Nashi licked her reptilian lips, curled up against the dark red rocks preening herself in the sun..At least it was a rex's way of preening, rubbing her scaly hide up along the rocks rough surface, tiny clawed hands moving across her face to rid herself of any itchiness...
She had a distinct dislike of sand at the moment, the stuff seemed to get everywhere and into everything. Admonishing herself for daring to step foot out into that blasted desert...ahh but the rewards of a trek into that wasteland sometimes out weighed the annoyances.
Large white head snapping up, inhaling big breaths of air as if tasting it for a scent. "Stupid..there's no one else here." nashi huffed quietly to herself, sighing in delight as she focused back on her itching.

Lazily trudging along the sandy landscape a large reddish rex named Quixo happily held his newfound prey in his pale jaws. It was a large ground bird of somesort, but he didn't really care on what kind as they all tasted just as good. As he continued along his random path a scent from upwind came to his attention, the smell of another rex.
Normally he'd see this as a reason to change direction so as to keep his catch to himself, but he was in a chipper mood and decided that he could go see if the other would like to have a bite. That is if they were of friendly sorts. The last rex he encountered was quite aggressive, and gladly just took all of what he offered in exchange of not leaving a few marks on his own hide.

Nashi yawned casually as she finished scratching her annoying itch, nostrils flailing again with that scent caught on the wind, as if it had changed somehow. "Well now..what is it we have here" it smelled almost faintly of blood, but more prominent was the scent of another rex. Licking her lips cautiously as she stepped away from the rocks, making her way out towards the scent. A scent only told you what it was that was near by, a visual sighting though..that told you size and color and shape..all those too important details.
Bold and independent as she was, she was not stupid, if this new rex looked like trouble she'd simply take off. A fight wasnt worth it if she didn't think she could win. "And what have you caught today eh stranger? Looks like something good" nashi said softly with a smile, attempting poorly with her sharp featured grin to appear harmless, it was certainly very hard for a rex to appear harmless.. She was more interested in the rustic red splotched male then in the prey he held in his maw, certain that she'd never seen him before in her time here.

The sluggish rex turned to look at the female, taking in her details with his beady golden eyes before setting his catch down upon the sandy soil. "No idea actually" Quixo answered, chuckling as he asked, "Want some?" He tilted his head slightly to the side with his question, still examining her more as he slowly waved his tail from side to side.
With food for thought, in a literal manner, she made him think of a spicy piece of red beef that had darkened stripes carved into it from a hot grill. Topped with a white sauce and sided with a few roasted peppers, making all out delicious combination in match with the sandy colors around her. This was, in his frame of mind, how he judged someone from outside appearances.

She eyed the dead foul a moment longer, and then the male..the foul again..Her gaze shifting back and forth a bit like a ping pong ball. Finally settling on the large slow looking male. He..was certainly not a threat, haha it was odd, but she didn't feel nervous about him. Chances were the very sand around them was more of a threat then this particular rex! "No thank you" nashi said in earnest shaking her head slowly, long tail curling slightly about her legs.
"I already had a treat today...one that maybe you might be interested? Haha..tell me stranger have you ever explored the desert!" let the male have his meal, she wasn't hungry at the moment, probably wouldn't feel any of those nagging pangs for at least a few more hours. "I have, and let me tell you, there's some juicy things out there"

"Oh?" Quixo said before looking around. "So that is what this dry land is called...I didn't know. I'm just sort of passing through. Kind of a stray wanderer I guess you could say, though I'd rather be back in the shade of the oasis I passed a while back." He reached his head down to take the torso of his kill into his mouth and tear it off, easily tearing it apart in his large maw before swallowing it. It didn't have a lot of meat on it, but the taste of all the feathers, meat, and bone together had an intriguing flavor of its own.
Licking his scaly lips clean of blood he looked back to the female rex. "I have seen quite a few new creatures during my day's travel, but I hadn't the chance to sample all of them. But do tell me what info it is you have to share, I'm all ears when it comes to food." He then realized that he'd forgotten something and slightly shook his head at himself. "Pardon my manners, I'm called Quixo."

"Yes indeed..a desert, vast and full of itchy dry annoying gritty sand...Yet also full of treasures!" she smiled softly, nodding thoughtfully as she listened to him speak, he seemed like an easygoing type, maybe even a bit too docile for her tastes, still a very friendly male. "I wander quite a bit myself!" she said eagerly, grinning to find they had something in common "An oasis huh, I didnt notice that on the way out here.." maybe she should take a look back around, if she'd missed something that important.
Running her tongue over her teeth as she watched him eat, glancing out to the vast sand before her attention was recaptured by the male. "Quixo huh..I'm nanashi, haha I literally have no name" a small shrug accompanying her knowing smile. "It certainly does have to do with food, tell me Quixo do you enjoy spices? I'd never known of the things before coming here..never known of anything really, but upon coming out to the desert" nashi chuckled softly "Rare pepers, salts and chillies..The deserts full of interesting things if you know where to look"

"Nanashi..." Quixo repeated, grinning broadly. "I like it! Its a nice smooth cream with a tad of spice." Now that he thought of it, she was the first female rex for him to meet. She wasn't that bad, and so far seemed a bit fun. That is, unless she turns out to be one of those rex that love being active that try and impose it onto him. The only thing to get him to move much is an empty stomach.
His tail wagged when she mentioned spices, his interest showing through his sudden excitement. "I love spices! Especially the ones that make things really hot! But maybe my luck was bad as I didn't see any on the way here." Bringing his head back down he finished eating the rest of his avian.

