It had been mere days, and he was sick of it. His heartache had not gone away, and his family was just as crazy as ever, unable to help him in his heartbreak. He was completely and utterly alone..
Of course, his little friend Tada!, or..well he assumed it was a cousin of sorts, he knew they were related, was around.. But what would a pup know of love.
He laughed bitterly, haunting the forest with a chill.
He was a wolf on death row, heading for the cliff that overlooked the sea.. He could smell the ocean, but it was a distance away.. He had left the pack for a few days, and felt sure they wondered where he was.. But he no longer cared.
He'd never see them again anyway.
He started humming his sad, sad song.. and continued his crusade.
---
He was her soulmate. The old wolf had said so. And he knew plenty, being a lovely old wolf. Krigger's heart was spinning, her head was spinning, her entire life was spinning out of her control as she ran. She just blindly ran, ran for Agua Azul, ran for Raven, beautiful blue Raven. She wanted to scream or sing or something.
Everywhere they'd spent time together, she searched. Her eyes were open, unblinking, as she moved. She had to find him. She had to find him and tell him she loved him. She had to make him smile.
"RAVEN!" she cried at the top of her lungs, parading through the forests. What if she never found him?
---
He heard her voice, and he stopped in his tracks, perking his head to look behind him. Too bad he was too far gone.. He would not be turned with his name.. He had expected others to look for him..
At least eventually.
If she wanted to catch him, she'd have to do just that. He was hurting, and he would deal with it no longer.. He wanted it to end.. After all wasnt this a good way of going out in glory? He would fight the ocean, though the ocean would win... It would still be a battle.
---
She stopped running, freezing, listening. She tilted her head back in a long, high-spirited howl that danced along treetops and weaved between clouds. She howled twice more, energy bursting around inside of her.
She wouldn't give up.
She took off once more, paws pounding the ground. She paused to sniff the earth, but she knew his scent by heart. It wouldn't matter. She would find him. She would.
She could smell the ocean as she neared it. The salt-smell made her nose twinge. Her ears swiveled back and forth, eyes darting every which way, searching for the blue-pelted wolf. She tried calling his name once more, using the full name. She knew he disliked that, but it would keep any other 'Ravens' from coming her way...or so she hoped.
----
The male was not far off now, he was getting to rockier terrain, and the rocks were more jagged, and were more gray creme than the standard dark grey.. He had always noticed that..
He heard her song, and a tear fell from his eye. He wanted nothing more than to answer her call, but maybe..maybe if he called to her..Told her that he did not want to see her...
He raised his head, howling in return, hoping it would make her turn, let her know how much he was hurting..Maybe she wouldnt go searching further.
---
Her body froze as his song echoed throughout the forest. Her brows knitted together as she took in the sorrowful sound. He had portrayed his feelings in one, sad note. He was so utterly broken and it was her fault. Tears burned her dark eyes as she threw back her head and let another cry loose. She was such a sorry creature.
Kriggertarpok forced herself to her paws and lunged into a gallop. She darted through the forests, headed towards the craggy rocks that overlooked the ocean. It was the last place she could think to look...
---
He saw her, and his eyes widened as he pushed himself into a run.. He ran straight ahead not wanting to see her, and not wanting her to catch up.
Now it was a race to the finish.
He could almost hear the ocean now.. and dammit she would not stop him..
He would not be swayed because of her guilt. He wanted to be free..
He wanted to stop hurting.
"Go away Krigger!" He growled, pushing himself hard, his muscles bunching and sweat beads dripping off his body.
---
Krigger saw him. She saw the shock and pain in his eyes. She saw the sadness lurking there, and the fact that he had given up was apparent. And when she looked ahead, she saw the end of his life. It flashed before her eyes, making her head spin and her heart clench. "Raven, please! Please stop!" she barked, darting after him. She was fast, but he had longer legs. She nipped at his flanks, pulling the skin in short, sharp yanks, begging for him to slow down.
---
He flinched, looking behind him as if he had an ankle biter on his heels and he was annoyed. He kicked out, careful not to actually hurt her, but it was enough to make him slow as he concentrated on getting her to stop biting him, rather than running.
