Taking care of Asa had really started to show the hyena that she did have a soft spot. Quite frankly, that pissed her off some. She didn't like how close the two had gotten and she didn't like how pathetic it made her feel some times.
The hyena had even cried over Asa once. Damn it, she'd vowed never to get involved with others again after her boys death. If anything happened to him... Why was she having these thoughts right now?
The female hyena was in the middle of hunting a zebra off a little ways. The scent of fresh blood was thick in the air and had, of course, attracted the hyenas attention. From the looks of it, the zebra had escaped what ever had tried to bring it down but now it looked like it was about to pay the price of running with such a deep leg wound.
Nothing personal to the zebra but Ylva had to eat. The zebra must have been aware that danger was some where near by because it kept on limping as if it was trying to escape.
Ylva sighed, shaking her troubles from her head, and crawled closer. Hell, she could have taken the kill now and been done with it. Didn't look like any other creatures had picked up on this all to perfect meal. Not yet at least.

Olayinka panted as she stalked her prey again. Stupid Zebra and its hooves. She'd almost had it if it weren't for the kick it landed to her side. It just grazed her but it was enough to make her let go of her meal. She grunted as she sank down and began to creep on the limping animal. She didn't want to risk loosing him.
The leopardess shifted her head and her eyes surveying. She'd picked up the scent of something. She snorted it wasn't the time for that. She had an original objective and payback in store for the animal.
She leaped at it, attempting to take it down by landing on its back and biting into its neck.

Ylva was just about to emerge from the grass and kill the zebra when a large cat finished the job right before her. She hadn't noticed the others scent before but now that the other was out in the open, her scent was pretty evident. The hyena cursed under her breath, the thick smell of blood had made her stupid. Stupid stupid stupid.
The kill was claimed and Ylva was not happy. She rose from the grass, her icey blue eyes trained on the leopard.
"Where the hell did you come from?" Acid leaked from her words as she snarled. It was possible this leopard was the original hunter. Pretty damn possible, but Ylva was annoyed and didn't care if this feline before her was or wasn't. She had to feed her self and Asa after all.
So the hyena took a bold step forward.

The leopard stood with the neck of the large animal hanging from her jaws. It'd nearly thrown her but she'd managed to conquer it.
No sooner had the hyena lifted from the ground then the leopard hunkered down and showed her teeth. Her ears were flat and her claws digging into the ground below her.
"I don't have a set territory. I go as I please. This is my kill so I'd suggest you get lost." She warned, tail whipping around like an angry snake behind her.

Ylva kept her fangs out as well. Her fur on her back stuck up like quills, and a low growl erupted from the back of her throat.
Honestly, Ylva knew she had no claim to the kill, and she wasn't about to take it by force either. The leopard had killed it after all. However, Ylva just didn't like being told she should get lost. So, blatantly not listening, she stood her ground but refrained from getting closer.
"I go as I please as I like and I don't listen to commands like a common human dog, " Her eyes flashed in annoyance but the hyena did not advance. Just wasn't worth it to her to dirty her paws over something that wasn't rightfully hers.
The growl was a steady stream from the back of the yena's throat.

Olayinka shifted her weight and began to pace back and forth in front of her meal. She was used to the more powerful predators stealing her dinner and she isn't about to let that happen again.
"You certainly look like one." She insulted putting her head down and tensing her back legs ready to try and run the hyena off if need be. "Go so I can eat in piece."

Ylva really wasn't in the mood for a scrap but so far it looked like there would be one. The yena was not happy.
" I don't want your meal leopard, that isn't why I'm sticking around." No, she'd not steal the meat. Sure, Ylva wanted it and if the leopard had her fill and there was enough left, the hyena probably would take what ever remained. But no, the insult had rubbed her the wrong way.
In all truth... Ylva probably should have left after the leopard took down the zebra. Her damn pride kept her from doing that, and her damn pride kept her standing her ground.

"Then why are you sticking around?" She instantly questioned raising the fur on her back to appear more threatening.
She didn't trust hyenas. She never had and never would. They were a bunch of scavengers. Pathetic dogs that took other's hard earned meals. She did a quick glance around and found what she was looking for. A tree she could use to keep her kill safe from scavengers.
She'd use that if this ended without blood shed.

