The first conflict of the Hidden War was held here, at Area 51.

We...

We must stop them.

They want us to be blind, they would deny us our pasts, our rightful knowledge.

"What do we do...?" Elizabeth asked. Her mind flashed back to the high she'd gotten after blacking out.

No, no, no, no no....

She began to hyperventilate.

Clarissa was silent as she stared at Elizabeth's arms. She already knew about the knifehands, but this was a new power that she hadn't encountered. Okay, so now there are four types of mutations: Quills, Claws, Blades, and Shields.

Soon they found scientists who seemed to be attempting to destroy data (or so she thought); Clarissa raged at the sight. "NO!" She slapped Elizabeth's hand and showed her claws. She immediately charged at one of the scientists, attempting to stop them from destroying any more data. "What is that data?! Tell me what it is!" She had pinned down the man on the ground. The other guy may have continued destroying the data, but at least she had this one alive. And he is going to tell us everything we want to know.

Adela was thankful for knowing about her healing power. So it is possible for me to hurt people. She wasn't sure how she felt about that. She sincerely hoped she wouldn't need to use her new found power like that.

Helena was just a few paces behind and to Lance's left as they approached the facility, and when they came to the fence, she wasted no time in creating a makeshift entrance. She didn't even care about the blades this time, so overcome was she with an anxious anticipation fueled by the mystery force they were fast approaching.

Once in the warehouse, she knew just what these people were doing. Grissom didn't take more than half a second to determine her course of action. "Get away from that!" she shouted, running halfway across the room before approaching at a much more cautious pace, realizing these folks may be armed... or dangerous like herself. If that were the case, she held her blades up like a boxer would hold up his gloves, ready for a fight. "Lay your hands off..." The artist was desirous to declare ferocious threats to stop the perpetrators dead in their tracks, but she failed to conceive an appropriate penalty should they choose to ignore her. In the back of her mind, Helena Grissom was frightened and nervous about making such a bold move, but she refused to back down now.

Adela discovered that she had been tackled by... someone. Clarissa's clawed fist was a plentiful reason for panic, but there was no need; from behind her, Lionel pried Clarissa off with a simple gesture. Clarissa was sent several feet and onto her back, though she landed elbows first. At that point she realized there were at least thirteen people there.

Immediately energy crackled into the air as Lizzie's forearms exploded in to the familiar energy lances; lightning crackled from somewhere and there was a stiff breeze. Rocks formed into shield and weapon on Kevin, and Lionel gripped the hilt of his blade. All in all, it occurred to the Hosts that they seemed a little... mismatched. On the other hand, that really didn't matter.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Lionel's voice was first to pierce the quiet - it did not waver, it did not hesitate. He knew what he was talking about. He was ice. He was in control.

Maybe.

((To clarify for Joe, you have just run into each other. Hosts have met the Sigil-folks (soon to be called Eves.)))

Clarissa quickly got up and held her hands in a defensive posture. "You mean, you're not..." She gave a closer look at them and realized that they really had nothing on them - no papers, no discs, no information about them. "You're not from this building? You're not scientists?" Then was coming here was a waste of time? We could have used this time to find info!

Adela had gotten up rather shakily. "What the hell?" She looked at the girl that had pounced on her. Those claws of hers seemed dangerous, but the girl hadn't used them on her - not for maiming anyway. "Uhh, I'm a college student. Never seen or been in this building before now." All of a sudden, the girl in front of her crumpled. Then the girl did something unexpected; she apologized to Adela. She should be for pushing me on the ground! Then again, if I had freaky arms like her, I'd probably want to find these scientists she mentioned.

"I'm so sorry," said Clarissa. She wiped away a few tears. "I didn't mean to hurt you...I just want to find out about more about this," she lifted her hands. "I thought you may have known." She looked over at everyone from this new group. "Who are you? Why are you here? You don't feel like one of us," she asked.

"Whoa, what the Hell?"

Clarissa flew right past Schraeder, taking down Adela. Before Schraeder could respond, Lionel pulled Clarissa off. Stinging at his inability to keep Adela safe, Schraeder looked for a way to retaliate.

"What's with the arms? You some kinda circus show?" he asked, looking down at her.

Felix, angered, slapped Saieve's hand, advancing on Schraeder as his powers kicked in. Schraeder did not seem him right away, so when Felix was close and Schraeder finally saw him, reflex made Schraeder blink back a few yards.

"Whoa, back it up there, freak," he said, startled out of breath. "No reason for - "

---

At that point, Schraeder was cut off by the arrival of some military-looking personnel; presumably the last survivors of the base. They came out behind the Adams and, seeing that they had their backs turned, the black-clothed soldiers ran forward, carrying strange baton-like weapons. They moved very quickly, and quietly as well.

In the light thrown by the open door behind the Hosts, a single shadow moved.

Host-Agent R, the infamous Blond Man, stood silhouetted by the hot Nevada sun. The Hosts felt his presence and knew immediately that his was the force that had repelled and attracted them.

