User Image Digitalia had been wandering for days. The bruises, scraps, and welts on her body were just starting to heal and it didn't hurt so much to walk. She felt she may even be able to run again soon.

She was getting quite homesick but felt too ashamed to return home after being caught by those creatures. She was also sure she injured some of them quite badly...she started to feel badly for what she had done but then the memories of being dragged on the ground returned to her and a hatred towards the creatures showed and the thought of guilt was quenched.

She needed to get her mind off these things. She was starting to get hungry and it would be night soon enough and she needed to find a safe place to sleep as well. She noticed a tasty looking dogwood tree about a bound away from her. "That will do nicely," she thought. She went over to the tree and started munching on the sweet tasting leaves.

A twig snapped in the distance and some birds flew out of a tree nearby. Her ears perked up, and fear filled her faster than it would normally. She froze hoping it was something she could outrun in her state.

Yanagi strolled through the forest, not paying particular attention to where he was going or how much noise he made. Silarial had been in the mood for some alone time so, not wanting to crowd her, he had decided to wander for a bit. With Frill to keep him company and plenty of game to hunt, he was having a grand time.

He started humming a merry tune to himself but was interrupted when Frill gave a warning chitter. Nagi froze, his ingrained habit of trusting Frill's lead kicking in. He listened, but didn't hear anything. A glance at Frill showed that the small creature looked cautious but not frightened. Curious now, Nagi used all his skill as a hunter to creep in the direction Frill was looking.

Her eyes were keenly attentive in the direction of the noise. She watched as a small deer creature different than a kirin started walking in her direction. Her body relaxed and she let out a deep breath and a soft neigh came out.

The deer reminded her how very alone she felt.

All of a sudden the deer sprang off when the sound of a Norora chitter was heard nearby. This jump started Digitalia's heart racing all over again. But she was able to calm it when she realized what the sound had come from.

Knowing the sound of the familiar creature she wondered if there was another kirin nearby. The thought made her happy because she missed having company. She started heading toward the direction of the call, but she did not see anything around, just the normal green trees and foliage of the forest.

"It had come from this area," She thought to herself. She was disappointed by the false hope of seeing another like her.

She turned to the nearest tree and started slowly pulling leaves of and eating them.

Nagi was startled into immobility when a lovely mare wandered into view, seemingly unaware of him. She had large flowers and vines draped over her, but she would never blend into her surroundings the way he or Silarial did. He was not sure he had ever seen quite so much pink in one place before.

He was so busy admiring her that it took him a moment to realize how bruised and battered she was. His heart raced and his eyes narrowed to the thinnest of slits. These were not injuries one could get on accident, they had been inflicted on her. The thought of anyone so hurting such a lovely creature had him seeing red. He was about to demand to know who had hurt her so that he could return the favor when she did possibly the only thing that could have shocked him out of his anger. She started trying to eat some of his leaves! Sputtering, he scurried back a few steps. "Don't do that! I really wish people would stop trying to eat me..."

Digitalia, startled reared up on her hind legs in attack mode. Had the tree just moved and talked, her heart started pounding again. She tried to collect herself, and then noticed that the tree was actually a kirin. She gave a sigh of relief and came back down on her front legs. As she hit the ground her legs actually gave out under her and she fell.

Not wanting to look like a complete fool, she got up carefully and apologized, "Sorry, I had know idea you were a kirin. I have never seen a kirin that looked so much like a tree. My name is Digitalia, what is yours?"

Her heart was starting to slow down and she was starting to get warm inside and relieved by the mere presence of another kirin.

Nagi shied back when the mare took a defensive stance, mentally kicking himself. As beat up as she was, of course she would be skittish, so would anyone. When her legs gave out under her, he rushed forward, trying to help her up. "No, no, not your fault. I should be used to it by now. Gotta learn not to stand too still around other Kirin or something."

Once she was standing and did not seem in danger of another spill, he backed off a few steps to give her space, a little embarrassed. "A lovely name. I am Yanagi."

Nagi was glad to see Digitalia calming down. It was very telling that she calmed so easily in his presence, Kirin had not done this to her, which only left one likely option. If he ever met the hairless two-leggers who had hurt such a lovely mare, they would regret it.

"Are you... hungry?"

"I am starving. Haven't really eaten much in the past few days. I heard your familiar but I did not see you Yanagi. You look just like a willow tree when you are still."

