(AIM RP) Making room for one more...
This is my domain, all mine! But I share...

Valeri dialed Other's number and waited for her to pick up with a patient expression across his face. Hopefully she wasn't working today and could spare a few moments for him and his new addition. After all he had a gift to give her, and someone for her to meet. It'd also give her a chance to actually see his home. His eyes gazed toward the small rat-girl on the floor nearby as she just quietly poking around at some building blocks that he had bought for her on the way home from the facility of D-Corp. It was a quick toy and currently it was her only unpacked toy he had for her.

Miranda hummed softly as her chubby feet wiggled back and forth as she moved the blocks about between her splayed legs of the little overalls he had put on her that morning. It was an interesting trial trying to find something that fit that was still toddler-aged.

For once it was Other's day off, she hadn't volunteered to help out at the cafe and she didn't have any kind of rehearsal. So what was she doing? Sleeping. She hadn't gotten much of it lately, just enough to get by in the day. Other was curled up in her bed in her PJs, hugging a fuzzy teddy bear and out like a light. Well...she was. Suddenly her phone was going off and she was startled out of whatever fluffy dream she was having, gasping and looking around. Huhwhatwhohow--oh. Her phone. Right. Other yawned and leaned over for it, grabbing it as she fell back onto the mattress and opening it.

It'd said Val~! Eeeeeee! "Hiiiii~!" Other chirped, curling up with her teddy bear again. She just hoped she didn't sound like he'd woken her up.

One ringy-dingy, two ringy-dingy, three ringy-dingy, four rin -- Other's voice, he jolted a bit as his mind had begun to wander as he counted the rings it took for the young woman to answer the phone. Valeri's cheeks flushed a bit and he laughed lightly, "Hey! I hope I'm not disturbing anything," his eyes gazed over to check on what Miranda was doing and found her in the same spot that he left her in. She seemed content, for now, to continue playing with blocks.

"I was hoping you weren't busy because I could use some help moving some things," he admitted with a small smile that couldn't be seen over the phone, "I also have someone I want you to meet," Valeri said and then added, "I'll make it worth your while if you come help me~. I'll take ya out to dinner."

Other blushed a little and hid under the covers like she was hiding from him standing right there...except he's on the phone, silly girl, he can't see you. "No, I was just sleeping." She could do that later, it'd already been about three hours longer than she usually slept. Busy though? She usually was, but not today! Other grinned and shook her head instinctively, toying with the bear's ear. "I have today off...moving things?" What kind of things? If a man couldn't move them then how was she going to be any help? She had almost no upper body strength! She pursed her lips for a moment, considering it. But what did she have to consider? Of course Other could come over and help Val, she'd just..never been to a man's place before. It gave her nervous and excited butterflies in the pit of her stomach.

"Someone to m--o-oh, really?" She smiled and sat up, sitting her bear on her pillows and running her fingers through her hair. She'd have to shower and get dressed. "Okay~ Um...are you going to come get me or should I just go there?" Had he ever told her where he lived? Other couldn't remember right now! Geep!

"I'll come get you, just need finish a couple of things," he said after a few moments of thought, "sorry I woke you up, by the way." Valeri said with a small chuckle as he looked up to see Miranda hand moved. There was a small nervous thump in his chest before he looked down in front of himself and saw two large red-pink eyes staring up at him curiously.

"Papi gonna leave'th me here?" A small voice drifted up and was easily heard through the phone.

The purple haired man uttered a small gasp of surprise and leaned a hand down to pat her head, "No, of course not, go get some shoes on though. I'll help you tie them," Valeri said to the small girl that Other couldn't see and then returned to the phone conversation. "Sorry about that, we'll be there in about an hour or so, is that enough time?"

"That's fine, I need to get ready anyway." Other chirped, smiling even more as they continued to discuss the plan. It was exciting! She'd never been to a man's home and never thought she would, so this kind of thing was so new to her. She giggled when he apologized for waking her up, shaking her head again as she climbed out of bed. "It's fine! I'd rather be doing something more productive." Or even just go over there and not even do anything; that was perfectly okay too. She was surprised to hear another voice all of a sudden, blinking and tilting her head a little. Who was that? The person Val wanted her to meet? It sounded like a little girl!

Other sat down on the edge of her bed and listened to the moment of interaction, smiling fondly and waiting very patiently for Val to talk to her again. That was cute. "An hour's fine~ I'll see you then!" Now she had to take her shower, get dressed and eat something. She waited for Val to say goodbye as well before closing the phone and heading straight for the bathroom. Other could do this in an hour!

"Welp, helping me re-arrange my apartment sounds pretty productive huh?" he laughed a bit and gazed over at Miranda as he caught a flurry of her movement picking up small toddler-sized tennis shoes and putting them on her socked feet with a happy grin. "Go get your sunglasses and hat," he called out of her and the part about the sunglasses got a response of a scrunched and displeased looking face. Valeri sighed, "Just do it."

Again the purple haired man returned to the conversation, "Kay, see you in an hour, babe." He said as he hung up the phone and then went to help Miranda finish getting ready and then they were off.

They arrived at Other's place a little over an hour later, Miranda hiding a little bit behind the man's legs while he knocked on the door.

Re-arranging an apartment sounded like quite the task. Oh dear. She'd never done that before, her father and some of his friends had been the one to set up her home furniture for her. Other was in the middle of shampooing her hair when suddenly it hit her. He'd...he'd just called her babe? She blushed and stared up at the ceiling, blinking. Val had never called her babe before, and the last time she remembered being called babe someone was saying she was a babe...like...she was hot. That made her blush even more as she turned the water to cold for the rest of her shower, still blushing even as she was getting dressed and making toast for herself.

