Character Name: Rueben Kerli
Nickname(s): Rue, Beni, Ruby
Age: 15
Sex: Male
Position: Uke
Status: Former pampered, sheltered noble, now a runaway
Appearance: Small of height and frame, he has delicate, feminine features that often cause him to be mistaken for a young girl. His waist-length ringlets are dyed a nearly white platinum blonde at his parents’ insistence but in actuality are a shade of auburn much closer to burgundy. His slightly slanted amethyst eyes are framed by long, thick lashes and his heart shaped lips are a pale, pretty pink.
Personality: Rueben is rather shy and reserved, not one easily given over to expressing his opinion having learned long ago he was much more appreciated being seen rather than heard. Though he has a lovely singing voice he dislikes doing so before an audience, and he really has no idea how to act around other people having spent the majority of his life either at his mother’s side or locked up in his room with just books and the porcelain dolls that lined his walls as company. He always weighs his words quite carefully before speaking them, reluctant to raise someone’s ire unintentionally.
Likes: Sweets, music, shiny and sparkly trinkets and baubles, pretty clothes
Dislikes: Vegetables, Spicy foods, cigarette and cigar smoke, unflavored milk, porcelain dolls
History: The product of a successful but cold and distant father and a mentally unbalanced mother, being the younger child of the couple pretty much relegated him to the status of his mother’s personal plaything to keep her occupied. His older brother is his father’s pride and joy, always at his side, whereas Rueben has been relegated to playing the role of the daughter his mother always wanted but never got. While his big brother participated in sports and learned things like archery and swordplay Rueben was forced to do all the things expected of a girl of gentle birth; he was tutored at home, taught things like embroidery and painting in watercolors.
His only time outside the manor was his weekly stroll with his mother. Those constitutions came to an abrupt end, however, when one of the villagers commented on how pretty the Lady’s daughter was but inquired what had happened to her younger son. Rueben made the mistake of speaking up and announcing the he was the very same. The admission sent his mother into an unexpected rage. She struck the boy hard enough to draw blood and forbid him to speak to others without her permission or even to leave the grounds again. She locked him in his room from there on, only allowing him out every few days to roam the manor for exercise. However that too came to an end when his father spotted him developing an inappropriate relationship with a servant boy, and his father insisted he stayed locked in his room at all times until he could behave accordingly. This has caused quite the bit of confusion in the young noble; seeing as he was pretty much raised as a girl in the first place he could not understand why his father would take such issue with him being attracted to males.
Having reached his limit with being his mother’s plaything, his father’s embarrassment and completely ignored by his brother Rueben decided to run away, making his escape by climbing down the ivy covered lattice that led up to his window and running off into the night with what possessions he could carry.
Additional Information: Rueben hails from a village named Abarhys, rather large for a village but not quite large enough to be considered a city or even a town. There it is a long held rumor that his mother’s blood is mixed with Fae blood. Though diluted with time it occasionally rears up, as it has with her grandmother and now her youngest son, who bears the telltale violet eyes, burgundy hair and pointed ears of that particular bloodline. It has also come to be believed that that same blood has led to her mental instability.
Rueben also seems to possess a sort of psychic ability. He has a tendency to know things he shouldn’t know, which can be disconcerting to some. As such he tends to keep his “gifts” to himself as best he can. He also carries around a candy dispenser that holds brightly colored pills, but he doesn’t discuss them or what they are for, letting everyone assume they are just pieces of candy. He’s prone to the occasional blackout with no knowledge of what has transpired during them.

Character Name: Mason Abigail

Age: 20
Sex: Male
Position: Seme
Status: Cook/Waiter in a village eatery
Appearance: A tall, slender, but muscular young man Mason has the build of a runner. He has thick, dark brows and bright green eyes. His naturally jet black hair is closely cropped except for the thick bangs that tend to flop over his forehead and the long, thick tendril that hangs from the back which he usually keeps braided. He has a dimple in his left cheek that usually only appears when he smiles.
Personality: Not really one to take things seriously Rueben tends to make a joke of almost everything, even the most serious and somber of matters. But when he finally does get serious he takes it gravely so. He’s fiercely loyal to those he actually gets close to, which isn’t very many. Though he’s fairly friendly, charming, and outgoing he rather reserved when it comes to his true feelings and keeps them closely guarded.
Likes: carrot sticks, cigarettes, baking, animals
Dislikes: Bullies, rude people, snobs,
History: There really isn’t much to say about Mason. He never knew his parents, raised by his aunt and uncle for as long as he could remember. He’s worked in their eatery since he was old enough to take an order. He never really planned to spend his whole life in the village, but he also hasn’t been presented with any real reason to leave. Though his life isn’t all that exciting, it’s not so bad either. Though his aunt and uncle don’t particularly approve of some of his choices in life they don’t really hassle him about it either.
It wasn’t until he spotted a very lost looking Rueben that he even considered altering his life in any way. It was he who suggested the boy try the odd castle in the center of the village, but when the boy he had mistaken for a girl seemed hesitant to take the advice he volunteered to accompany him. There was really nothing to keep him the way he was and in all honesty he was somewhat looking for a reason to go himself. That seemed as good a reason as any.
Additional Information: Mason once had a little brother, but the boy fell ill and passed away shortly thereafter. He doesn’t talk about him to anyone and has a tendency to get hostile when someone brings up the subject of him or his parents.