Digitalia was happy that she had run into Yanagi and that he did not seem too upset that she had taken a bite from his locks. So stupid, she should have been paying closer attention. He actually seemed concerned about her, which was natural, specially in her state. She would probably have to explain her story, which made her a little uneasy because she still felt some shame in hurting so many, and knew other kirin might find it completely unacceptable what she did.

"Do you live around here?"

She was unsure exactly where she was and what the chances of running into more of those creatures were. She felt safe in the presence of Yanagi though.

He smiled. "So I am told." Nagi gestured with his muzzle at Frill. "His name is Frill. Please, call me Nagi."

Knowing how most kirin reacted to his diet, and not wanting to scare Digitalia off, he was a bit hesitant about offering to find her some food. "What would you like to eat?" He asked, feigning nonchalance. "I'm not from around here originally, but I can probably manage something." He hoped she didn't ask for some sort of plant he could not identify. Being with Silarial had familiarized him with some edible plants, but he was far from an expert.

She seemed nervous, almost skittish. He wondered if whatever had hurt her might follow her. He almost wished it would.

I'm sure you get it too often *she let out a little chortle*

Digitalia moved her head down to sniff Frill. "Hello"

"You know I could really use some meat, at this point I don't even care which kind. I haven't had much other than berries and leaves for the past week, and could really use something a bit more substantial. I haven't been really able to hunt, but maybe with help I could actually manage it."

Though meat wasn't really her favorite thing, she could almost taste it in her mouth and it sounded so good right now. She wasn't use to having cravings this strong for meat, but figured it was what her body needed.

She was starting to actually relax for the first time since the incident.

Frill sniffed back with a friendly little chirrup in greeting.

Nagi visibly relaxed, though he was slightly surprised. He had heard of Kirin who ate both plants and meat, but Digitalia was the first he had met.
"Then I can be of some assistance. I am a passable hunter." Figuring that fatigue and blood loss probably had the mare craving red meat, he decided game would be better than fish.

"Would you like to flush the game, while I lie in wait?" The role would be easier on her battered body, but he hoped it would keep it from seeming as if he were coddling her. Normally Frill would do this for him, but no reason for her to know that...

The idea of a good solid meal was making Digitalia feel better already.

"I would be happy to flush out the game, I miss hunting a bit. I'm not sure where the best hunting here is. Though I suppose we should move away from here as I sure our commotion has scared away most of the game."

Her stomach was now starting to growl and she was ready for some good food.

Nagi smiled, politely ignoring the sounds made by her stomach. "I'm not from this area, but I've been here for a little while now. I think I know just the spot." Not too far from where they were, but far enough that they should not have disturbed it, was a stream where animals often came to drink. There were plenty of bushes and trees for him to blend in amongst, but also a decent amount of relatively clear ground where he could catch prey without getting tangled in a bush.

"Would you care to follow me?"

"Gladly" Digitalia followed Nagi. She was able to relax and take in the pleasantness of her surroundings. As she breathed in taking in the air she realized there was not even a hint of the "human" smell. Instead she could smell the normal forest creatures scurrying about. "We must be close, she thought" She tried to tread quietly on her injured limbs and she did a reasonable job at it. She was getting closer to being healed.

Digitalia saw a small stream coming into view. This was it, she tried not to think about the food, but she focused on Nagi. She waited for him to cue her to when he was ready.

As the stream came into view, Nagi stepped off the path into the surrounding foliage. He knew this tended to have the effect of making him look like he was disappearing, becoming one with the plants around him.

"Ok." he whispered. "Send something my way, I'll take care of the rest." No matter how many times he did this, his heart was still racing, his thoughts racing as he prepared for the hunt.

Digitalia saw Nagi almost become invisible as he stood still off the path. She thought this must be a great advantage. She herself only had the one field back home where she blended in. She had loved that field very much.

all of a sudden she had a flashback of when she had been caught. It had been in that field.

*her heart started racing fast again* She needed to run, she needed to get away!

Digitalia sprinted down to the stream forgetting that she was suppose to be hunting...when all of sudden she came to a bush at the stream...halting and going back on her two hind legs....as she came down every single leaving creature in the bush and nearby took off in all directions. She saw a rabbit run up towards Nagi and remembered the deep hunger in her belly.