He looked at them through tinted sunglasses, his cigarette smoking lightly. They faced each other down, and the Hosts began to feel more and more uneasy as the Adams and Eves engaged the soldiers behind them. Something about this man was just not right, something was wrong, fundamentally wrong, something was up, what was it -

He took a single step forward, his arm rising slowly as he came. For some reason, he was raising his right hand, even though a submachine gun was held in his left. This was all the more unsettling. The Hosts knew they should move. NOW.

Clarissa wanted to help the Hispanic lady. She felt like she owed it to Adela for unjustly attacking her, but Clarissa got distracted by the sight of Host-Agent R. This doesn't feel right. At all.

She started to feel scared and held her hands in a defensive posture again. But when the man raised his hand to them, she instinctively knew to run. "Everyone run!" She started to run off, but then saw that Felix hadn't moved; he must have been to shocked/afraid to move. She went back to get him and dragged him away from there. This is not a man we want to fight.

Adela meanwhile, was dealing with some soldiers. "Where the hell are all these people coming from?!" She was fighting the unnamed soldiers wondering why they were attacking their group. First the tiny chick, and now this? She'd heard the girl scream something, but was too busy dealing with the soldiers to really pay attention.

Now Helena was really ******** confused. They weren't their enemy! She glanced over her shoulder, hoping to get some sort of clue from her companions. Instead, she got a shiver and a bad feeling. She spun a full one-eighty degrees, and couldn't be more shocked. A troop of special ops soldiers, and one creepy force emanating from behind them.

She shuddered instinctively, knowing too well that was the power that lured them here. Part of her wanted to run, but her friends were in need! Well... Grissom thought of these people as her friends. So she moved quickly, arms crossed with the blades outward to defend against the attackers. She knew she was putting herself in harm's way-- and she definitely knew sticking around was a bad idea, but they needed to be protected! Strangely, death never crossed the artist's mind.

The soldiers fighting the Eves were still coming. Somehow, they were nearly as fast, and they were getting closer and closer to hitting them.

---

Schraeder teleported behind one and grabbed him as he was running, causing him to flip back. When he was down, Schraeder kicked him in the head and took his weapon.

It was a baton-like club, crackling softly with electricity. One hit would be very bad.

He teleported back to the group, keeping a hold on his new weapon.

The Hosts moved, all except Helena. For some reason, the man laughed, and he let his arm drop.

"You failed mistakes," he said, his voice coming curiously clear over the fighting behind them. "None of you deserve to live. I knew you should have been executed. Every one of you."

He turned and walked back into the sunlight. The Hosts knew that if they wanted to learn anything here, then that man was the one they had to talk to.

As the soldiers neared, Helena slashed with both arms outward, aiming for the baton and her opponent's center of mass. She just wanted these men gone! They needed to be safe, and Helena Grissom felt the need to be here in the midst of conflict to ensure the safety of the group as a whole. One step at a time-- that's how her mind worked. Right now she was on the step that involved disabling the man in front of her. If that required killing him, the artist had no qualms with that at this very moment. Perhaps if she had time to stop and think she would hesitate (there is no doubt, really) and perhaps in the future she would regret the decision, but here and now was what counted, right? Right.

Adela had a sudden idea. My power can make wounds better or worse. So what if I try this? She forced her index and middle finger to stay tight together while the others were held in a fist. Rather than remain on basic defense, she got on offense. Please oh please oh please let this work? Facing one of the soldiers, she jabbed at a pressure point and concentrated on hurting him. I just want him bruised, I just want him bruised badly. Let this work! The man slumped over. Haha! It worked! I think.

But she couldn't do it again; it'd take too long. Instead, she focused on jabbing the pressure points of every soldier. Being in gymnastics meant learning the body's limits - she quickly learned how to make a muscle less sore as well as pressure points. Can't stop to think! She flipped backwards to dodge a punch, and with her legs kicked the soldier's chin so that his head flew back. We need to get out of here and fast!

------

Clarissa had run fast. She still hadn't let go of Felix's hand. Once they had all stopped running, she let go. "He...he knows. He knows something." She grabbed her head and let out a growl. "We need to talk to him. I gotta go back," she tried walking, but found she couldn't move. He's too strong. And scary. She also didn't think he'd let them go if they met up with him again. "I need to know...I need to know why we have this curse." He was the only one that had any clue about what they were.

Is it worth it to go back there? Face him? She found that it was worth it. Even if there was death, she would face it. I want my answers. I want to know I was forced into this and find a way to repent my sins. If the guy killed her, then so be it. But at the very least, she would get her answers. "I'm going back." She started running back in the direction they just came.

In the heat of the moment, Elizabeth didn't have time to think; every fiber of her being was scremaing out in terror at the sheer wrongness of everything about the blond man.

But Helena was back there.

If she was thinking anything, she'd be cursing her own stupidity and leaving the artist to her probable death, but thinking was difficult for one in the grip of fight-or-flight response. And so she slid to a stop and turned, running back towards the melee and her frozen ally.