She was spreading strawberry jam over the toast when she heard the knocking, gasping and quickly putting the jar away and the knife in the sink. Eeee he was here! Other left her plate in the kitchen as she skipped to the door, the figure of Val visible through the glass decorating the door. She was smiling brightly as she opened the door, waving to Val. "Hi, Val~!" Huh? Who was that behind him? Other blinked and tried to peek at the little girl hiding behind Val's legs, waving a few fingers at her. "Hiiii~ Are you the cute little girl I heard on the phone?"

Val waited patiently, leaning against his cane while his adopted charge clutched at the back of his leg peering curiously at the door through tinted glasses. When the door finally opened the rat-girl blinked at the seeming sudden opening where a young blushing woman stood and then looked up at her guardian and he seemed to smile to as if very pleased to see this person.

"Hey you~," Valeri greeted her with a small wave of his free hand and then looked down at Miranda as Other addressed her.

"Haaai~. Yeh'th," Miranda said with a rather large grin of her own, she couldn't help it, if Papi seemed to like the lady then she must be a good lady and certainly not bad. She raised one of her own small hands and gave a small wave in return.

"This is Miranda," Val introduced the girl and cleared his throat a bit, "my, ahh, adopted daughter."

Other giggled down at Miranda when she greeted her, not because of her lisp but purely the fact that she sounds so adorable. And so tiny! And...and...she wanted to just pick her up and hug her tight! Was that a tail? Huh. She looked up at Val when he introduced the little girl, blinking and staring at him for a moment with surprise. Adopted daughter? Wow! She had no idea Val had a daughter! Other looked back down at Miranda and folded her hands behind her back, leaning down enough to see Miranda behind Val's leg. "It's very nice to meet you, Miranda! I'm Other!" Unfortunately she wasn't exactly sure what the right response was to this kind of introduction because Other had never dated someone with a child adopted or otherwise, but it'd be rude for her to just say nothing. But she was happy to be meeting this little girl! But they couldn't just stand out here! That was rude! And fairly awkward.

"Oh! Umm, want to come in? I was just making myself a little breakfast." She smiled as she stepped aside to let the pair in, waiting until both her guests were inside before she closed the door and led them to the kitchen where her toast was waiting on the counter. "Have you two eaten yet?" She'd only made two pieces of toast but she could easily make something for them as well! Oh..but Val probably wanted to get back to his apartment soon so they could start rearranging furniture like he needed. Was she taking too long? Oh dear..

Miranda greeted the woman with a grin, "Uh'th'er~," she repeated back at the woman with wide shaded eyes. The small girl pretty happy to meet Papi's new friend and why shouldn't she be? The lady was nice and her home was really pretty and she said that it was nice to meet her! These were all bonuses in the small Rat-girl's eyes as far as she was concerned. Miranda moved to be a bit more visible and so she could stare at Other a bit better! The woman had such pretty curly hair she had resolved that the first moment she got she was gonna brush her tiny hands over those curly locks on the woman's head. Yes, yes she would~.

The purple haired man laughed a bit, "Y..Yeah a bit of a recent occurrence that she was slipped into my life," Valeri said to Other and nodded when she invited them in and simply walked in his hand still clasped onto Miranda's as they walked together, Valeri with his customary limp. "We have, we have a bit of a medication ritual that we started to do to help her get accustomed to everything," he said with a bit of a smile, "but if Miranda wants a bit of toast it shouldn't hurt much."

"Mm-mm!" Miranda shook her head, "don'th wan'th! Papi made big, big breakfast!"

Oooh the way she said her name was so cute! She just wanted to pick her up and hug Miranda right now! But she had to eat something first, get her strength up! ...Vaaaaaal, she really has no upper body strength! Was he absolutely sure he wanted her to help him move things around his apartment? But he did say he had a present for her, and she was super curious to see what a man's apartment looked like! The idea still made her blush a little. Ah! Val was talking again! Stop letting your mind wander, Other! She blinked and looked back at him with a blushed, distracting herself from her own thoughts as she picked up a piece of jam-covered toast and bit into it. Yum~

"Oh, I see!" She covered her mouth with one hand as she spoke, a habit from being taught not to talk with her mouth full but sometimes she just had to! So as long as she spoke clearly and kept her mouth out of sight it was okay, right? Other certainly thought so. Miranda had to take medication too? But...but she was just a little girl! What did she need medication for? Surprise was written all over Other's face despite her effort to try and hide it, but Miranda was able to make her smile when she spoke. Cuuuuuuuuuuute! "Ooh, really? I've never had his cooking! Is it good?" Other was honestly curious! She glanced down at her plate where her second piece of toast was waiting to be eating, looking at the clock on the stove after and humming quietly. Val probably wanted to rest his leg...w-well wait, did he need to? She hadn't heard a car pull up in her driveway, in fact she'd never seen him drive before, it'd never come up before! But now she was considering just putting her toast on a paper plate and giving the okay to go. What to dooooooooo!

"U-um..." Other blushed, embarrassed by her own inner conflict. "If you want I can eat and walk?" There! Now Val could decide for her! Ha! Yeah...take that...ahhhh but what if he thought she was rushing?! Gah!

Even he had trouble lifting up his daughter though none of this was verbalized between them since neither of them vocalized their thoughts as far as their respective strengths were concerned. He chuckled a bit as she seemed to accept his explanation and even if she had demanded more of him he couldn't even think of where to begin, it was exactly as he had told her. Not even he was expecting this to happen a few days ago until that weird message appeared on his answering machine. He settled into a chair at the kitchen table his daughter let go of his hand and had begun to wander still not ready to settle down, her tail trailed along behind her as she curiously began to poke about the kitchen.

When queried about her guardian's cooking she gazed up toward Other and nodded her head, "Mmn! It is'th good'th ye'th~!" Miranda offered cheerfully as she stopped in front of Other's fridge for a long moment before she turned and claimed a chair and then gently pulled it across the floor to the fridge. Once the chair was where she wanted it Miranda clambered on it to be able to reach the whiteboard she spied and without any sort of askance she took the green marker and began to draw on the whiteboard.

