Zuberi was out on a patrol... a patrol for what he wasn't sure but he was patrolling. Life around the pack had been boring for him lately and he had felt a need to get out an about even more so. He slinked through long grass that was around him. He wasn't sure what he was looking for but what ever it was he was going to sneak up on it.

He broke through the long grass and made his way to a pond that was just ahead of him. He dipped his head down and began to drink, it was a warm night out, and being from a nocturnal pack he wasn't use to heat at all, he looked up at the full moon. He finished his drink and turned to lie down under a tree, he wasn't really tired but he didn't really see much else to do so he lied down hoping something would find him.

Escaping into the night seemed like an amazing idea. Especially since the female he had just been with was growing a little.....clingy. Clingy females that weren't his mate were a bad thing. Yes, very, very, bad. He had resolved to settle in next to a tree that overlooked a small body of water for the night. The dirt was cool, and the reflection of the moon on the water was breathtaking. Not that it really mattered to him. Things like that only mattered when he was trying to impress a female, or set a certain mood. It was nice, though, to see it by himself for a change. After being smothered long enough by constant company, being alone actually sounded nice. Or not encased by a female, that is. Some masculine company wouldn't be too bad, as long as it wasn't a lion. No, lions were bad news.

Zuberi perked up when he saw the other creature approaching him. He had spent most of the night alone and he was looking for a friend. Coming from the pack he came from he loved everyone, it was just the way he was raised. He stood and stretched getting ready to great the other creature.

The creature settled a couple of trees away from the one Zuberi had been under. As Zuberi walked over to him, the creature hadn't looked his way yet, he seemed to be watching the moon. Zuberi cleared his throat, "Hello there." he said. Because of his lack of experience with any thing other then dogs, he wasn't overly sure on how they interacted. The only thing he had ever seen other then a wild dog was a lion when he was younger.... it hadn't been very nice to him.

Flicking his ears up, Mauja didn't bother lifting his head. He merely slid his eyes to the side, watching the young dog as it approached. He wasn't aggravated towards it, he was just tired after such a long day. He didn't have the energy to be aggravated. Besides, it's not like he could be mean towards a dog. They were his favorite.

"Hey." He turned his eyes back towards the water. At night especially, he slipped into a calmer self. When there was no one to impress, he saw it as a waste of energy to be so flambouyant and over-the-top. A nice, relaxing encounter with a male, even if he was younger, would be a nice change of pace.

"Hi, I hope I am not disturbing you." Zuberi said quickly, he was always trying to be polite, specially with creatures that were not wild dogs, having only met the one that was so mean, he was really uneasy about what to make of the exchange.

"My name is Strongear, or uh Zuberi,... you can pick really I will answer to both." he smiled hoping that the other creature was interested in having some company tonight, as Zuberi really didn't want to be alone.

Strongear.... Mauja knew of the pack he was from well, but he never liked the names. They seemed too strange for his liking, so he always made a point to never use them. "Zuberi, eh?" He turned his head back towards the young dog, a smile on his face. "I thought this place looked familiar, and you being here only confirms it." It was true, that Mauja had followed a female dog back her so many moons ago. It was a romance; rather, it was someone who understood him when his life seemed so down.

"Do you like the moon as much as I do? Or could you just not sleep?" He shook his head, stretching out his shoulder blades.

Zuberi listened to the creature talk, he was still unsure of what he was, he cursed himself for not meeting other creatures besides wild dogs more often. When the other creature began to talk he wasn't sure how to bridge into the the question of what he was.... he didn't even know his name.

"Uh I suppose you could say it is both, I can't sleep at night most of the time, I am a nocturnal dog, my pack comes alive at night, and sleep during the day. I also like the moon though, its a beautiful ball of light." He lowered himself in the grass next to the creature, he could tell he was of no harm, Zuberi might as well get comfortable.

"I feel ya." Mauja smiled, rolling his head to the side. "I just get so overwhelmed by....things.....that I quite enjoy sitting at night by myself like this." His orange eyes flicked over to Zuberi, lacking any expression at all. "Not to say that having a male tonight is a bad thing." Grinning, he stretched out his front legs, taking in air with a yawn.

