The tall male lion waited patiently for his love to arrive, as he sat next to a giant boulder that marked the separation between the lush grassy lands of the Valborrin Pride, and the dry beaten earth of the Kalkaxis Pride - or as the Valborrin's called them, 'The Unwelcome.' He had snuck away from his regal, upper class parents to meet with his forbidden love. Sitting, he adjusted his glasses to better see the returning silhouette of his life long companion, Kidege.
"Master, Master! She comes! Just over the hill!" the small bird tweeted as she darted about the lion's white main in very ecstatic circles.
The lion laughed. "Thank you Kidege! What would I do without you?" his massive voice bellowed, despite his attempted to remain quiet. He was full of excitement, finally able to see his love after countless nights of having to attend ceremonies. His ceremonies. Ceremonies that would soon ascend him to the throne so to speak. Ceremonies, that would make him the king of his pride. And as much as the male wanted to take over in his fathers footsteps, he wanted his mate at his side even more....

 Tatu, being the ditzy lion that she was, smiled at her parents and went out for a walk. This had always been a secret for her and Amri, who was sitting on her back, eying the sky with a little distaste. Tatu was all but excited, barely keeping her giggles together when she wander from her pride. THe breeze blew past her mane and she sighed, wondering if Nuku was there.
It was then she paused, having walked to the top of a hill. She has no idea where Nuku is...She began to panic and her eyes dart about, loking for any signs of her love. "Amri, Amri! Where is Nuku again? Amri!!!" The mouse sighed and hopped off his mistress' back.
"Come, mistress..." Tatu was blinking in panic and followed Amri, panic in her voice. She did not catch the voice of Nuku as she was in too much of a panic to actually think of anything else.

Nuku could hear his mate's frantic cry. A deep rumbling chuckle escaped his vocals. If it wasn't for Amri .... well Tatu might be lost forever. But this didn't bother him. It was one of the many things he loved about her. She wasn't some high and mighty know it all lioness who felt the need to correct you at every turn. She was a simple lioness, with every day hopes and dreams. He even enjoyed explaining things to her, even if he had to over and over. But not for the fact that it made him feel smart, but for the fact that he wanted to be like a teacher. A knowledge giver to young and growing cubs. And Tatu.... she was his finest student - or so to speak.
"Kidege. Come, we will meet her half way." Nuku said as he stood to his paws and shook his white mane gently, careful not to fling his glasses off his face.
"Yes Master!" Kidege chirped in a sing song like voice that all birds of the Valborrin Pride Lands seemed to do. She swooped low over Tatu's head and then rounded about and landed next to Amri with a few hops and skips. She was careful not to get stepped on by Tatu's large paws.
"Tatu, my love." Nuku said, his dark figure now in plain sight thanks to the moonlight. He stretched out his wings, the shadows of the night making him seem larger then ever.

Tatu was still in panice when she heard Nuku's voice. Surprised she roared in happiness and literally glomped him with her entire body weight. "Nuku!!! I am so glad, I thought I lost you!!!" Mind you, she does not even realise that it was the 100th time she had said that and she might continue saying that every time they were to meet.
Tatu clung to her love like there was no tomorrow, narrowly avoiding stepping onto Amri and Kidege while she was glompign Nuku.
Sighing afterwards when he spread his wings, she smiled at him and nuzzled into his white mane, happy to see him after being away from him for a long while.
"What shall we do today, darling?" She was definitely out of it cause she had definitely forgotten that it was their anniversary of meeting.

Nuku laughed, and had prepared the answer he always gave her. "What ever you wish to do my love." he said as he nuzzled her gently, before pulling her face towards his with his massive, yet gentle paws. Leaning in, he gave her a soft, lingering kiss.
Kidege chirped loudly in her usual sing song voice as she flittered into the air above Amri, and covered his eyes with her claws. "Amri must not look! No peeking!" she giggled as she shut her one good eye as well, like a small child.

Tatu smiled and leaned in for the kiss, savourig his breathtaking scent and melting into the kiss.
Amri was staring, he could not deny it, but to have Kidege point it out was what he did not want. "Oi!!! Kidege! ICan't see!!" He was frantically grabbing at Kidege's clas so that he can at least see where he is but no, the bird was persistant. The claws were beginning to dig slowly into hie eyes too.

Kidege laughed, though her laugh was more chirping and singing, and it rang into the night's air like music.
Pulling away from the kiss, Nuku smiled and ran a paw down the side of her muzzle. "Where would you like to go My Love?" he asked, as he draped a wing over her side protectively. Staring out into the night, he knew their choices were limited. While the Kalkaxi's lands were nothing spectacular to see, they were more safer to venture upon than the Valborrin lands. Funny how that seemed to work. The barren and wasted lands more forgiving then the lush and eye catching grassy hills.
Though... there was one...other option. The small enclosed lands at the base of the Maltisk Mountains - a small place Nuku had affectionately dubbed, Ashiki Cove. It was tucked away and very well hidden. A perfect place for the two forbidden lovers to be.....that is if they could soar through the skies unseen. The only way to enter said cove, was by wing.
(Ashiki means love in Swahili)