The purple haired man smirked as his daughter vouched for his cooking ability, "I..It isn't all that great just simple things."

Valeri glanced at his daughter as she rearranged the environment to her likings, "Only draw on the board, 'Randa. Nothing on the fridge, draw on the whiteboard only," this got him a soft 'mmm!' of agreement from the small girl as she concentrated her doodling on the board. The purple haired man turned his attention to Other, "Sorry, seems she claimed your whiteboard. We can stay here a few minutes longer, it'll give you a chance to finish your breakfast," Val offered with a small smile, "we aren't in a big hurry, the stuff'll still be there when we get there." He didn't seem to feel rushed.

"I want to try it sometime." Other said in regards to Val's cooking, especially because she had Miranda's approval! And kids tended to be very honest. If she didn't like her own father's cooking she'd tell him, right? She winced a little bit at the sound of a chair being scoot across her floor, eating another bite of toast and curiously watching what Miranda was doing. Did she want something in the fridge? Well if she wanted--oh! Her whiteboard. Other smiled and let Miranda have at it, glancing at Val as he gave her a warning.

"And be gentle, please." With the marker, at least. She didn't like it if the point began to fray or be shoved into the marker. It was another one of her little quirks, she supposed. When Val apologized she giggled and shook her head, finishing the last bit of her first piece of toast and picking off the other, licking a bit of jam off her fingers before taking a bite out of her toast. "It's okay! I finished all my chores today." Other was proud of herself for that one. "O-oh I guess that's true." She giggled sheepishly for having thought she should hurry, munching on her toast as she slyly stepped closer to Val...annnd closer...annnd a little closer until she was standing beside him, blushing but looking overall content. She just liked being near him.

Another 'mmm!' was given in response to Other's words as she concentrated on the drawing for a long moment. Miranda's tail draped off of the chair from where she stood, she had begun to hum a tuneless melody to herself as she drew, she was a good girl and did exactly what the adults had told her to do, she was careful not to put too much pressure on the marker as she drew, not even a squeak came from the marker and board as she was so careful to do what she was told. She couldn't find it in herself to upset her Papi or the nice Other-lady.

"Well maybe I'll cook us a dinner tonight," Val offered with a bit of a blush as he watched Other as she slowly made her way toward him. He had leaned his cane against the table and thus his hands were, for the moment, upon his lap as they rested there. "Finished all your chores, huh? That deserves a reward," he said cheerfully to Other as she stood now next to him, his eyes gazed up at her and then he reached up his hands went to grab for her waist so he could pull her onto his lap. His leg should be able to handle the pressure of weight upon it for a good long while yet. Really? This was like a rehabilitation exercise, having his girlfriend on his lap to build his leg strength. GENIUS! Miranda had glanced back at the two adults and she wouldn't allow either of them to see her masterpiece before she was done with it.

The small rat-girl couldn't help but notice that Papi seemed to like the Other-lady a lot! That was good Miranda liked her, too. Maybe that means she could see the lady often!

Cook dinner for them? Really? Oh she liked that idea! He'd offered to buy her dinner and everything but she much preferred something he'd made with his own two hands, not only because he made it but because...well...she wasn't used to people buying her dinner aside from her family. It was odd to her still. But Other would definitely feel much more comfortable with a homemade meal! She blinked and stared down curiously at him when he said she deserved a reward for finishing her chores. A reward? What kind of reward? Like...a present? B-but he didn't need to do that!

"Geep!" Other gasped softly as she was suddenly pulled onto Val's lap, her blush darkening and her arms instintively moving around his neck so she could make herself comfortable. Yay! She liked this reward! She held the toast up as if offering him a bite one more time before she just finished it, smiling softly. To be honest it made her feel a little odd that she was eating while the two of them waited on it, it wasn't something that'd happened before.

"Any special requests for dinner?" Valeri asked curiously as he stared at the offered toast, after a few moments of consideration he took up the offer and chewed on it leaving the last bite for her to chew on as he waited for her answer to his question of whether or not she wanted something special. He always catered to whatever Miranda wanted because other than a handful of things he never kept at home because he didn't like them, he usually ate anything that was made. He gazed over at Miranda to make sure she was still obeying orders and not doing anything she shouldn't and found her still in her spot and drawing.

Valeri wrapped his arms about Other's waist as he watched his daughter, "Still trying to get to know her, she seems pretty bubbly but easy going," the man said to the woman on his lap.

Miranda let out a pleased keening sound when she finished her masterpiece. She clambered down from her seat, pushed it over a bit to give optimal view and waddled over to the pair as she tapped on Other's shin with a tiny hand and wide eyes, "Looki'th! I made'th yous'th a pretty!" she announced rather proudly.

The purple haired man gazed at where his daughter had been prior and smiled a bit at the green marker drawn picture, "That is very good 'Randa~," Valeri praised his daughter.

Hmm...that was a good question. "Umm...can I get back to you on that?" She asked as he nibbled on the toast she was offering him, popping what was left of it in her mouth and chewing, looking thoughtful. What did she want for dinner? It really wasn't uncommon for her to plan out all of her meals before even finishing breakfast so that she could make sure she had everything she needed to make each meal. But now she had not only Val but Miranda to consider as well! She didn't want to request something that one or both of them didn't like! ...Oooh now she'd just put pressure on herself. Crap.

Other squeaked softly as Val's arms moved around her waist, smiling shyly and nuzzling her face into his cheek while he spoke to her about Miranda. "Well from what I've heard and seen so far you're doing a good job, she's really cute!" She praised him, kissing his cheek with a happy keen. It was good to see that he was a good dad! Her own probably could've learned a thing or two about parenting from him. When Miranda made a noise and started shuffling about behind her Other blinked and lifted her head away from Val to see what she was up to now. Oh! She'd finished! Wonderful~! She smiled and watched Miranda waddle over to them, turning her gaze to the picture she drew on her whiteboard. Awww! That was adorable! Other gasped with delight.