Nanashi blinked oddly at quixo, trying to grasp his reasoning of her name. Never once had she heard it referred to as...well as food! Though the way he described it sounded absolutely delicious, she'd never thought of it like that, hr name.."Your truly an odd one quixo, but I like you, haha honestly I've never thought my name sounded soo good before!" she nodded with a sharp smile, her eyes sparkling as she grasped quix's sudden excitement.
"Haha, I knew you would, I find so few rex's who have any good taste in anything..they just chomp and crunch and feed themselves. They never bother to savor anything, pfft and almost have no drive to experience anything new.." she huffed shaking her head at the shame of it, her species had issues. "Mnn, oh no, your lucks not bad at all, the spices are just hard to spot. Some lie out here in deep caves, others strewn about the canyon walls...Ah did you say you like hot things?" her grin showing off her sharp teeth in a wide smile. "Ohoh..I think I might have something for you. You know of cayenne peppers don't you?" her tail swayed lazily, her head almost seeming to follow the motion, ducking a bit low rather fixated on the male. Yes she definitely liked him!

"I suppose I let my stomach do too much of my thinking..." he said bashfully, "I never really notice it when I do it...though I'm sure I'm always at it. Its just automatic for me and I can't help it. But I'm glad you don't mind!"
"Well those others must have old mushy veggies for brains!" Quixo stated, "If you don't stop to taste something you don't fully enjoy eating anything! And you certainly don't learn which foods are better." Saying such made him remember a rex he knew, who'd eat just about anything he was given even if he didn't like it the last time he had some. Not a sharp egg that one.
"Did you just say...cayenne?" he inquired, his eyes lighting up. "I do indeed know of the delicious red pepper! It is quite a delicacy!"

"Haha..everyone has their own way of describing things I suppose, your is just rather unique" she shrugged, nanashi truly didn't mind his food like thoughts. I actually made the conversation a bit more fun.
"Haha! Mushy and rotten for sure quixo" nanashi beamed happily, nodding in full agreement with the rex. "You my friend are a true food connoisseur aren't you? I should have known it from the start" her tail wagging swiftly in accordance with her mood. Nodding again eagerly, for sure she saw the rexes face brighten, realizing too that he enjoyed all sorts of treats, peppers and spices and..food!
"Yes yes! Isnt it a wonderful kind of pepper? I didnt ever imagine they'd grow so abundantly out here but..ah...Would you perhaps like me to show you where they grow?"

Quixo slowly swayed his tail from side to side as he listened to Nanashi's responses, strangely finding the sound of her voice growing more pleasant, like a slowly marinated meat in minced garlic, freshly chopped herbs, and a tad of red and black pepper. He wasn't sure on why this was but found it quite intriguing.
He grinned as he nodded his large head, hoping that the red peppers spoken of were big and juicy with abundant flavor. It had been a while, too long of a while, since he'd last had a chance to eat some fresh cayenne. And there was nothing worse for him than to miss out on a good opportunity like this.

"Heh, well come on then ya big stud! Lets get going, It's a beautiful place..well beautiful as a desert can get I imagine. What makes it so damn pretty is the peppers though, growing up the rocks like wild vines, all hidden off in an alcove under the shade so they don't cook and dry up. Absolutely delicious, they have the most intriguing orange-red color too, like they were glowing almost.." nashi laughed softly, secretly drooling over the thought of getting to bite into some. For some reason she was eager to share her hidden little spot with this rex...This one, this quixo in particular seemed worthy of the knowledge. Seemed like a rex who would enjoy the treat for what it really was, and not just treat it as another meal to guzzle and gulp down without a second thought.
Turning on her heels, tail swaying almost seductively as she headed off in an easterly direction. Turning her white patched face back over her shoulder just to check that the large male was indeed still following.

"I like the sound of this place" Quixo said, nodding his head. "And such good peppers shouldn't be left alone like that, they need some attention." He lightly licked his scaly lips, thinking of how good those red peppers could be. Normally he wouldn't want to have to share such with someone else, but he felt that he'd even let her have first bite.
Watching her tail sway like a fresh fish out of water ready to be seasoned and baked, he grinned and began to follow. He idly admired her scales for a while before stepping further enough to be at her side.

"Those are my thoughts exactly my friend! No good food should be let gone to waste, specially not peppers...I wonder if many realize the true uses peppers can have, I mean you can eat them with nearly anything, and make so many diferen't kinds of sauces and foods with them" not that she cooked, or had the ability to cook for that matter, she was after all no more then a large lizard, but the humans..oh she watched them, didn't bother with them really except for the way they prepared their meals.
Leading her newest companion out into the sandy breeches, over the first of the small dunes that led to her hideaway feast, the sand slipping and sinking underfoot but otherwise easily holding them. "Mnn, you know. I think I like you, feh your the frist decent minded male I've met!" first male with a mind really..so many were...ahh dim witted? Yes that worked.
