User Image The day had started out quite good, the sun was shinning and the beaches were warm and the surf cool. It was quite normal, very, very normal. A small blotchy blue filly with white and cyan streaked hair sighed as she rolled onto the white sands. The filly was hoping that something would come along and end her boredom. A small crab wandered past, but she only looked on as it kept going. She didn't feel the need to get up and ask the small creature what it was or where it was going. Then again, the last thing she asked tried to bite her. A wretched thin, it was low to the ground and had strange flat feet and like a hard body.

"Oh me, oh my, how bored am I." She sighed rolling over again, her sandy side exposing itself to the sun that blazed of head, or that had blazed over head.

Listing her head some, Oceana looked towards the skies that had started to cloud. Well it was just a couple of clouds here and there, still it was enough to block out the sun. The surf lapped at the sands still in a gentleness that was almost like a lover's caress. Pulling herself to her hooves, Oceana shook the sand from her scales, wandering to the surf, or at least the edges and looked longingly out towards the horizon, wondering strongly of the many questions she had about what was past the horizon. Consumed by the soft melody of the ever shifting tides, Oceana had forgotten where she was and the possibility of someone coming along. Someone's potentially more dangerous then what laid itself out before her...

Unfortunately, the blue filly known as Oceana was about to get her wish. A very strange and conflicted kirin the likes of which Oceana had surely never known and her elders would never, ever want to meet was silently stepping toward her, moving gracefully and purposefully in a sort of crouch that clearly spoke of someone looking for a meal.

Enfys had not been in control of his own body for weeks, and thus it was that the shell-cracked kirkani that Enfys had tried to suppress for so long stalked the owner of a deliciously fresh scent toward the sea. He moved carefully, moving as little of the earth and plant life around him.

He didn't entirely count on the fact that Lunch was a very curious little filly who would make a depressingly easy target. To him, he was about to get lunch, ready or not. And given that Enfys hadn't eaten much in the last 24 hours, he didn't care much about the prey, as long as it was meat, preferably kirin, and he could successfully catch it and eat it. Right now.

Caught in her daydreams, her fantasies, Oceana didn't quite catch the slight shifting of the sands behind her. Or the easy rustle of the leave that laid at the far side of the beach that lead inland. It was only when the winds that lulled even her to sleep at night shifted to blow a strange and almost alluring scent towards her. Eyes widening, her daydream of what could lay past the horizon shattered as she turned sharply towards the new face behind her. Was that blood she had smelt? Taking another whiff of the air that blew in her face, yep that was it. Already she could taste the metallic taste in her mouth, ack, nasty.

"Hey mister? Why do you smell like you do?" She asked, not taking her eyes off the strange, larger male. "And why are you staring at me like that? Is there something on my body that shouldn't be there?" Turning in a tight circle, it almost looked like she were trying to catch her short bushy tail. Making herself fall back upon her rump, she looked back to the male, or was it two? Oh the world spun now, yep, she completely made herself dizzy. "Will you two stop moving? Please?"

The creature cursed but managed to maintain a fine veneer of composure in front of the filly. "You have nothing growing upon yourself that should not be there," he said casually. "My scent is the scent of those who eat what I do." He watched his lunch spin in circles. "There is just one of me, of that I am quite certain, and this one is not moving." Jackpot. He'd hit jackpot with lunch that had not even the foggiest idea that it was dinner. Perfect. As long as he didn't alarm her until he pounced, he was guaranteed a fine, tender little feast today. It was certainly his lucky day, and not the l this naive little filly.

Slowly her vision stopped spinning and the two kirin forged back into one that she could see. Indeed there was only one, and also indeed that it wasn't moving, but she still wasn't so sure about that scent. The male had said that it was the scent of one that ate what he did? And just what was that? Pulling her rump from the muddied sand, it having coated her white and cyan tail in a thick layer. Matting the threads together into an unsightly mess. Not that Oceana seemed to care as she looked closer at the white and rainbowy stallion. She might have gone closer if the scent around him didn't make her head swim.

"And what is it that you eat? I've smelt many things, but this is not one of the things. You smell like something, someone had been either feasting on or rolling around in the left overs of someone's meal..." Oh she hadn't the foggiest idea what was going to happen if she didn't smarten up. :So whish is it?"

Standing off to one side of the stallion, her pale yellow eyes watching him with some curiosity and a lot of naivety. True she was always looking for the answers to just about everything that happened to pop into her small, little head. Mud stricken tail twitching behind her, she waited for her answers, not expecting this male to do anything, but stand there and talk. The last thing on her mind was him attack.

Enfys imperceptibly tensed. His moment had come earlier than he would have liked, but it had come. "I do not roll in the refuse of other hunters. I enjoy a good chase, indeed I do, and anything that is not powerful enough or swift enough is my supper," he said easily in his friendly tones as he prepared to pounce. "In fact...I'm about to eat right now." He charged the clueless dark filly, scrambling on the unfamiliar sands, his own golden eyes alight with the thrill of the chase and the prospect of a good lunch, teeth bared in a hungry grin, horn lowered to skewer his Lunch.