"I love it~!" She really did! It was adorable! Other was going to try her very hardest to keep that there as long as possible now.

"Mmm, sure," Valeri responded at her question and seemed content a moment before he added, "just know that neither of us are really picky so it really is whatever you want, chances are I got the stuff for it, I keep my supplies well stocked," he explained with a small smile and let her nuzzle her face into his cheek. It was a good feeling all of her affections were innocent and that made it feel more relaxed rather than the tension small tension that sometimes built around two people that were not so innocent. There was always that odd expectation to start just throwing off clothes.

Not that he'd go for it with his daughter right there in the room but it was it was a true enough thought. "Glad you like her, I was hoping you would," he murmured lightly with a small smile. Valeri wasn't sure what he would have done if both of them disliked each other. Valeri reached up and lightly kissed her cheek in modest affection and then watched as Other and Miranda reacted to each other.

"Yep you did an awesome job, baby." Valeri praised again with a smile. "You girls ready to go now?" Miranda nodded as she stared up at them.

"Ye'th ahhhhnnnnd'th...She gonna be my Mami?" The rat-girl asked innocently as she pointed at the woman on her Papi's lap.

Valeri blushed a deep red and was at a loss for words.

Oh! Goodie! That made her decision a lot easier, but she still didn't know what she wanted yet. She'd probably have an idea in the middle of moving things, and even if Val didn't have the things needed to make whatever she chose she had no problem running to the store on a quick errand. She giggled when he said he was glad she liked Miranda, smiling a big, proud smile. Of course she liked Miranda! Other liked everyone genuinely and equally. His kiss to her cheek made her blush, still not used to being shown affection like this. She'd get used to it! ...Eventually.

"Umm, I am!" Other chirped when asked if she was ready, looking to Miranda to see her own answer. They'd only been waiting on her so they were ready to go, right? Right! So all she needed was her purse and they were ready to g--whoa what? Other, who had been in the process of getting up off Val's lap so she could collect her keys and small purse, clung tighter to him when Miranda asked what was quite possibly the most awkward question she could ever ask.

Well, at least she didn't ask where babies came from.

"M-Mami?" She squeaked, blushing just as deeply (If not more than) as Val. Mami?! B-but...wha...th-that was...oh my...!

Miranda looked between the two with wide eyes had she said something bad? No, they didn't exactly seem upset with her and neither of them was yelling at her they just seemed really, really surprised at her question for reasons she can't understand. She stared at them quietly and tilted her head and waited expectantly for a clear answer.

It took a moment or two before Valeri cleared his throat and came up with an answer, "M..Maybe one day, sweetheart. F..For now Other and Papi are figuring out how much they like each other before they ... can decide where to go next, that's all." The purple haired man explained with the hope that no further awkward questions came forward, the one he most dreaded was 'why' but Miranda tilted her had at them as if processing the information and then nodded.

"Kay'th! Le'th go!" Miranda said cheerfully as she stood back and waved her hands excitedly for them to get up.

Valeri blushed lightly as he watched his daughter and then glanced at Other. He hoped the answer didn't unintentionally hurt her feelings by explaining it the way he did, but really it was a little too soon for Other to be a 'mother figure' but then again was it really? The man kept the thought to himself and smiled faintly at the woman on her lap, "Let's get going, huh?" his voice resumed some of it's former confidence. It would be better to talk when they were alone, Miranda had to nap sometime after all.

Other was still blushing and trying to think of her own answer when Val cleared his throat and decided to give one himself, giving a mental sigh of relief now that she didn't have to say anything. Thank god for Val! His answer didn't seem to calm her nerves any though, especially with the way he started it. Her blush had actually begun to fade but it returned full force, her heart racing. M-maybe one day? No one'd ever said that before! It'd be silly to get her hopes up but...but wow she liked the sound of that for some reason. Maybe it was just because she was so unused to all these thoughts and feelings. She'd always been told she was sensitive, after all.

She'd been lost in her own panicked thoughts when Miranda cheered for them to go and so she jumped just a little, staring at Miranda and then Val like a doe in headlights. "Y-yeah." How was he always able to sound so confident? Lucky! She wished she could regain her composure as quickly as Val could. She let him go and finally climbed off his lap, walking across the kitchen to wash her hands in the sink and put her plate and knife from before in it to clean after she got home. Luckily her purse was actually waiting ready nearby, picking it up and smiling shyly at the pair.

"After you~" She said softly, waiting for the pair to walk ahead of her before she followed them out the door, locking it behind her and then linking arms with Val, holding his hand as she did so. "Lead the way!" The nervous excitement to see his apartment was bad. Go awaaaay butterflies!

Valeri noted her panicked look but at least she didn't look hurt. Before she left his lap he gave her another kiss on the cheek before he moved to stand back up with a bit of a grunt and he then took his cane and began to help Miranda to help her get ready to go again as well. It was a rather quick process that brought the trio to the door rather quickly. Once outside she took her Papi's free hand and then reached up for Other's hand as well keeping herself between them simply because it felt right to do it like this. She wanted to walk between them because it felt good to do so. The purple haired man looked down at his daughter and smiled and then they were on their way.

A mixture of walking and bus riding later they were soon at the building for the apartment Valeri limped up to the door after releasing Miranda's hand and swept his hand through the door with a quiet, "Ladies first~," with a small smile. The appearance of Other and Miranda holding hands like mother and daughter seemed to do funny things to the beating heart of his chest but he said nothing of it as he watched them. Once through the door he would lead them upstairs to the apartment in question.

