In a rare moment of peace and reflection, the teen demon reclined against a tree, golden eyes unfocused and gazing out over the water. Recent events had caused him to take a step back, ponder on the meaning of life...

Okay, so he was just being lazy. It was nice once in a while.

Still, a moment of peace was enjoyable, even for the party-seeking, girl-chasing male. He'd recently 'fed', so he was saving his energy for future use, feeling invigorated and alive at the moment.

Ah, peace, quiet, beauty...

Okay, now he was bored.

Eyeing the sky, her antenna moved slightly as she frowned. The heat wasn't as bad, but it felt like a storm was coming. She hated being out and unprotected in the rain. The only solution would be to return to the HQ, the place that reunited her with her Daddy and the second real pae in ages.

Running her pale hand through her bright red hair as her eyes stayed to the sky not on the sand her feet treed or the familiar pae she was nearing. Her observation skills were warped by the two years, and the still pae attracted no notice from her.

Blinking out of his stupor, Devyn glanced up at the sky. Storm coming. He could feel it in the air, and the dropping temperature only cemented his belief. The clouds were rolling across the sky and he stared at them in fascination for a bit.

By the time he lowered his gaze from the sky, he was surprised to note he had a new arrival. Heh...a pretty new arrival of the feminine sort.

Wait a minute...

A very familiar new arrival of the feminine sort. Leaning forward, arm on one knee, he tilted his head, allowing the slightest hint of a grin to cross his face. He could hope...

"Grendell?"

Grendell stopped when she heard her name, turning to the sound, she was greeted with a pleasent surprise. She remembered him, the smiled tugged at her lips just in the recolection. Her pause was more to be sure she was looking at the real pae. There was no way even her ominpresent mother knew about this little secret. The fact she heard his voice was enough to finely smooth away her skepticism. "Devyn! Its been awhile! Far too long." Smiling brightly, she turned smoothly and approached the male dropping her fear of being proven a fool when he turned out not to be real. One easy way to find out, all she needed to touch him. That was already on her to do list.

Her blue eyes shined as she walked with her little sway. Watching him, she searched for signs of his mood, he was such pleasent company before. She hopped he hadn't changed, his type of company appealed greatly to her.

Yes! It was her! There goes boredom!

The demon grinned widely, climbing to his feet and quickly brushing the sand from his legs. Satisfied that he was reasonably clean, Devyn took an eager step forwards to meet his first friend from so long ago. If possible, she seemed even more beautiful than he remembered.

Probably would have been more helpful to say that out loud. Make a note of that for later.

He reached out, daringly wrapping an arm around her waist as she approached with that cute little sway of hers. He had no hesitation, given their history, and so smiled charmingly, his fangs merely normal-sized for the moment. "I agree, Gren. It's been far, far too long."

She slowed, smiled normally bold as brass, she was delighted to see him quick to respond to her appearing. Even if she was mentally sure he was real, the feeling of a real arm around her sent a jolt right through her. It was exherating, the world around here was trustworthy again! Reaching a hand up, she sought the reassurance indisguise by stroking his cheek as she had done so long ago.

No matter how inwardly scrabbled she was, she was able to push it away from her face and fight through it. A warrior that she was, this was also becoming less rare, "We really must catch up," her smile took on a grin as she finished her suggestion, "and make up on all of that lost time." Tilting her head gently to the side, her heels lifted a little as she went for a kiss. Here was an activity she had not gotten since they had last met. That needed to be rectified and he was just the pae for the job.

Devyn showed no hesitation, pulling the nymph close, his arm snugly around her waist as he met her for the kiss. His eyes drifted shut as he focused on enjoying the moment. It'd been far, far too long in truth.

Okay, to be honest, his luck with girls other than Grendell thus far had been less than inspiring. Still, it was good to see her again, as an old friend and as someone he knew was a lot of fun to find ways to waste time with.

He broke away with a smile, taking one of her hands in his, arm still around her waist. As he lifted and kissed the back of her hand, he shot her another charming grin. "Indeed, we should. Maybe you could fill me in on what you've been doing lately, my dear?" He turned, offering to escort her to a seat nearby if she'd like.

All the troubling thoughts left the young pae, so comfortable slipped down her guard for something more comfortable. It is perfection on earth, being enveloped and kissed by her charming friend. Snuggled in his hold, she let out a small content sound. The kiss broke sooner then she would have liked, but they had plenty of time to revisit that past time.

Grinning at him, she commented on his action of kissing her hand, "You've grown even more charming since we last met." Not a peep of complaint out of her, she soaked in the way he treated her. This was something she would have scoffed at watching anyone else, but since it was her experiencing the rare actions, everything was fine.

Taking the escort offered, she waited to tell her tale until they were both comfortably seated, though her definition of a comfortable seat would be the others lap. "Sadly, nothing masterfully interesting. Training, more training and helping my mother train. There is a tragic lack of interesting men in the world. I am beginning to wonder if you are an endangered species." Smiling more than grinning at that, it was easy to say due to the fact she hadn't seen a male besides her dad in two years. Even so, Devyn was a special breed, and so much fun to play with.

Tilting her head gracefully to the side a degree or two, she inquired, "How about you? I am sure you've had lots of fun and interesting stories." If he stayed around, there was no way she could see that he could have been board. Yeah there were a lot of goodie-goodie girls, but the wanna-be bad ones were out there to. Though tragically, she was only half joking with herself, once one meets her, no one else can compare.

"Eventually, time gives way to maturity and refinement, my dear," the demon crooned smoothly, her hand in his and her form pulled against his side as he escorted her towards the clearing to relax. The very same clearing where they'd enjoyed each other's company so long ago.