Young eyes widened as she noted the tenseness of the stallion before her. Ears laying themselves back and fore hooves spacing themselves apart a little before she backed away, hind hooves stepping into the reaches of the lapping waves. What was he doing? Was he calling her lunch? But she wasn't lunch, she wasn't anyone's lunch. Staring up at the stallion for the moment she didn't quite react fast enough. When she saw him come the short distance between them, Oceana turned quick and scampered. Kicking up salty mud with her hind hooves, though it wasn't an intentional aim, some might have gotten into the stallion's face as she retreated down the shore line.

"I'm not lunch..." She cried over her shoulder, not looking where she was going at the moment. "Maybe I could find you a fish or something? The sea has lots of fish." Head swinging around from looking over her shoulder towards the male to looking out over the seas. "There's many fish out there." But in the pit of her stomach, Oceana had a feeling she wasn't going to get through to him... She had done it this time.

On this last count, little Oceana was absolutely correct. Enfys wasn't about to eat fish when a delicious filly who didn't know better was close at hand. The sandy mud did get in his golden eyes and he roared in pain and anger. Lunch had defied him! He couldn't let his lunch defy him like this! Unfortunately, not much got in his eyes, and he continued his infuriated charge after the hapless filly. "Who would want to wait for some fish when a proper meal is in front of them?!" he roared. "The sea may have many fish, but that will not sate my appetite soon enough, and if you can neither defeat me nor escape me, you will be my lunch!"

Hooves digging into the mud, flinging some still within her wake. Oceana dashed faster, wanting in all hope to get away from the crazed male behind her. Why did he had to pick her to be his lunch? Taking another glance over her shoulder, she flinched inwardly and looked forward just barely seeing the piece of driftwood that caused her downfall. Gasping as her ankle caught on the driftwood, she tumbled head ling to the ground, sand and mud were flung into the air as she went. Rolling some, Oceana came to a halt when the icy foam of the seas touched her back. Brr, that was cold and mad her shiver. Shaking her head, Oceana tried clearing the sand that had gotten into her eyes, oh this wasn't good.

"Had I been someone else, would you still have me for lunch?" she asked staggering back to her hooves. "What if I were someone you knew?"

Oceana stood, listening to the seas that roared over even the steps of the other kirin. At times she lost him, before finding a step here and there. Shaking her head again, desperate to get the sand from her eyes, wanting to see again and not become someone's lunch. Ears perched atop her head, she listened.

((I think Oceana's bought herself a ticket out and an end to this RP. ^^ wink )

Enfys skidded to a halt, an inch or two from catching the filly's leg in his jaws. The mad light died, and a horrified look came into his eyes. "Did I...did I try to...?" he asked, knowing the answer and wishing it wasn't so. What are you waiting for, you idiot?! Eat her! You're famished, and she's not going to escape you, so eat her! the kirkani screamed in his mind. He'd bash his head into a tree and scream at it to shut up if he wasn't on the beach trying to prevent himself from eating the little filly before him. "I...I...I can't," he whispered to himself. "Iris...my little ones...oh Goddess...what have I tried to do?"

He half-roared, caught between his desire to devour the filly and his horror at the very notion of doing so. "Run! Run away from me, little one! If you don't run..." he trailed off as he fought to hold down the kirkani inside long enough for the filly to get away. "Run now! Run while you have the chance!" Not much time. If she didn't run now, she'd die, and Enfys did not want to have the blood of a foal on his hooves.

Oceana managed the blink away most the sand from her eyes and watch the male ram his head into a tree? Tilting her head she noticed the horrid fire had left his eyes and that he was shouting at her to Run? Taking a step forwards, she wondered if there was something she could do to help him. But at his second shout to run, she did. But not before looking back one last time. Racing across the sand, leaving quite the trail behind as she slipped once more in her haste to retreat. Oceana looked back at the male, curious to his name, even though he was clearly not looking to introduce himself at the moment. But he had mentioned another name, Iris? And his little ones? Was he a father? Someone's mate too? Many more questions bubbled beneath that white and cyan mane before she was snapped back to reality. She had to run, hide and hope that he didn't follow her.

"I'm sure we will meet again." She whispered more or less to herself as she fled into the trees and into the thick bushes to hide.

[[ Guess she did. xD ]]

Enfys managed to get several mouthfuls of the salty seagrasses to stave off his hunger before the kirkani took control again. By that time, the filly had escaped. Coldly, the two existences within the stallion faced off. Well, you let lunch get away, the kirkani growled. You're most definitely a fool for that.

So what? I got sustenance into our belly, so we won't starve,
Enfys shot back.

The kirkani sighed. Even if it was that grass that is so unfit for a kirkani like us, I do have to commend you for feeding us, as a matter of personal honor.

You have honor?

Don't push it.
