Physical Description: Gakere is, as his name states, incredibly muscular, and could be considered extremely intimidating if it wasn't for the wide, easy-going smile generally on his face, or his quiet, low pitched voice. The exceedingly tall man [somewhere north of 6'5"] is very dark of skin and hair, which he wears in thin, highly maintained dreadlocks tied back and down to his shoulder-blades. Large, calloused hands and feet, broad shoulders, and a strong jaw declare masculinity in contrast to high cheekbones, thick eyelashes, and full lips that reveal a more sensitive nature. Pale green eyes that match his mother's and the journeyman is generally considered very attractive.
Though his clothing, which is high-quality and tailored to his fit form, varies regularly, there are many things about his appearance that are constant. He prefers his clothing to be either boldly colored or completely white and always has many pouches on hand, filled with herbs and healing supplies. Generally, he always carries some sort of satchel, as well.
Personality: Focus, intelligence, and dedication seem to be traits that run in Gakere's family, specifically on his mother's side. The young man is extremely passionate about his work, showing a sense of ease with beasts and dragons and refreshing, good-natured candor with other humans. When working, Gakere is very calm, always soothing and quiet to his patients, explaining procedures and asking permission, whether or not they can verbally respond.
With his friends and family Gakere is warm, cheerful, enjoying the company of children just as much as those his own age. For his hard work and demeanor he is viewed with respect in his family, by both men and women, and returns those sentiments. His first response when meeting somebody is polite, followed by curiosity. It takes him awhile to form a judgment about someone, preferring to observe them himself rather than take hearsay to heart.
That said, he both welcomes and offers advice, as well as gossip and local news, much like the ideological barber, he quietly listens to what people have to say, without necessarily taking their words as his own truths.
Very honest, when Gakere speaks, it is after much thought. He has no problem leading the pack, however, socially and personally he make choices in his own time, only quickly deciding things when sure or experienced, rather than at someone else's pressure. In a work or formal environment, he makes quick, educated decisions that are as objective and efficient as possible.
As a lover, Gakere is romantic and open, bringing gifts of his hands, heart, and mind to a relationship in the form of gifts, words, intellectual and emotional discourse, and dependability. Preferring to let things unfold as they will, he makes no promises he can't keep, nor does he speak often of the future. Instead, the journeyman prefers to make the present enjoyable and live a life that he won't find regrets in.
History: Born at Nerat Hold alongside the family of Dayo, a new candidate at Ista Hold, Gakere was sent away to Fort Hold at a extraordinarily young age when it was noticed that he spent almost all of his time tending to the farmbeasts, pets and flits rather than doing any farmwork. As part of another large family, his parents and relatives saw nothing wrong with letting the boy explore another line of teaching, and rather than having him attempt to patch up his siblings and peers [but more importantly their non-human companions], they decided he should have the opportunity to learn more seriously.
At the Major Healercraft Hall, Gakere excelled, the principles of hard work and dedication his family valued helping him to focus on his studies. Presented with the opportunity to specialize, Gakere decided to take a more thorough look at the herbs and plants he used in his main love, the healing of all creatures, and is now quite the herbalist. Still, his primary focus is on work with beasts of all kinds, though he is least familiar with those of the water.
Attaining Journeyman status just after 18 turns of age, Gakere remained at the Healercraft Hall an additional turn before beginning to travel. Returning first home to Nerat Hold, the young man reunited with his childhood friend Dayo to learn of her search and resulting candidacy at Ista Weyr. Hearing of the crowded conditions and large clutches, Gakere decided to make the journey to Ista and see if could be of use. Several months after Cheoth's clutch hatched, the healer arrived at the Weyr to rumors of transfers.

Other/Talents: Gakere has quite a bit of rhythm and is a good dancer. He enjoys wrestling and swimming. He likes to throw a ball around and is reasonably skilled at reading and writing. Excellent fine motor skills for detail work and some cooking also fall under his talents.
