My name is Fiona Bridget Seither. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and he translated the Book of Mormon. I have read said book and prayed asking if it was true and have received confirmation that it was and that I should join this church. I know that I am where I need to be. No amount of Anti-Mormon debate (academic or just plain horse dung) will ever deter me from this Church.

I believe in one God, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages;
Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not created, of one essence with the Father through Whom all things were made.
Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried;
And He rose on the third day, according to the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father;
And He will come again with glory to judge the living and dead. His kingdom shall have no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Creator of life, Who proceeds from the Father, Who together with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, Who spoke through the prophets.
In one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come.
Amen.

I hope no one is trying to lead you away from your Church sad The thing is though that you will have adherents from every religion making the same claim that you just did only in confirmation of their own particular faith. I'm glad you know where you need to be and the debate on Mormonism was not started by outsiders it was brought up by a Mormon asking for opinions on Mormonism and people responded accordingly.

I didn't mean to cause an uproar. I decided that I needed to share my feelings this way instead of getting into a contentious debate. I believe that contention is of the devil, so causing it would be a sin.

@Samantha: I would have to say I commend you for having the bravery to put your testimony on the world wide web... but I'm sorry to say that because of this guilds large amounts of haters (do to the name debate in title) they just close their ears and say crap to shut us up, so keep on the preaching sister and don't be shut down.
@IMR: correction you don't care about her testimony that doesn't mean that say someone who wants a boost in their own self esteem or self worth in God can't go and see this read it and then smile at themselves at the end of the day for reading something that another who has more bravery has lifted her candle out of the bushel and onto the mantle

since this is a topic about personal experience, i do not think debate is appropriate.
our experience is what it is.
you can debate the tenets elsewhere in the guild.

heart Such a masterful response. I agree. This being a thread for experience, posting your experiences and discussing them is obvious, but there is no reason for anyone to dog them down. smile heart

heart Being one who studies religion. I became curious one night when I read about the angels that would sing to God forever and ever, and I thought... what a silly thing to do. How could any being actually want to sing to one entity forever?
That night when I fell asleep I was in a forest, surrounded by trees and everyone that was there was dressed in white. We all started singing, looking up to the sky with a gladness in our hearts unlike any other. And to be honest, I was perfectly and utterly content singing. The words I was singing were unfamiliar to me, but I felt something very profound about them.
Then we all stopped singing and looked back towards the earth at our feet. A deep sadness overwhelmed my heart, and my body felt heavy. I was tired and empty. Looking around, I could tell that's how everyone was feeling as well. Yet also, we were for some reason afraid to start singing again. However, someone did start singing, and then one after another, everyone else joined in. Again I sang those words which to this day I do not understand. But that gladness returned to my heart. I have no doubt... it was a perfect happiness.
When I awoke that morning... I had the answer to my question.
