One of my favorites has always been Eowyn from The Two Towers and The Return of the King. I loved the fact that she was a warrior and felt strongly enough in her convictions to follow her own path.

Death from Terry Pratchett's Discworld Rincewind from Terry Pratchett's Discworld Lyle by Catherine Webb Death and Rincewind are awesome, but I think my favorite character is Sam Vimes (from Discworld by Terry Pratchett). I haven't read a lot of Pratchett's works -- which is a shame, I might add -- but from what I've seen of Death, he has very much the potential of becoming a favourite character of mine! Does he appear in a majority of the Discworld stories?
Other than that, Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy hosts a great deal of very interesting characters, FitzChivalry Farseer and the Fool perhaps being the most noteworthy. I've also started taking quite a liking to Gandalf recently. He's far more awesomse in the books than in the films.

I love Gandalf! Not only is he wise but he also has a sense of humor, how often do you find that in a wizard/mentor.

Awen Dana I love Gandalf! Not only is he wise but he also has a sense of humor, how often do you find that in a wizard/mentor. Indeed, not often enough! And that's one fancy quote you've got in your signature. wink

Just Tsuki as far as i know Death in the Discworld series appears in every book that is set in the Discworld except Wee Free Men. Cool! I have to start seriously reading that series sometime soon, wouldn't you say?Awen Dana Thank you! It's always been one of my favorites lines. I can understand that. It is such a short, practical little sentence, and also so very... true!

Definitely! I also see it as a reminder to never take anything at face value, you could be wrong.

Just Tsuki is right, DEATH has a cameo at least in almost every Discworld book, there are also a number of books where he's one of the primary characters.
...Oh and I'm also quite fond of Matilda, from Roald Dahl's book by the same name.