But he was still moving forward, and her antics did nothing more than confuse him..
"What do you want now, Krigs? Havent you done enough? Havent you given me enough pain for one lifetime?" He asked, while he moved forward, eyes not looking at hers. He was slowly moving, but eventually, he would hit his destination..Regardless of speed.
---
She dodged his kicks, tugging on his tail instead and dragging her heels. With a whine, she circled him, doing laps around him. She was acting like such a child, but gods she couldn't help it. He had to stop. She wouldn't let him die. She couldn't! He couldn't!
"Raven, I talked to somebody. Somebody who lead me back to my path, back to my destiny," she said quickly, too excited to keep it slowed down. "He told me, he told me that you were The One. He said that I was just too afraid to see it! Don't you understand? You don't need to do this!"
---
He snorted a bit.. So this was her attempt to save his life.. Pity. It infuriated him.. But when she pulled his tail, and dug her heels into the earth, she was stronger than she seemed, and she actually managed to halt him.
He turned, his eyes dark..as if he was some kind of predator, that wanted nothing more than the kill..
But it was pain.. He didnt want her to see his heartbreak.. He would not cry in front of her.. He had cried over her for too long, hed be damned if he'd do it in front of her.
"Your pity is going to get you NOWHERE."He growled.
---
His words, his growl. It stung her. It made her recoil, even as he stopped. His eyes were dark, darker than she'd ever seen. He looked haunted. He looked almost...frightening. But she would not be swayed.
She lifted her lips at him, showing fang for a moment. "It's not pity, Raven-Blue," she huffed, eyes still searching him, looking for the crack to make him stop this insufferable nonsense. He would not throw himself from the cliff. Not on her watch. "I've been looking for you everywhere, Raven. Everywhere. Everywhere where we used to play. Okay? It's not pity." She stamped a foot on the stone earth. "You think I never saw those small smiles of yours? We were happy together, Raven... I want to be happy again..." She burst into tears, hanging her head.
---
His voice was soft.. He couldnt stand seeing her cry.. Not when it was he who caused it. It pulled on his heart, and he couldnt help but walk over to her and stand close enough to let her nuzzle him, should she wish to. He'd be her support while she cried..
But he was thinking of her words..
She had been the only one to make him smile..The only one to give him hope. But he had been so easily duped, that he was terrified of it happening again..
But she was telling him she wanted him back!
Without thinking, he pushed against her, taking in her warmth, as his neck stretched around her to hold her in a sort of hug..
"I was only happy with you... without you, there is no me.." He whispered, broken.
---
He made his way over, a little uncertainly, and she looked at him. She looked him up, then down, lips pulled back in a silent whine. She wanted to cling to him. She wanted to be accepted again. She wanted to be happy.
Warmth rushed through her as his body met hers. She curled into him, wiggling, tail wagging. She buried her face in his throat, in his fur, breathing him in. "We deserve to be happy," she murmured, looking out at the cliff's edge. She could almost see down it, they were so close. She shivered inwardly. If he decided to jump...she would jump after him. "I'm sorry Raven... Please forgive me..."
---
He had already forgiven her, despite his instincts.. He loved her. He wanted her. He wanted her to be *his.* And now she was..
There was no point in dying, when things were obviously better than he had once invisioned..
"Of course I forgive you.. Though I dont know that I deserve to be happy."
He chuckled a bit bitterly, but his eyes met hers, and there was a slight wag of his tail.
---
She grinned up at him, through her drying tears, tail wagging wildly. "You deserve to be happy. Everyone deserves that!" she said, pressing herself up against him. Slowly, she pushed him away from the edge, moving back towards the forest. She trotted forwards, then looked over her shoulder at him. "C'mon, Raven," she smiled. "Take me home..."
---
He looked at the ocean with one last sigh, and nodding, trailing behind her. He had given up, but now he could be okay.. He could be happy..
And he'd be with her..
He smiled, nodding a bit, before nipping her flank gently.
"Come on my darling.. Lets go home."
