful attacks and defense as well as health but lack the capacity for magic.
2) Rangers (Humans, Elves, Dongbai) - Swift units, used for medium and long ranged. High agility and attack, low defense but high evasion.
3) Defender (Humans, Ancients) - Powerful units. High attack, defense, health and spirit. Defenders do not learn any attacking abilities, just healing.
3b) Paladin (Humans, Dongbai) - A more aggressive version of the defender, magical spells for defense and healing accompany holy attacks of both physical and spiritual nature.
4) Priests (Dongbai , Elves) - The healing class. Not meant to attack, low armor, health but high spirit and mana.
5) Hunter (Elves) Essentially a ranger, but lose a few ranged abilities for melee abilities and the ability to summon a pet.
6) Mage (Humans, Elves) - Lightly armored class. Uses Anima Magic (Fire, Water, Ice, Thunder, Earth, etc.)
7*) Sage (Humans) - Medium armored class. Use a key item (“Magic Crest”) at specific locations to turn Mages into Sages. Sage’s use all magic; Dark, Light, Anima, Nature and Alchemy. They also learn a few minor and middle healing spells.
8 ) Samurai (Humans, Dongbai, Ancients*) - Samurai are a powerful class. They wear medium and light-heavy (woot, oxymoron) armor and are masters with blades. On one occasion, you'll get a samurai who uses two blades, but they generally use one blade. High attack, moderate defense. moderate spirit.

((may happs all classes should be made available but the efficiency of power in the class would vary, due to my thinking that most any of these classes could hold any of these jobs.))

8b ) Ninja (Humans, Ancients*) - High in evasion and status affliction, they are built to counter the power of the Samurai class. Lightly armored provides quick movements and forced special techniques to develop. moderate attack, low defense. moderate spirit, high evasion.

I should of stated.
Dongbai are a unique race, they don't follow the classes as the other races. They'll have their own set of classes, which will come towards the end with class to the same names (i.e. Dongbai Warrior) - but their stats are mainly focused on their race versus class. It's complicated (my thoughts) lol.

@ Suggestions - I really like the suggestions, and I appreciate. I'm a bit lazy right now, but I'll over look it in a little bit, add as I see and go from there. Also, at Ninja - I like the submission, I'll use it (adding you to credits now for "Character Development"), I might revise a few things though. Thanks for submitting. I'll do a major overhaul or the first post this weekend!

If you are going to go ahead and have seperate jobs for all the classes, why not just do that and have some areas of overlap accepted.

Ex: instead of an elven warrior, make it an Elven Fencer.
similar stats with race variations that make the class functional to each race.

Main Post. Added:
A New Race
Many New Classes
Section for Race-Specific Classes.

To come:
Area names
Bosses
Screen Shots
+Classes

~~
Also, does anyone have a face generator that doesn't... suck? lol. I didn't want to use faces, but the game would be pretty boring without. I can do without, but - again, would be boring.
_______________
EDIT: Additional Info. Sols and Luns will have a very complex story, that will be a side mission. You'll pick between the Goddess of the Sols, Sola, OR the Goddess of the Lun, Luna. Either way, you'll get +9000 brownie points. Tha's right, over 9000.

Luna will be posted sometime this weekend, among basic designs for a few additional classes.

Can a Lun and Dongbai cross-breed? i wanna be a winged dogie...

so the battle sequences, will they be tile map based? or a strait up party line battle where anyone can attack anyone and location is not relative?

and i assume it will be a one character move around party system, where the main character is the face of the party as they move around the map.

what type of items will be in the world? the typical potion bottles and bandages? or herbs or mage spells more central to theme?

Lol@ First line. *rubs chin and thinks* MEHBE. But, hey, I'm not making a pokemon game here XD. But a doggie flyer? Bad arse right thar.

About Dongbais - Having some issues, the character maker I use, I can give them cat ears, but that's it. I don't remember about tails. If I can make them semi-like cat, then Dongbai's will be switched from wolves to cats and their classes changed to more ninja-like classes, as well as their name switched.

@ Battle System
I'm not 100% Sure yet. If I can get it, I might make it like Fire Emblem's battle system. But, when I took a look at setting up the script, it confused me a bit. Otherwise, I'll be using a line system.

@ Characters
Yes, it will be strictly Main Character stand-alone on the map. Unless I totally drop the class system (class system is actually for a merc system I'll be working on shortly) - then you'll have the follow me addon, but there are only limited main characters as of now. If I drop the merc system, though, it'll be a line based off all main and supporting characters.

@ World question
Well, every RPG has Potions and stuff, but I don't like JUST having the typical +150 Health Potion. Everything will work together. Spells will consume mana, but heal more. Potions will be fairly cheap, but heal very little. Herbs will be more of a status regen/buff/ailment cure rather then health. Bandages will be looked at thoroughly later, but I may drop it. My best idea for bandages is like World of Warcraft's, heals x amount of damage over x amount of time.

ALSO - I will be updating the main post shortly with a few more classes. On top of that, expect a screen shot this weekend of the starting town "Higarashi."
________________
EDIT: Fixed a few typos, added a few more classes. More will come tonight, including the Dongbai's final saying.
EDIT2: Fixed a few more typos, replaced Runer's graphic & Striked Dongbai. I will rework their race soon, they will be cat people named Felia's.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 05, 2009 2:27 pm

To make cat ears more dog like, pinch them from near the top, folding the tips down a little and outward, as for tails, little nubs still work if you don't wanna have a furry mess, homoerectis has a receding spine.

As for your mapping, I WANNA MAP! gimme your tiles and tell me what your using, I like messing around with maps lots and it would be fun for me.

Also, i liked the old rune graphics, keep it and use it as a Job outfit.

I can try and edit, never really gave it a try, but I do know my way around photoshop pretty well. I'll give it a try in a bit and update.

As for mapping, I'm using VX - so it's pretty limited and I know how to work with the VX tiles. So, if you have VX, the basic tiles are what I mainly use.

I'm still debating which to use. If I use the old one, I have to take away something and it'll all be fine.
____
EDIT: I plan on Updating Sola's graphic tonight, uploading Luna's and trying for the Dongbai. Dongbai's final saying isn't out yet.

To be honest with you, I'd rather have Felia's. I suck at editing graphics. If you would like me to make a Dongbai-like Felia, and you can edit the tails and ears, just say so. I would also include you in Graphics & Story Board (since you would allow the Dongbai's become reality).
PostPosted: Sun Sep 06, 2009 9:47 am

Provide me with the basic colors and frame you'd like them to exist on; I will then edit in the images towards my liking.

ALSO! VX? what is the full name of the program?, and have you considered going after a better program to operate off of?

The link I use for characters are above, if you want to just make one yourself and submit it, that's cool.

It's RPG Maker VX from Enterbrain. I use it because 2000 and 2k3 don't have the ruby scripting and XP's graphics don't look right to me, and I HATE Game Maker. I know my way around VX, though. And even though I don't know how to script, I know how to work the scripts and edit them.

I was lazy last night, I'll be uploading and updating soon.

I'll mess with it later, but paint works fine when editing sprites.

Awesome ^^. PhotoShop zooms in really close, though, so it allows shading to be a tad-bit easier.
