A blue form stood out from the tans and browns of the savannah, often times making it hard to hunt, but the current activities of the young lion weren't affected in the least. After all... plants can't run away when they catch site of you. If anything, they just keep growing and nodding serenely in the wind.
Ryuuko smiled to himself as he poked around the edges of a large rock, the old, broken trunk of an ancient tree leaning against it. No, it was a very good thing plants didn't run away, or he'd make a poor healer. He was only marginally good at hunting, thus is lean figure, but his real talent lay in the healing he had learned. And part of that was collecting herbs and plants that were beneficial to healing. Which was why he was here, actually. Such an odd grouping of rock and stone in the flatness might mean something unusual in its shelter, some delicate plant that wouldn't survive out in the harsh sun and hardy grass.
When the blue male found nothing of significance but a few old mushrooms, he shook himself and climbed up onto the rock, settling in to enjoy the sun and the elevated view for a bit. He always felt just a little startled that such a simple change in elevation could give him such a far view of things, especially when the first part of his life, he'd seen so little beyond his mother's den in a bank of earth.

With her mother's permission, Alustha found herself some freedom to wander in the nearby area. It was a nice change, to be out from under her mother's shadow and allowed to explore and learn for herself. At least for the moment. Though she had to admit, it was abit daunting. She had distantly seen and heard the predators of these lands and the horrors they could stir up. Thankfully mother was always there to steer them to safety. And now? Her mother must have known this small area to be clear of danger to allow her to roam about. Yeah, that must be it.
Dark toes dusted across the plains as Alustha took in all the small detailed sights. Some odd shapes rocks over here, some darting bugs marching by over there. But what caught her eye most was a random surprise. In the distance, it looked like a piece of the sky fell to touch the earth. Almost like a rebellious cloud. Curious, Alustha drew nearer to the strange movements. From here, she couldn't quite tell what the thing was....and it seemed to be collecting...flowers?

Yawning hugely, the adolescent sat back on his haunches and let his eyes fall to half-mast. What a lovely day... clear sky with a few fluffy white clouds... the sun, warm on his blue fur... it made him positively sleepy.
For a long while, Ryuuko simply let himself enjoy the luxury of relaxation and no need to be anywhere or do anything important. He'd have to hunt later, of course, and he could be traveling to somewhere his skills were needed... That was one of the hard things about being a healer. You couldn't rightly call yourself one if you never really did any healing, could you? And you needed... other people, to do the healing on.
The other people part was the hard one. Ryuuko wasn't a hermit, by any means, but he was a tad shy and reclusive. Joining a pride seemed a huge step to him, and he wasn't at all sure it was one he wanted to make. But... what was he to do if he didn't? That was the real question.
His internal musings keep him inwardly focus, and embarrassingly, unaware of his surroundings.

Coming closer upon the boulder, Alustha found herself crouching the further she went. It wasn't long till she was but a step and leap away from the stone, and from here she could see what was seated on it. Another lion with fur of blue and some amazing.....decoration on his pelt. Blinking, the youth took in the odd sight while flicking her tail quietly. Hm, this fellow didn't seem a threat, just sitting there and staring at the sky. Was he asleep? She couldn't quite tell with his back turned to her like that.
Not sure what to do now, Alustha glanced around where she was crouched. There were no other lions, or animals for that matter. Nothing but the occasional birds and beetles. Perhaps she should just leave now and return to mother? The girl sighed, having hoped this would be more interesting, before freezing. There was a tickle in her nose, and too late Alustha realized she had breathed in some dust.
Try as she might to scrunch her nose, the girl couldn't hold back the sneezing sensation.
"Ah....Ah-choo!"

The sudden burst of sound from just behind his tail jerked the young lion to attention and sent a jolt of adrenaline through his system. With a yelp, he jumped up... and, flailing, fell flat on his face, sliding off the rock.
See, it would be just what he deserved to get eaten by a crocodile right now, or a hyena, or whatever monster had made the frightening sound. He clapped his paws over his head, tucking his tail up as he waited for the swift death that was sure to come. Poor Ryuuko... abandoned by his mother, unloved his whole life, learning a trade just before he lost his life in a tragic accident... he couldn't help feeling a little sorry for himself right at that moment, before he started to realize that nothing bad had happened to him.
The blue male sat up slowly, looking wide-eyed back over the rock and around him, wondering where the monster had went. He wasn't normally so skittish, but... he had been -very- deep in his thoughts, after all.