Other's heart skipped a beat when he kissed her cheek again, her tiny smile getting bigger. She really liked his kisses. She blinked and looked down at Miranda as the little girl squeezed between them and separated them, holding each of their hands...haha! Now that was a familiar action! Other giggled to herself, covering her mouth with her free hand as she did; that was what she often had to do for her parents!

Her nerves continued to build up during the short trip from her house to Val's apartment, looking around to memorize the route as they went. Huh...she'd been this way before! She smiled again as the thought comforted her, but the moment she saw the building they were going into she went into nervous panic mode. Oh god, oh god, oh god. This was it. Just inside this building and then however many floors up. Ohgodohgodohgod. The hand that was being held by Miranda's gave a little nervous squeeze, staring up at the building until Val spoke. Ah! Oh...i-inside...right. She blushed and nodded, walking into the building hand-in-hand with Miranda. Phew! This wasn't so bad! Haha! Other, you're just being silly. It's just an apartment!

A man's apartment...gah! Go away stupid butterflies you're not helpiiiing!

Once the two of them were inside he took keys out of his pants pocket and began to lead them up a set of stairs, just one, which was better access for a man with a bad leg than an apartment higher up than a single story. He quietly hummed a small tune as he jingled the keys and then stopped in front of a door with a giant golden '42' hung on the front of it. Valeri unlocked the door and opened it and then stood to the side waiting for the other two.

Going was slow for a small girl with small legs, she waddled her way up the stairs while she firmly kept a hold of Other's hand with a small, "Jus'th in case you'th fall," Miranda said very seriously as if Other would possibly fall before the small rat-girl would. When they reached the top and then the door was opened she beamed a smile up at her guardian as she passed him and into the apartment. Miranda gently pulled Other along with a small happy sound.

The inside of the apartment was very neat, for the most part, there were things a bit haphazardly laid about the walls and floors. Most of it was children's things and a frame of a child-sized bed, obviously for Miranda. Valeri would follow in shortly after the two entered the apartment, "S..Sorry the place is a bit of a mess..."

Aww, Miranda was so sweet protecting Other if she fell! Which probably was totally reasonable given how nervous she was, but there's no way tiny little Miranda would be able to catch Other. Lucky for Miranda though that Other is a very patient woman and didn't think even a single complaint as she made her way up the stairs with the girl, giggling softly. "That's very thoughtful of you, thank you, Miranda." Naturally Other would be sure to catch Miranda if she fell. She looked up from little Miranda to Val standing by his door when they finally got to the top of the flight of stairs, blushing darkly again and looking anywhere but him. Ohgodohgodohgodthiswasitshewasgoingtobeinaman'sapartment! At least she had Miranda here to keep her company, the girl was quickly becoming her rock in this situation.

Other followed Miranda all the way into the apartment, feeling much too shy and panicked to look around just yet. She...she was in Val's apartment! She did it! She was here! And...and this wasn't so bad it was just his home! Haha! Why had she been so worried? Geeze, Other. When Val apologized for the state of the apartment she blinked and finally looked around, tilting her head a little and pursing her lips. It wasn't so bad. It could be worse? She smiled and turned to Val, still holding Miranda's hand.

"It's not that bad! It's just a bed frame and some toys. This is why I'm here, right?" To lift things. Heavy things. This was a horrible idea, Val.

"Welcome'th," She replied simply as they entered the apartment together. The small ratgirl had meandered forth into the apartment, moving past Valeri and away from Other. She was simply walking into the place she clearly owned already. The small girl was already digging about for her toys with a bit of a hum. She wanted to show the pretty lady her dollies. Maybe later the Other-Lady would play dollies with her, that'd be nice.

Despite wanting to move things around Valeri didn't see a need to stop his daughter from her digging around the small piles of toys and things that were momentarily kept in the hallway. He leaned on his cane as he looked over at Other, closing the door after she had come in all the way, "I..guess so, just you know, first time you're here and the place is in a bit of chaos," he chuckled a bit as he moved forward while he nodded his head and asked the question that should have been asked in the first place, "are you okay with lifting things?"

"Thank you." Other smiled at Miranda and let her go play with her toys, picking at the hem of her shirt and watching the little rat girl quietly. Now what? She was here to help but she didn't know where to begin! She blinked and stared at him as Val spoke again, blushing again and shaking her head. "O-oh no! It's fine, really! I...it's not like it's always like this, right? It's just for now..." Honestly she was expecting worse than this! So it was just Miranda's things...and this was a very large apartment!

Other giggled nervously when Val asked the magic question. Was she okay with lifting things? She'd never had to before but she was sure if she had to she could, right? Who couldn't lift one end of furniture? Weaklings! She suddenly looked very determined, it was absolutely adorable, nodding to him. "I-I'm sure! It's...it's just furniture! And there aren't any stairs so...yeah! I'll be fine!"

...Sure, Other. This was about as convincing as a mouse chasing a cat.

"Welcom'th," Miranda said cheerfully as she got out her dollies, plopped down and began to play with them for the moment right where she sat, much to the relief of her guardian who was foreseeing the active child whizzing about underfoot where she could possibly get hurt. Other's voice brought him back from his thought and he nodded a bit, "Just for now," he said back to her as he limped forward to one of the bigger items in the way, which was a large desk, "I figure," Valeri said despite the non-convincing display of certainty of Other, "I'll lift an end and you can put rags under the legs and then I put the end down and eventually we can just scoot everything around without having to lift it very often and risk hurting either of us," the purple haired man explained uncertainly.

"Thank God for wood floors, huh?" He leaned a free hand on the surface of his desk and waited for her to reply. Thankfully the mattress and bed set for Miranda was small enough for them to hopefully carry and put together with no issue.

