The sun was out and he was quite content taking advantage of that, soaking the rays into his coat as he stretched out on a rock that had already taken in a good bit of heat. It was nice like this, really... And maybe, just maybe, this area wasn't all that bad. As long as there was sun, at least. Without the sun it was just like being inside the caves and he didn't care all that much for that. There was a reason why he held the position he did, after all... Beyond needing to be the one to catch the best stories to bring back.

Manar moved slowly, his paws leading him in no particular direction. It was hot out and he really didn’t feel like sitting still and just melting under the sun. Of course, moving around was only making him feel even hotter, the sun taking no mercy even against his white pelt.
As he walked, he noticed another leopard not far from him, a smile moving over his face. Oh good- he wasn’t the only totally awesome animal in the place. Sliding over carefully, he sat not too far from the lounging other, tilting his head to the side. “Hey,” he offered, “what are you doing?”

He opened one eye, glaring almost lazily at the other leopard before closing it. "... What does it look like I'm doing?" He muttered grumpily, quite content with his lack of conversation until it settled in his mind that the voice was unfamiliar, as was the face he'd gotten a brief glimpse of. He opened his eye once more, glancing the leopard who stood before him over once before opening his other eye to get a better look, obviously a bit more interested now. "Hmm... I don't believe I know you."

Looks like you're trying to roast yourself under this hot sun." He frowned- this guy wasn't nearly as cool as he was, but that was alright. Still cooler than the lions since he was, in fact, another leopard. Maybe he was trying to bleach away those bright colors on his pelt. Not that they weren't great, it was just a thought.
Sometimes he worried he had too many thoughts.
"Nope, you don't know me," he replied, "the name's Manar. Who are you?"

"Mpatis." He murmured, nearly groaning as he pushed himself up onto his paws to stretch out in a most lazy manner. "My name is Mpatis... And I was trying to soak up some warmth. This area gets rather chilly at night and it helps to have what warmth you can get, unless you've got someone to sleep with." A sly smirk of sorts curved the corners of his mouth. "But seeing as though you're new... I doubt you've found anyone yet, unless I'm wrong and you have."

"It's nice to meet you, Mpatis," the leopard said with a slight nod of his head. Now that it didn't look like this leopard was going to rip his throat out, he was actually looking forward to having a bit of a conversation. Though, he found the topic coming into play a rather embarrassing one. Feeling his face heat secretly under his fur, Manar shrugged his shoulders.
"I guess that's true- though I wouldn't really know about snuggling up with someone. You're not wrong, I haven't "found" anyone yet. But in my defense, I haven't been looking either! What about you? I guess if you're catching the heat now you must not have a lady friend either."

"Can't say I've found a lady friend, but I do have a friend to curl up with at night." He couldn't help but grin at that, tail swishing behind him as he cast a thought to said friend. "I'm pretty sure that Usiku gets cranky when I'm not around come bed time, even if there are times he'd certainly swear otherwise. It's just his nature."

Manar tilted his head. That seemed like an odd thing for him to say.
“So you curl up with a dude?’ he asked, just making sure he was on the same page, “is that better than curling up with a girl? I guess it’s probably warmer… more meat to have around you. Still, I dunno. I think I’d be more comfortable with a lady. Or… two. Maybe three, depending on how I’m feeling that night.”
Yeah, he’d never been with a female before. But that didn’t mean his new friend needed to know about that.

"Well..." He glanced over his shoulder before looking around suspiciously, making certain that Usiku wasn't around to overhear what he was going to say next (he'd never hear the end of his companion knowing he'd admitted it). "... I'd take Usiku's company over a lady's any day. I mean... Do ladies ever really understand you? Sure, they're good for some things, but I can't imagine spending every minute of every hour of every day with one."

“Aw, that’s adorable,” Manar said somewhat teasingly, grinning. He seemed only a breath away from singing about the two of them sitting in a tree. One more hint that he wasn’t really into the mate scene, male, female, or something in between.
“Well, I wouldn’t spend more than one night with a lady, that’s for sure! You don’t really need them to get to know you, right? So long as they get the job done, if you know what I mean,” did he know what he meant? Manar, himself, wasn’t entirely sure what he was trying to elude to, “If I had to spend every day with one… man, I think I would go insane for sure!”

"Hmm... Maybe you're right and maybe... Well, what if they had a really good story to tell? Would it be worth it then?" His brow lofted slightly as he stretched again, toes spreading as his paws slid out in front of him. There were quite a few things that he'd do for the rights to tell a good story... Spending a few days with a female was one of them, no matter what Usiku might think of it.

“Maybe,” Manar hummed, “though I think my stories will always be better than some girl’s story…” no, wait, that was wrong. He was trying to get out of that way of thinking, “I mean… yeah, that would make spending more time with her worth it, sure. I wouldn’t pass up a new story to listen to!”
He didn’t think it would be too terrible, really, if he needed to spend more time with a girl for the sake of a story to bring back. If that lady happened to be good at… whatever it was girl’s were good at, then the story would be a perk, right?
“Hey, so girl’s are the ones that have babies, right? If that’s the case… you can’t have kids if you stay with a dude, right? You don’t want to be a dad?”

He blinked as he glanced at the other male for a moment before bursting out in a laugh. Oh, that was a good one. "A father? Me? Oh, no, no... I would make an absolutely horrible father. The only good cub or pup is one that you can give back to its parents; no responsibility beyond making sure the story's passed on." He nodded, firm in that standing. He wasn't made for that sort of thing.

“Ha! At least you’re honest about it. I think I would make a totally awesome father. I would so be able to teach my kids everything they’d need to make it in life. Hell, even if the mother didn’t stick around I think I’d be able to handle things on my own! There’s nothing I can’t handle.”
He chuckled at the thought of passing babies back and forth. “I guess… I just think I’d like little means running around at some point. Or half me, anyway.”

His brow lofted slightly as he glanced at the other male once more. "You're pretty darn sure of yourself, aren't you." A smirk curved the corners of his muzzle. "That's a good thing, I guess... But remember, just in case you ever run off and make those little yous, the whole pride is here to help as well. That's what we're here for..." Some of them, at least. Others he wouldn't trust with a cub if his life depended on their well being at the end of the day... Like the pesky leopons who marked the tunnels.
