The unspoken had been spoken, and now it seemed that the clan was divided between old and young. For some, however, their hearts kept them from taking a side right now. One of these was Sestina, a red and black huntress, who, although wise and strong, was refusing to lend her support to either side. She was claiming that "Look, it's not like I think she's coming back. Far from it. She's dead and gone, and we have to move on. But we're good for now. Really, we are. The new clan that's forming in the north? They are not good. Those Domorians need help. I think I'm gonna lend my paws to them; I'm strong and young, and I have a pretty good head on my shoulders. So I'm going to help them now... and then when they're taken care of, I think that's when we should pick a new leader. Perhaps our new leader will show themselves when we're helping the Domorians, no?" The red and black cat grinned at her companions. "I think this might work. I really think it will. Heaven knows those cats in the north deserve a proper place to call home; would you deny that to anybody?" Nervously, she looked around for clan elders or the dissidents. Neither seemed present; it wouldn't do to pick a fight with either side right now. She had better things on her mind.

Ciannait settled back on her haunches, watching the yowls of her packmates with hooded eyes. She, too, was young - not so young as some, but not so old as to avoid the scornful eyes of those more loyal to the old-fashioned ways than not. The unspoken had been spoken indeed; but now that the deed was done, it was better to get all the speaking out in the open.

Cian's serious eyes were trained on the red-and-black hunter who spoke. No sooner than she finished than the murmurs of the others picked up again. No doubt it was going to be a fight to get a word in edgewise with all of the Serealie at each other's throats.

"I, for one, agree with Sestina." All Cian did was stand - her low voice did the carrying for her. "I am young, yes, but you all know me. I help to bring food back for your bellies. I watch for your children when they leave our pack lands. I rove and patrol like any of you.

"But these Domorians... They have no such patrols. They are a young union, in an unstable land. Would they to thrive in this union, they would remember the Serealie who lent them a paw in hard times. I believe that their alliance could help us - and besides. Who better to gain them as allies than we? Better this young pack remember our paws than those of, oh, say, the Sahar."

Cian frowned rightfully at her packmates, and sat once more. This, at least, was something that they could all agree on. Choosing a new leader? That was as good as a lost cause.

The green and black cat was right, and Sestina tried to catch her eye. It was nice to know that she wasn't the only one who felt this way; leadership of the clan wasn't the most important thing right now. Doing what is right? That was. Sidling over to Ciannait, she nodded at her. "Thanks, friend," she said in a low voice. "It seems that we've hit a little bump in the path, no? But it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who thinks that way."

Kanni, the ancient one, looked gravely out at the hunters. So it came to this. The old and feeble were the only ones who believed any more. But at least all the youth wasn't like that Juska... Still, she could hardly let this go unrecognized. "It is... good to see that some of you know how to behave as a clan." She looked around for the representative from the Domorians. The emissary who'd remained to try and convince this clan to assist them was somewhat terrified. He had no idea what he'd just walked into, but maybe, maybe this would work. Some of these cats coming back with him would be wonderful. Unless, of course, they all started fighting, and then he was out of there. He remained where he was, tucked behind the speaking platform, out of direct harm's way. Once he was sure that a fight wouldn't break out, he would come out of hiding. Kanni wasn't giving him that chance, though. "The good representative here will lead all who wish to go to his homeland." She spoke imperiously, implying that if you didn't wish to go, you'd better start wishing. "We will help them- it's for the good of their clan and ours."

Meanwhile, Juska watched the hunters converse as she plotted. Despite the air of confidence she'd exuded at the council gathering, the female was really quite insecure about her position right now. There had been a lot of old cats there, and a lot of them were firm believers in the idea of Askane coming back. She snorted derisively. To believe that anybody could come back from the dead... ridiculous. Shaking her head and flicking her ears, she focused on the hunters, her tailtip twitching as she lay alone with her thoughts. They looked young and strong, and they seemed to have made their mind up about something or other. What if she was wrong about Domoria? Could she perhaps turn this current situation to her advantage? Maybe she could volunteer to go with a group up... but she'd have to find an excuse to change her mind first.

She continued to watch from a distance. Right now wouldn't be the time to move; she'd have to make her case later, when everything was opportune. Let the hunters continue their conversation, for now.