Other watched Miranda play with her toys for a moment until she heard Val walking, her attention immediately focusing on the man and following him to the first thing they'd be moving. She swallowed and looked a little uncertain now. That...that was a very big desk...there was no possible way Other could lift that! No matter how hard she tried! Val had way too much faith in his tiny girlfriend. She blinked and tore her gaze from the desk to Val again as he explained how they were going to do this after all. O-oh! That...that sounds like a really good idea! She felt genuinely confident now! "O-okay!" She smiled, nodding in agreement and looking down at the floor as it was mentioned.

"I'm sure it'll be fine~! It's so Miranda won't have to sleep in the living room or something." Other rolled up her sleeves and balled her hands up into fists, raising her arms in a weak little flex and smiling confidently. "This'll be super easy!"

Awww, Other, you're so pretty.

"Soooo is the desk first then?"

He couldn't help but note, with some amusement, that she seemed so much more confident when he laid down the plan. He gave a small laugh at her flexing and nodded a bit, "Desk is first," he confirmed. He knew where he wanted it to go so that wasn't the issue it was the getting it there that seemed to stop him for the most part. Soon the plan was enacted. He lifted the desk after he had handed her the rags and after a few hectic moments where his leg threatened to go out on him the rags were in their proper places and he took the task of pushing leaving Other to pull.

Miranda during this whole fiasco had grown bored of the dollies and had soon waddled forth and began to help the Other-Lady with the pulling of the desk as soon as Papi said it was okay. Val didn't see too much harm in it now that the first part was pretty much done but she was soon shoo'd off when he had to lift the desk again, once it was in place, so Other could snag the rags from under the legs. After the desk was in place everything fell into place rather shortly. The bed frame was put into Miranda's bedroom after everything was cleared out or resituated. Other was given the task of handing Val the tools he asked for while Miranda handed off the small bits and pieces and then when the bed was done the mattress was put in place and the man showed the small girl how to make her bed. He knew he had to go in and give her reminders each morning until she took the task upon herself, but he was fine with that.

The room was decorated the toys all put in room along with a nice fanciful toybox. All of it was light compared to the desk. Soon Miranda flopped onto her bed, testing it out, she was drowsy.

"Tired?" Val asked as he wiped at his brow with his forearm.

"Ye'th," Miranda said drowsily, "Other-Lady? Can I call you Mami now'th?"

It wasn't as bad as Other thought it would be, it was a lot easier with the rags under the legs of everything so it could be pushed aside. See! It was a lot easier! And it was so adoable how Miranda had decided to help them out, even if she was about as helpful as Other was. Eh heh. The tools were a bit difficult to figure out since Other had never held a tool in her entire life that wasn't meant for cooking, cleaning, or repairing and cleaning her violin. Was...was this a wrench? Val took it so it must have been! A screwdriver? Um...oh, no, that was a tiny wrench. Um! Oh, that. Right.

When it was finally done Other sighed with relief, putting her sweater back on. It'd been taken off after awhile, but it wasn't like anyone got a show; she had on a tank underneath. Even when wearing something heavy and warm and completely covering she was more comfortable in layers! She giggled softly at Miranda's tired behavior, gasping softly and blushing darkly at her question.

"M-Mami?" Like...like her mommy? Oh boy. But...she'd only just met the girl! And well, actually? She kind of liked the thought of being called Mami. Other smiled shyly and tucked her hair behind her ear, still blushing as she glanced at Val and then back at Miranda. "Um...i-if it's...if it's okay with Val? I...I don't mind..."

Val had blushed himself and shifted his shoulders a bit, "I d-don't see why not," he replied quietly as he rubbed the back of his neck. The thought of her being the mother-figure to his father-figure caused a pleasant flutter in his stomach but it also caused a bit of nervousness within him like something more was expected of him that he wasn't sure he could give. He looked from his daughter to his girlfriend and decided that if it was expected he'd most certainly try.

Miranda let out a happy keening sound though it was sleepy sounding. The rat-girl had short bursts of energy at the most and she had just pushed herself to her limit. The bed creaked a little under her weight as she shifted and moved closer to her pillow and cuddled up to it, "Other-Lady i'th Mami then," she said with an air of command to it challenging either adult to go against it but Papi only smiled a little and nodded with that odd tint of color to his cheeks. Miranda giggled and found it funny the way these two acted. Despite her best effort Miranda was soon asleep.

Valeri chewed on his lip a bit and offered Other his hand, "Let's go rest before dinner, she can use the nap."

"Th-then...okay." Other's shy smile remained as she continued to blush, staring at Val through her hair. She didn't really think anything would change just because she was being called 'Mami' by Val's daughter. What would be expected just because she was being the mother-figure to his father-figure? Other certainly didn't expect of Val except to be...well...Val! She'd adore him either way.

She giggled at Miranda's announcement, holding her hair back as she hesitantly leaned down to place a soft kiss to Miranda's head. Was it okay for her to do that? Oooh she hoped it was! What if she made them uncomfortable? She should've thought this through a little better. "Sleep tight." She told the little ratgirl as she stood back up and stared away from Val, suddenly feeling incredibly bashful.

She started a little as Val's hand brushed hers, smiling up at him as she gladly held it. She was still blushing. "O-okay." She answered softly, waiting for Val to lead the way so she could follow him wherever he was taking her.

Val actually smiled when she did that and so did Miranda before she drifted off to sleep. Thus any idea that she had caused any discomfort was shattered right on the spot. The purple haired man squeezed Other's hand as he then lead her out of the bedroom, into the hallway, and finally into the living room which was kept rather tidy.

He lead her to the couch with his usual limping gait and once he was at his usual spot he plopped down and left a space for Other to join him while he set his cane aside for now against one of the side tables. Valeri uttered a small sigh, "Thanks again for helping me out," he said with a bit of a chuckle. "I know this probably isn't how you wanted to spend your day off," the purple haired man murmured apologetically.

