 Semria was traveling just outside of the boarders. It was her first night away from her cubs since she had had them. But she needed to take her turn patrolling the pack boarders. She worked her way meticulously through the trees and around various swamps. So far the night was quite, nothing was causing a disturbance.
Semira took a seat enjoy the quite, she loved her babies a lot but when she was with them, there was always noise, a mew from one, prring from another, small playful growls from two and the fifth would be snoring lightly... even in their sleep they weren't silent. As Semira sat looking into the night, she spotted something moving not to far in the distance. She stood immediately, her back hunched. She had been protective of the pride before her children had been born but now that this was a home for her children as well she felt even more protective.. she got ready to take down what ever threat came her way.

Mauja had been traveling farther north than he usually did. Normally, he couldn't take the cooler and windier climate, but it was pretty nice to see some new scenery. Sure, the savannah was pretty much all the same, but there were subtle differences between the northern and southern plains.
He knew this area, though. He'd wandered this way before, but it had been awhile since he had. Back then, he didn't have cubs at all, in fact. There was someone he'd met here....but he couldn't quite remember. All of the nights seemed the same to him, unless there were 'presents' to be brought home to his awaiting mate.

The threat came into her view she realized she recognized him. He was a cheetah she had met not to long ago in fact, but long enough ago that it was before she had had her cubs. She relaxed her stance and was readied herself to great him.
A smile went across her face, it was nice to see someone that she recognized and had no fear towards, and to make herself even more proud it was a friend that she had made outside of her pack. "Hello Mauja" she said smoothly when he made it with in ear shot.

It was hard to see anything in the darkness. Especially if that something had a black pelt. It took squinting for Mauja to spot the reflective red globes in the night. He smiled, trotting up to her quickly. He still wasn't quite sure who she was, so he listened carefully to her voice. A lesson that echoed through his mind from cubhood had always reminded him: "Never forget the sound of a woman's voice."
Maybe it was something his grandfather had told him. To tell the truth, Mauja didn't remember much from when he was small. Or rather, he chose not to remember it. It seemed to be too awkward for his suave personality.
"Ssssemira, my love!" His eyes widened as the name came to him. "How have you been, my beautiful black widow?" Mauja quite loved having female friends, even if it sounded like more the way he talked to them. But he needed friends, to talk to. Besides, he didn't click so well with males.

Semira smiled, surprised that the male cheetah remembered her name. He had struck as the type to love em and leave them never to worry about them again, much less remember their name.
"What is it that you are doing back in my neck of woods, Mauja. Didn't you have cubs with you last I saw you and you were traveling home?" she smiled at him, it was strange to see him again, she had never thought that she would, but at the same time it was nice to see a friend she had made, a friend that didn't live in her pride, it really showed how well she was doing now in trusting others, it was a big deal for her.

"Ah, well....just running some....errands..." Mauja's eyes flicked to the side, thinking of what he was actually doing this far out. He had found a girl that fancied him for a brief while, and once she told him she was having cubs, he had to go back and check on her, if only this once.
"Ah, yes! My little ones." He closed his eyes, a fatherly smile on his face. It was strange for him, but he was glad he had his little cubs. "It seems I'm growing a mini-pride all by my lonesome." He let out a laugh, wrapping his long tail around one of his back legs. His little pride was only just starting, which was what had made it almost a game for Mauja at this point, though he cared for every cub he sired.
"So how are you, my sweet? Not getting into too much trouble, are you?"

Semira smiled at Mauja, he was clearly still up to his same old antics, but he was happy and that is what mattered. When he asked of she had been into trouble she couldn't help but chuckle. As of course she had been into trouble, more trouble then Mauja probably expected her to be in.
"While its funny that you should as I suppose I have been in a little bit of trouble." she smirked thinking of her sleeping little ones back in her den, she had left them with Zimwi her new partner.
"I have little surprise for you, I have had cubs in you absence." She waited a minute, and then realized considering their last encounter she should probably clarify, "Don't worry dear they are not yours." she chuckled.

While Mauja adored cubs, he just couldn't bear the thought of impregnating someone else. Not after the last girl. She was young, and he felt kind of bad, but in the end, it worked out for the better.
"Oh did you now?" He couldn't help but smirk. "I knew you had it in you. Especially after the sweet time we spent together." He nuzzled her cheek, almost proud that she had come out of her shell for another. It was just something that happened, every time Mauja saw an old flame. He always felt like a fatherly figure. Well, a perverted fatherly figure.
"So you've found someone, my dear?" He titled his head to the side, letting his small mane dangle in front of his right eye.

Semira smiled at Mauja, it was nice to see the relief on his face, she had a feeling that Mauja probably had more children then he did last time the two had met.
"I suppose you could say that I met someone, however that someone is no longer in my life." Semira smiled, she couldn't be mad about it, she loved her cubs far to much for her to be mad about the Mysmyr situation.
"I have my wonderful cubs though, what more could I ask for?" she knew Mauja would understand this feeling, she had seen him talk about his cubs before.

"I meet a lot of creatures like that." He laughed, glad to see that she'd been getting out of her shell more. "No ill-will of course." Mauja could never hate those he'd been with; they had fun, mutually split, and went on their ways. What more could he want?
"Cubs are quite wonderful." Mauja, surprisingly, had been a good father to his cubs. He wasn't strict, but he tried to instill a sense of the real world into each of them. "I'm glad that you now know the joy I feel." His orange eyes flicked over to meet hers, a calm look on his face. "It's not a completely bad thing that they don't have their father with them. I trust that a gorgeous gal like you has found someone to replace him...?" In most cases, Mauja knew that there was 'another' male that quickly took up the father-figure role once he left. He'd seen it first hand on a couple occassions as he passed through a familiar area.

"Ah well there is no father figure yet but there is always time." she said in a light voice. She liked talking to Mauja, he brought out another side of her that she at times didn't even knew existed, it was refreshing she felt young and carefree, almost as if she was normal.
"I hate to say it my dear as I don't know if I will see you again, but I must be getting home." Semira had began to think about the little ones she had left back in her den sleeping, she knew that her sister would be close by to keep and ear out for them, but if they woke up and she wasn't there she would have a heck of a time getting them back to sleep.
"Duties call" she said her voice still chipper.

"I'm sure an amazing guy will pop up eventually. I time and a place for every perfect moment, I guess?" He smiled at the dark lioness. At least she was positive about her life, as she was rather cute. He always hated seeing females be so down if they didn't have a male around; in fact, that was usually the reason why he had so many cubs.
"Well, I'm sure fate will bring us together again. For some nice company, at least." His tail flicked, and he turned his head back, wondering about his own home. "The work of mothers does amaze me. Especially at my den." He laughed, referring to the many many cubs his girl was taking care of. "Another time, then, my sweet. I wish you luck in the hunt for a man." He winked and turned, starting back on his journey.
