Unanimated were formed in 1988, and hail from Stockholm, Sweden. While their sound isn't unique (it's somewhere halfway between Swedeath, AtG-style melodic death, and a dash of Swedish black), there are few better executions of this formula. They broke up after their second album in 1995, but got together for a new album released just this year. Unanimated's members have been involved in bands such as Entombed, Dismember, Carbonized, and Dark Funeral, so that's some idea of what to expect.

The second full-length, Ancient God of Evil, is my personal favorite. The first album's production is a little iffy, but it's also wonderful. Haven't tried the new one yet...