Other squeezed Val's hand in return, following him to the couch and sitting beside him. She scoot over so she was close to him, putting her head on his shoulder and still holding Val's hand in both of hers. Her smiled brightened when he thanked her, about to tell him it was no problem when he suddenly assumed this wasn't how she wanted to spend her day. Wh-what? Other blinked and stared at him, surprise written clearly on her face.

"What do you mean?" Honestly! She didn't get it! She was with Val, she'd met his sweet little daughter, she'd gotten a chance to help him with something...how silly of Val to say something like that! Other leaned in to rest her forehead against Val's, looking him in the eye with a 'You can't be serious' kind of look before she pressed her lips against his in a shy little kiss. "I had fun today, and...and I..." She smiled and blushed. "I'm always happy when I'm with you." Oooh god now she must've sounded like a total sap!

The purple haired man enjoyed having her close to him and to have her head rest against his shoulder. It was comfortable much like it had been before. He blinked at her reaction to his words and even blushed a bit when Other had leaned up and rested her forehead against his. Valeri clearly hadn't been expecting that reaction from her at all, "It's just that..." he couldn't find the words and promptly forgot the point he was going to make anyways when she kissed him. He returned the kiss and let her pull away to say her next set of words.

Valeri smiled a bit, "Well I'm glad you had fun, and I'm always happy when I'm with you too," he replied sincerely. Still he doubted that moving things around the apartment was fun. Oh well.

He leaned and took another kiss before he leaned toward his coffee table, to a small compartment hidden beneath it, and took out a velvet box with his freehand and then with a casual air he gently deposited it upon her lap with a small chuckle.

"Just that what?" She cocked her head to the side and blinked, lifting the hand she was holding to kiss the back of it as he repeated what she'd said in his own way. Other was delighted by these words, smiling brightly up at Val. Really? He was? That was wonderful to hear! She let go of his hand as he kissed her to lightly hold his head, returning the kiss with a tiny giggle until he leaned away from her. What was he doing? She watched him, confused, as a box appeared and was set down on her lap.

"Wh-what's this?" Other blinked and stared down at the box, then up at Val, then down at the box again. Her heart fluttered wildly as she picked up the box and pursed her lips, looking up at Val one more time before opening the box to see what was inside. She was struck speechless instantly, giving a tiny shocked gasp as she just stared. It was a necklace. A gorgeous necklace! And...and it was...it was so beautiful! A-and it looked so expensive...he...Val got this...for her? Her cheeks turned pink as she slowly lifted her face to look at Val again. She wasn't upset, she wasn't scared, and at least she didn't look ready to faint, just incredibly shocked. Other was in awe. "Wh...what's this for?" It was so beautiful! She looked down at it again, speechless once more. Other lightly traced one of the hearts with her finger as if to confirm it was really there. Wow! It...holy cow!

Sure it was a little alarming to interrupt her while she was in the middle of lavishing her affections upon him but the gift was there and needed to be given. He didn't answer her initial question for she soon answered it herself by opening the box. Valeri was pleased by her reaction, "It's because you're you. I thought maybe you'd like to wear it at a performance or something," he replied simply with a small chuckle. "Do you like it?"

At first he was going to buy her a ring but even if it was just a simple ring with no real significance behind it he was sure Other would probably behave as if he had just suddenly engaged to her. While he could see himself marrying her, even this early in the relationship, it was still a little soon for anything like that.

"I just saw it and thought of you," he admitted with a small blush and shrugged a little, "i-if you don't like it that's okay..."

Other's eyes widened at Val's answer, biting down on her lower lip and nodding enthusiastically. Like it? She loved it! It was so beautiful! So thoughtful! She didn't know how she could ever repay him for something so gorgeous! Of course she'd wear it at performances and things, she'd wear it with pride! Oh, this? Just a present from her boyfriend! Eeeeeeeeee! It made her giddy just thinking about it. Her heart continued to flutter madly as she put the box down on her lap. She wanted to wear it now, but her sweater's neck was too thick to allow her to wear a necklace like this.

She was about to take her sweater when Val said it was okay if she didn't like it, staring at him with a look of confusion. "N-no! I...I love it, Val! I really do!" Other answered him excitedly, taking her sweater off soon after so she was left in the tank-style undershirt she had on underneath. There, this would be much more cooperative with a necklace. "I...can I wear it right now?" She'd need him to put it on her for her so she could hold her hair though.

He relaxed a bit when she nodded and seemed to be gradually more enthused about the present he got her. Valeri knew it was maybe a little (okay a lot) over the top but he couldn't help it. The purple haired man certainly couldn't pass it up for it seemed as if it would be perfect draped about Other's neck. The salesman had seen the dreamy look on Val's face and pounced and the next thing the young man knew he was limping out of the store with a velvet box and a delighted blush. Damn that salesman was good, like a shark.

Still he was glad that he had gotten it especially since Other apparently loved it and stated as much. He smiled and nodded softly as he watched her and blinked at her question and blinked even more when she stripped off her sweater. A more perverse part of him, admittedly, wished it was more than just the sweater. Mentally he swatted himself and fought down a blush and nodded, "O...Of course you can, Other. The necklace is yours to do with what you wish."

Was Val okay? He suddenly had a funny look on his face...but it was gone too quickly for Other to worry too much over it. Still, how odd! Other smiled and tossed her hair over one shoulder, tilting her head a bit in that direction to keep it down as she picked up the necklace. She handled it like it was made of glass! Mostly because she'd never held jewelry as expensive as this probably was, well not jewelry she got to keep. Other draped it over her neck, shivering just a little at the sudden touch of the cool necklace against her skin as she reached back to clasp the ends together. Once it was on she looked down at herself to see it on her, smiling widely and blushing. It was so gorgeous!