Ylva took a bold step forward, "Pride, if you must know," She kept her self nice and bristled with a clash of teeth.
" I think I've made my point though," Ylva growled, "Your not worth the trouble of getting dirtied up," The hyena turned her back on the leopard and swished her tail in her direction. It was meant to be a rude, though it came off as a tad arrogant.
Perhaps the irritation of actually falling for another hyena had her in a pissy mood. Usually Ylva wasn't this arrogant.

"Your pride will get you killed..." She grunted, showing off her incisors.
The large cat coiled herself at the canine's words giving a low growl. It was the motion not the words that really pissed off the female.
There was the classic sound of a leopard's snarl before she bull charged her, kicking up dust and dirt. She stopped before scathing the hyena but her intent was to run her off and give her at least a startle. Stupid dog! How dare she insult her!

Ylva was not one easily scared off. No, she was just the other way around. Brave to a fault. Her eyes narrowed at the leopard and she had to give this feline points. She was just as bull headed as she was.
"As will yours?" The hyena growled. The hyena, slowly walked around her feline counterpart , eying her. Ylva's teeth were showing but she didn't make a move to bite or make physical contact. Not yet at least, not if she had to. Not if the leopard pushed her to that point.
It was then she eyed the kill out in the open, "This is stupid leopard, you left your kill out in the open. Who knows who else picked up on the scent of blood wafting about," Ylva's teeth kept showing, "I'm not a thief but I am a scavenger. As a scavenger, food laying on the ground is fair game. I give you to the count of five before I decide your kill is fair game," The Hyena put extra effort saying the your. Really, she was a hyena of honor, but this leopard pissed her off.
"One..."

The leopard pressed herself down to the earth claws unsheathed and pushed into the ground. Her tail whipped back and forth as a sure sign of aggression but this time she didn't make a move toward the hyena.
The feline's ears flattened before she looked back. She'd worked hard for that kill. "Scavengers... can't you get your own meals the right way?" She growled out.
There was just a moment of hesitation as the hyena started to count. She growled again before dashing off to stand by it. At this point she did something strange. She grabbed the leg and tore and fought with it until she'd wrenched it off along with a good chunk of the thigh.
Normally, she wouldn't do this. But the hyena was sticking around for something. Maybe a truce offering would end this pointless squabble. She chucked it toward the dog and bent to pick her kill up by the neck.
"If I can not eat it all I may just drop it out of the tree.." She voiced as she grabbed hold and started to pull it off.

Ylva was not surprised that the leopard went to her kill. What surprised her was when a leg was tossed her way. Even this solid honorable been there done that hyena could not have prodicted that.
Maybe she miss read the leopard. Ylva blinked, the shock clear on her face. The hyena wasn't the type to say thank you but the leopard had just earned a few brownie points.
"Ylva. Names Ylva, " The hyena mumbled taking the leg and dragging it into the thick of the brush. This meat, though she wouldn't say it out loud, she was thankful for. It meant food for Asa to get better and the hyena would take what she could get.
Before she disappeared completely, the hyena glanced back at the leopardess and gave her a simple smile.
"I'd ask your name but I wouldnt blame you if you didn't feel inclined to share it."

The leopard flicked an ear back in the hyena's direction. Why would she tell her name? Was it here way of thanking her?
She glanced over her shoulder, studying her before dropping the kill. "Olayinka..." She said after a while of hesitation. A name in exchange for a name seemed good enough to her. Maybe the meat was a good way to truce.
She paused again, uncertain. One minute they were fighting the next they were giving out names. To be honest she didn't have any friends at all. She hardly knew any of the names of animals she met, let alone stuck around long enough to make friends.
Olayinka had the inclination to invite the hyena to her meal. After all that fuss and squabble that very idea coming to her mind made her reel.
"... I'm alone." She stated cautiously. "... I won't be able to finish this."

The hyena blinked, surprised again by the leopardess. Really, the hyena felt bad now for being snappy earlier. She had been hasty and hot headed for no reason. Ylva wasn't about to say I'm sorry and have a cry and hug fest with the leopardess, but she would acknowledge her as an equal or greater.
"I..." She blinked, meat being offered and her name. "I'd love to." The hyena swallowed her pride, dragging the leg back with her to the kill.
"You... really are to kind," She mumbled looking down at her toes.
