If you're a beginner I wouldn't recommend getting a Gibson right off the bat because they don't come cheap. The cheapest Gibson Les Paul I've seen was $800 I believe.

The cheapest gibson you can buy new right now is the Melody Maker. Like $400. Gibson makes some awsome guitars, just depends on your style of playing.

Oh, you can get an LP studio for around $800, and LP junior for around the same price (a little more), a melody maker for between $400-$500 new. But look on eBay, you can find anything for a low price. My uncle bought an 1980's Les Paul Standard for $150.

Praise to Him With Strings...
Gibson Les Paul -$1800 at least Never buy a guitar online..they are not all the same you have to find one that feels right in your hands, its all about the neck. Also a solid color will be cheaper than any natural wood or burst
...oh, by the way I'm Awesome!

I don't understand why you guys are bitching about online guitar buying. As long as you buy it from a legitimate site you'll be fine. I've bought three guitars online, and besides the setup up thing they work perfectly. By now you should know which guitar feels the best to you.