"No one's ever...gotten me something like this before." She told him, looking from the necklace to Val. She'd have to find him something now, she couldn't just not return the favor! But she had no idea what she would get him. Other scoot closer to him and held Val's hands in both of hers, leaning up to press a soft kiss to his lips. She didn't have an actual return gift yet, but a kiss would do for now, right? "Thank you, Val." She whispered against his lips, giving him another kiss after. Miranda was still sleeping so...this...this would be okay! And because Miranda was sleeping nearby she could trust Val not to take advantage of her? Yeah! It made perfect sense to the silly girl.

"Is...is it really okay that she calls me Mami?" Other was perfectly alright with it, it was adorable, but she just worried he had only said it to make his daughter happy. She just had to be sure.

He had quietly reached forward to help keep her hair out of the way though it was mostly just an excuse to touch her hair and to feel its texture. When she had it on Valeri took a moment to admire it upon her and nodded slightly in silent approval before he said out loud, "It looks beautiful on you. I'm glad I got it," he said with a sincere smile.

"Well you deserve it," he said simply and anything he would have said additionally was interrupted by her scooting closer, taking his hands, and the next thing he knew her lips were against his. Val gently returned the kiss with a bit of a flutter within his chest, kissing her was more than payback enough for him, "You're welcome," he murmured back against her lips and returned the kiss again. He lightly tilted his head a bit and gently deepened the kiss for a moment until she pulled away with her question.

"Yes it really it is," Valeri assured her with a small chuckle, "I...couldn't imagine a better mother-figure for her than you, Other. You're sweet and patient." Amongst other things he could name but right now he wasn't thinking all that clearly, especially with a very pretty lady close by. His stomach made a soft grumble and he suddenly blushed a bit, "Did you decide what you wanted to eat yet?"

His hands reaching out to hold her hair had made her heart flutter, blushing just a little when he'd done it. The blush deepened at his compliment, looking down at the necklace. She was definitely going to find every excuse possible to wear this now. "Y-you think so?" Other giggled as he told her she deserved it, not really sure what she'd done to deserve it but if he insisted she wouldn't complain. Why would she complain? It was the most beautiful thing anyone had ever given her! There was a pleasant flutter in her chest that made her giggle against her will, smiling through the second kiss.

The deepened kiss startled her a little, gasping softly and opening her eyes wide. It had been gentle, sure, b-but still! It...she liked that one too much. She blushed more but returned the kiss nonetheless, pursing her lips after and gently rubbing them together. Those deeper kisses...they were really nice. She liked all his kisses, but whenever he did that it made her stomach clench in an oddly pleasant way. How weird!

"R-really?" Other smiled widely at Val, rubbing the back of his hands with her thumbs and lifting them to kiss his knuckles just because she could. "Okay! I...I really like her. She's so cute!" She told him honestly, blinking and looking down at his stomach when it growled. It was quiet in the room, and she was so close, of course she heard it a little. Other looked up to see him blushing, giggling and tilting her head a little. What did she want? She hadn't thought about it.

"Um...just...spaghetti I suppose? Oh! With...meatballs!" Other gave his hands a gentle squeeze. "And if you have the stuff for it I can make garlic bread! I-if that's okay.." She ducked her head a little. "I'd just feel...awkward...if you cooked dinner and I didn't help?" Hey, at least she admitted it instead of sitting and making him feel guilty later.

"I do think so," he confirmed simply.

It was amusing to have her giggle against his lips and part of him wondered what had brought it on but he was too busy kissing her and noting the gasping sound to really feel like contemplating it any further than it needed to be. His hands grasped hers a bit more firmly while they kissed an affectionate squeeze. No they would not go any further than these kisses, his daughter was too close by and napping and who knew when she'd get up.

He wanted to, the desire was there, but he swallowed it down stubbornly.

When the kiss ended and they moved to their next bit of conversation, which concerned Miranda, he had nodded and had smiled as he watched her kiss his knuckles. It sent a delighted shiver down his spine, "I think she likes you, too," he said honestly. Valeri didn't think his daughter would draw fridge art for someone she disliked. Then again it wouldn't surprise him if she did; the small girl was strange in many respects.

"We can do that," he said in regards to dinner, "and sure you can make the garlic bread if you really wanted to." He moved to stand gently squeezing her hands back as he pulled her into a stand with him. He paid no mind to the ducking of her head other than to gently kiss her cheek and murmur, "Stop being silly," in a teasing fashion before he reached to take up his cane. He lead her to the kitchen and started to cook dinner and informed her where the fixings for garlic bread were. Soon as dinner was well underway Miranda was up and about and attempted to help in her own fashion with whatever she could.

"Really?" Other smiled at that, excited to hear that Miranda probably liked her. She was so sweet! Other had assumed that perhaps she did, but she didn't want to sound arrogant and admit that kind of thing, it was just that if Miranda hadn't liked her then she wasn’t sure if she would be so sweet to her. Who knows, maybe she would have? Still, it was nice to hear from someone else that did.

Oh! He was okay with her making garlic bread? Would Miranda like it? Was this how chefs felt sometimes when cooking food for a new crowd they didn't know? Wait, that was silly. And Val even called her silly! Other giggled and closed her eyes as he kissed her, returning the little show of affection with a blush. "Sorry.." She apologized, smiling up at him and waiting very patiently for him to be ready to move on to the kitchen. As they walked Other looked around very curiously now that she could really check out the apartment and not just whatever she was putting rags under. And there was no more mess! She could see the real apartment now! So this was a man's apartment...it wasn't so bad! Other had gotten all worked up over nothing! She paid close attention to where he said everything was, smiling warmly and nodding as she got to work. Garlic bread was easy enough to make, and he even had the right cheese for her to sprinkle over it! Yay! She let Miranda help her with that when she was up and about, figuring that part would be easiest for the little girl to do than getting too much garlic on the bread. Other was really looking forward to being her 'Mami' now, even if something like that sounded so odd to her still; it was going to take getting used to!