"Females just want you to do all these things." He shook his head, thinking about the crazy girls he'd spent time with recently. "It really drains me. And I'm not that old, either." His face moved downward in a depressed look. Mauja was, in actuality, the equivalent of someone in their late teens. His energy, though, was that of a shrunken old man. "Such is the life of a romancer." He shrugged and smiled, rolling his eyes to the side.

"I'm Mauja, by the way." He lightly tilted his head to the side, eyeing Zuberi up and down. Muscular boys were always such a......turn on.

Zuberi listened to the other creater speak still mildly unsure as to what it was, he was more similar to the lion that he met as a pup then he was to any wild dog that he had ever seen before.

While Mauja talked about the art of romancing women, Zuberi listened, it was an art that he was still learning, perhaps he wold be able to teach him a thing or two, to help the young wild dog find more 'love' as he liked to think of it.

Deciding to take one thing at a time, Zuberi decided to first find out what this creature was, then perhaps get a lesson in its art. "I am sorry, and I do hope that you don't find me rude, but what are you?" he was sure now that Mauja would think he was stupid, this old and not knowing what the creature before him was, but how else was he suppose to find out.

Pausing for a moment, Mauja blinked. He had to admit, out of all the crazy things he'd been asked before, no one ever asked him what he was, or seemed to care. "I'm a.....cheetah." He tilted his head a little, almost unsure if that's what he wanted to know. "Have you never seen one before, kid?" He let out a laugh, swiveling his tail back and forth in the dirt. "Kinda funny to see what all lives on the savannah, huh?" He flicked his eyes over to Zuberi, a cool smile on his maw. Mauja had been exposed early to all the different species and things; he lived with his grandfather, and they traveled extensively, never stopping for too long.

Zuberi blushed slightly at his naivity, "No I live in a pack of all wild dogs, and well have never really ran into someone who wasn't a wild dog, except a lion who was very mean." he told Mauja. "I guess you could say I have lived a very sheltered life." he smiled slyly, he didn't mind being seen as inexpereinced in fact some times it helped his case.

"Oh, I see." He held back a laugh, trying to keep in mind that others were still innocent and sheltered. His life was a whirlwind, at best, being taken in by an old 'cougar' of sorts when he was young.

"I have to say, I've never approved of things like this." His eyes lifted to the sky, swerving around as he referred to the concept of a pack or pride. "I guess I'm just too much of a free spirit to let something like this hold me down."

Zuberi smiled, he had met others with the same opinion of packs as Mauja did, "I could see why you might feel that way. But well I am am a free spirt and love, the pack. It is very different then most I think." Zuberi looked around him, the sky was getting ligether, but he was wondeirng if perhaps he should start heading home, back to a mate that he left.

"Mauja do you have a mate?" he asked. He was of course wondering if one could have a mate and .... friends.

PostPosted: Tue Nov 10, 2009 7:43 pm

"Well, to every man his own." Mauja rose, shaking the dirt from his fur. He had always had something against this pack, in particular, ever since he was young. It was just something that had been burned into him, he supposed.

"A mate?" His eyes rolled up; he really had to think about it. "There's someone I care about, but the relationship is.....odd." It wasn't like most mates were; it was master and slave, pretty much. "But I guess you could consider us mates." He hadn't actually seen her since he left after dropping his newest cubs off.

Zuberi smiled, loving hearing the all relationships weren't traditional, altough the pack had begin to show him that perhaps it was different not always one female with one male, " I am glad to hear that" Zuberi wasn't sure if it was the right thing to say but, well Zuberi often didn't find the right words.

Glancing up at the sky Zuberi noticed the sky changing to an even lighter shade, "I am really sorry Mauja but I must go, I will be expected home soon and I dont want to make anyone worry." Zuberi didn't always go home for the day time sleep, but he had been gone for a couple of days and was starting to miss the smell of home.
