I mean, yeah, I got the game from a friend. But there are supposedly a lot of errors with some of the kanji and kana. And then I wonder can you trust it? I mean, it explains it, but not as throughly as it could though.
Some Errors:
Incorrect hiragana: na mo ya yo Incorrect katakana: e ka chi ne no hi me ya wa wo In other words, about 15% of the basic kana characters are taught and/or graded wrong in this program. 14 kana have either wrong stroke order, wrong stroke direction, or wrong stroke count
I also believe I heard there were about 10 kanji that were wrong in the game too.
It bothers me. I mean, it's a game, it's supposed to teach you something. Why teach you it wrong? :/

It maybe a video game made to teach you but its still a video game there will be bugs and glitches and things that are always incorrect.

It's on DS, yes... My wife picked it up and played it for a little while; I didn't notice any glaring problems with it but I think I'm going to take a more critical look at it now that you mention this.

I have the "game" (I wouldn't really even call it that since the activities are still meant to help you learn) and though I haven't used it in awhile (been too busy to use even my better sources) I do like using it for vocab. Sure learning wrong stroke order may not be the best, but if you know which ones are wrong then you can make those a prime study focus on the side.
As for Kanji, there's books out there that teach you how to focus on writing, not necessarily reading, thousands of kanji (I have Remembering The Kanji vol. 1 which has over 2000). If you use these tools that show the proper way then you should be able to differentiate the right and wrong in the cartridge.
Me? I like using the multiple choice tests. Very helpful and tests you lightning quick if you set it to hard which I like. Say you've mastered one word and not another, it'll throw in previously mastered words at random which keeps you on your toes.