Amri was not amused. Though, the singing was calming him somewhat but he was not amused...safe to say he is not plucking out the feathers from Kidege yet...
Tatu could not help but melt into the kiss and the way Nuku touched her. Sighing, she had completely blanked out and the question went unheard. Interestingly, Tatu managed to regain her senses after Nuku draped a wing over her.
"Huh? Nuku?" Blinking at him, she nuzzled into his white mane again and stared at her surroundings. It is such a lovely sight to behold. (Mind you, anything many would see as plain and deserted, she sees as beautiful)
"Where are we going love?" glowing red eyes looked up to Nuku as she said this. Yes, she did completely not hear that question after the kiss. Trust her to do that...

Nuku laughed softly, his deep bellowing voice rumbling from the pit of his stomach. "To the Ashiki Cove. What better place to spend our days then there?" he questioned as he began to lead her down the path. They would be able to travel by paw for a great distance until they reached the heart of the Valborrin Pride Lands. From there on, it was risky.
His tail swayed in a unheard rhythm as he held her gaze with his own. He could not help but smile ear to ear as he lead her. She was simply breath taking.
Kidege laughed again and gently took her claws away from Amri's eyes as she fluttered about over head. "Come come! We will lose them!" she sung in her high pitched musical tone as she darted after the two lions.

"Ashiki Cove?" Tatu tilted her head to one side in a clueless manner. Blinking as she was lead by Nuku, she sighed at the gaze her love pinned her with and smiled, nuzzling him. She smiled and thought about what they were going to do there, a little nervous as well.
Amri was still not pleased but when Kidege took her claws from her eyes, he gasped and patted at them, hoping that they were still intact. That bird is going to be the end of him. "I am coming, Kidege..." he replied as he sprinted towards his mistress behind the bird.

Nuku nuzzled her back. "Yes, we have been there only once before. I think its time we go back for a visit." he said gently with his deep voice. The breeze blew his white main softly against his neck. Pausing, he looked over his shoulder. They were now at the point where they needed wings to enter. "Kidege, this is where you come in." he said as he turned to his faithful companion.
Chirrping in her usual sing song voice, Kidege quickly fluttered over to a few near by trees. Three to be exactly, all huddled together as if they were seeking warmth. After flying in, a few moments in silence, Kidege flew back out chirping loudly. Behind her a swarm of birds took to the sky, their tiny multicolored bodies almost blocking out the sky.
"Lets go love! Theres out cover!" he grinned as he took to the skies, flying along side the birds. They provided the perfect disguise to the Valborrin lions on the other side, whom would surly stop Nuku once they set eyes upon him.

Tatu nodded and looked at her mate, having forgotten how said Cove looked like. "Okay! That sounds like fun!" She was excited and stretched her wings as if she had just woken up. It was then she heard Nuku say something to Kidege. Blinking, she turned to see Amri sprinting towards her. Turning and lowering her head, Amri jumped onto her back, clinging to her mane. "Where are we going, mistress?" the mouse inquired as Tatu’s gaze rested on Nuku, then to the sky.
"Ashiki Cove" came the reply. Tatu’s eyes widen as Kidege returned with a flock of birds and Nuku suddenly taking off into the sky. Stretching her wings again, she took a run and flapped her wings, soaring into the sky with ease. She was lagging behind but managed to catch up with Nuku. Amri was taken off guard and nearly feel off. He had clung onto her tail when they were in the sky. "So much for not warning me..." he muttered as he slowly and painstakingly climbed onto his mistress’ back.
"Nuku! On no, I lost him again!!" Amri’s small paw met his head as he steered his mistress towards Nuku.

NUku couldn't help but laugh. "Follow the birds!" he roared as he soared along side the fluttering cloud.
Kidege was swapping lead with a beautiful purple and golden colored bird that lead the flock.
Soon they had cleared the dangerous part of the Valborrin territory and Nuku came to a gentle landing on a cliff overlooking a small cave with its very own waterfall, and 4 beautiful weeping willow trees whose branches spread out over a small pond like a tent. "We are here my love." he said softly before turning to pet Kidege whom landed on the ground next to his paw.

Tatu was in panic mode but was subdued when she heard Nuku's voice. Smiling and flapping her wings harder to keep up with him, she did not realise that Amri was still hanging on for his dear life. Smiling, she soared with him and soon they landed on a cliff. Blinking, she smiled and padded over to Nuku and nuzzled him.
Amri was in panic mode this time, considering how high they were off the ground. He managed to cling onto Tatu's back but the grip was not so good unless he digged his paws into her back. But it was lucky that they landed and he managed to save his mistress from loosing her concentration in flying.
"So beautiful!!! Nuku, look! Butterflies!!!" Tatu was excited and was tempted to jump into the lake.

Nuku laughed and flapped his wings once and soared down to land in the lush grass lands below. Looking back up, he nodded his head for her to follow.
"This way Mistress!" Kidege chirped loudly and fluttered down to join him.