Fortunately, it seemed that Devyn was of like mind to the nymph. He took a seat with a slanted palm tree at his back before reaching up and gently, but playfully, pulling Grendell into his lap with a chuckle. "Comfy?" he smirked, then settled in to listen to her story.

Training, eh? Well, that wasn't really his sort of thing, so he didn't have much to add. Not physical training anyway or fighting. Now, 'training' his skills of charming and romancing? That he could handle. A good 'sparring partner' and he could 'train' all day.

His attention perked up at her comment about him. "Endangered, eh? I dunno about that." He smirked, soaking up the complimentary nature of the conversation. "If it's true though, maybe I should be worried. Endangered species generally have to worry about drawing too much attention, which serves to worsen their situation. Does that mean I should be on the lookout for hot, interesting women out for my blood?" He grinned at her suggestively, the intended compliment clear.

Of course, considering his word choice, he may have been having other tangent thoughts...like his memory of how savory she herself tasted. So rich, coppery, and sweet...

"Myself?" he questioned, distracted from wandering thoughts. "Oh, I don't know. Nothing too big really, just the Isle falling out of the sky and whatnot," he teased, waving a hand dismissively in the air. "You know, typical, everyday, boring sorts of things." He smiled warmly. "Glad to see that things seem to be changing."

'Mhm', deep from her throat came a sound similar to someone enjoying fine wine as it was meant to be, "I am grateful refinement doesn't mean dull, a mistake far too many make." As board as he may have been, nothing about her debonair said dull. Swaying next to Devyn, she delighted in the brushes against him as her steps occasionally brought her side to brush his.

The path they were taking she recognized the place as they got closer, how sweet of him to remember. Her memories of it were just as fond of it as his, inference made by the choice of local. Better to be secluded and away from the traffic of others, he was her little secret that she didn't want to share.

A small giggle escaped her, not the high pitched girlish one but the type of sound that matched the pae making it. Not even playing a resistance, a delighted red head slid easily into his lap. Leaning into the comfortable chest of her green friend, she purred quietly, "Very." More she was around him; the more it felt like he was made by the guardians just for her. There would never be a word of complaint out of her; he was just the edge that made her believe some pae just never could be boring.

Listening to his response, her smile grew and eyes dancing with humor. While she understood the different meaning for the blood comment, the thought of it almost told her hand to touch where she had willingly given before. It was avoided, just like the same urge to itch her lower back when she thought of what happened to her right after the sleep.

"Truly, you make the sweetest lure, how you survived so long is a wonder. I guess you just must be talented in more than one manner." Her grin was nothing short of as suggestive as his. In confidence, she added along with a gentle fingertip light stroke of his jaw, "You are just lucky I am here, make contenders wait in line." As far as she knew there were no other contenders, though it wouldn't surprise her if there were dozens in the wait, she was pleased with her time.

At ease with her companion, she briefly closed her eyes, delighting in the sound of his voice speaking such compliments. Granted she had responded to the question, she still knew what it was. No matter how few she may once have had, this was a girl who knew what a compliment when she heard one.

Looking back to him, she listened to what he had to say. Chuckling at his explanation at the event, her assumption was it was not bothersome for him as it had been for her and her family. Never in a million years would she admit to her first reaction to the changing landscape, walking off a sharply cut hill she hadn't expected. His power was in charm as far as she could see, though she liked to think she dabbled proficiently in seduction, mind reading was not on her list of suspected powers for the demon.

"I do like the weather, most of the time, the change of scenery is just what the guardians orderd." One of the more convoluted compliments, but she had been looking solely at him when giving it. The storm, she really hoped, was far out or would miss them entirely, though a down pour had its potentials.

((Apologies for the short post. Just trying to get things moving again and get my muse kicked back in gear. XD))

---

The demon chuckled, agreeing, "A change in scenery indeed." He leaned in, casually kissing her cheek before leaning back relaxed, one arm propped up, the other around her waist. His eyes were on the horizon for the moment and the wind had shifted, crossing the water and bringing a humid sort of chill with it to meet the pair of Pae.

Pulling Grendell closer as a result, Devyn peeked over her shoulder with a smile. "You're not cold, are you?" The question was just as suggestive as it seemed, considering the demon was only too happy to help the nymph keep warm. Not that he had much to offer other than himself at the moment. A blanket or something might have been nice though. Ah well.

Content, Grendell too allowed her eyes to wonder to the sky. The darkening clouds concerned her. While she wouldn't melt in the rain, some silly females and males apparently thought that by the way they acted, it didn't mean she liked to get soaked either.

Her shadow shield would work, for a time. However, the concentration she'd need on it would be wasteful. Concentrating on Devyn was more worthwhile.

Curling up a little, the teen was all too happy to take the suggestion. Changing her own position so she was sitting side ways, she leaned completely against the warm demon's body. It wasn't much, but like she was going to pass on closer cuddle time. Pfft. "I was." Okay, she still was getting cooler, but she was used to living outside and surviving in the elements to be bothered completely. It was much more fun to pretend in order to get her demon, though.

Speaking off, cold and humidity often meant rain, especially with a fall in temperatures. Putting a hand up to lightly brush where the clavicle meets the breast bone, she comments none too innocently, "If it starts to rain, we just might need to find a warm shelter to ride out the storm together. Body heat is quite effective in doors." A fire would be a great bonus; the place being completely empty would be another plus. Not that she cared if anyone saw her do anything, no matter where it was on the scale of decent and kid friendly. Nothing about here was exactly 'kid friendly' anyway.
