Rain. The rain seemed almost endless, pouring down mercilessly from the dark clouds that swarmed above the dark buildings and the dark street on the dark corner where there stood a boy. His wings were unusually large for someone so young, and didn't go at all with his black and red halo. Mostly because they were demon wings.
His mismatched gaze- one eye red and the other blue- stared straight ahead as he waited for the light to turn from green to red so he could run across. He was completely soaked, his baggy black clothing hanging off of him and his sopping earflap hat an annoying weight on his head. But he didn't seem to mind. He acted as if he felt no rain, as if he were just on another of his usual walks. His mouse friend was tucked away in the water-proof bag he carried, warm and safe. This kid didn't go anywhere without that mouse.
After crossing the street, the halfbreed stopped cold. His eyes fell onto a small animal that slunk into an alley aways ahead of him. He shifted slightly before hurrying, boots squishing through puddles, to get to the animal so as to bring it home.

A small girl was tucked away in a damp box, the rain did seem to affect her, as she huddled closer to teh back of the cardboard red eyes following as a soggy peice ripped off and fell.
Her eyes caught sight of something else, a poor lost kitten. She frowned a bit, slipping out of her makeshift shelter to crawl over to the kitten. Even if her home wasn't that good she could still share it. her hands went out to the kitten, only to find another pair of hands. She gave a startled inhale lacking much noise as she fell backwards looking fearfully to the other. Her eyes looked over his features, Wings? Demon. Run-Wait... She blinked, a halo? Not a demon... What? The young blonde blinked in confusion, the rain quicly matting her normally bouncy hair to her face.

Spiro's hands jerked back after coming in contact with another pair, and his mismatched eyes locked with the red ones of the girl before him. He staggered backwards, teeth setting into his lower lip. "Umn..." He took in the state of the girl, as well as the look of fear she had and automatically adapted to it. "It's... It's okay..." Water ran down his face. "I'm not going to hurt you..."
He went to scoop up the kitten once again, drawing it close to him so as to share his body heat and try to shelter it from the rain. He placed it under his coat, "Um, well... Why are you out... In the rain?" It was normaly for someone like him, but he had never met someone going after a poor stray when it was pouring like it was now.

She relaxed a bit at his promise, watchign the kittens reaction for any alarm. The kitten liked him too... She relaxed even more, giving a curious look to him. Her small hands went up to try to whipe away some of the water and stray strands of hair as she listened. "I live..." she paused a moment, speaking softly as she pointed to the collapsing box "There..." With her last word it promptly collapsed on itself. She gave a small frown "Did.."

The boy looked at her with what seemed to be concern in his eyes, his lips pressing into a thin line as he watched the box collapse. "You can't stay here during the rain... You'll... Get sick..." His eyes turned back towards her as his mind worked over a solution, and then without a second thought he tucked the kitten under his shirt and tugged off his coat. It was little wet, but warm. It was warm, and maybe that would be enough. He moved to drop it over the girl's shoulders, "Here, take this..." He stopped for a moment, one arm going around the bulge in his shirt as if to protect it, his freehand extended towards the other halfbreed. "You can come home with me."

She blinked, givving a slight sniffle nad a confused look at him. Psh, sick? Never. The faintest of smiles was given as the sweater was dropped on her, quickly situating it around her wings so she could bundle into it. "thankyou." she muttered softly. At his next words her expression faultered, looking a bit scared. "But... Then... What if they find me..?" her wings shifted, tail curling around her leg.

His expression changed to one of complete understanding. He knew who THEY were. He probably knew better than anyone she would run into.. His hand remained extended towards her, and his voice was quiet and soft, "They won't bother you.. I won't let them near you. I promise." It was his downfall, really. His protective feelings towards those he related to- although suddenly he felt nervous. He didn't want them to come back. He didn't want everyone to figure out that he was a monster, or to hurt anymore... But he needed to help this girl. He wouldn't let them hurt anyone else.

The girl stared at him a moment, a bit confused at first. Almost unsure if she could trust him. Her expressions changed over the moments as she took it in.
Moving to take a step foreward she halted suddenlly, jerking back as if he had burnt her "No!" her eyes were suddenlly wide, staring off at apparenly nothing "Keep running. Run as fast as you can.. Run...Run!" she jolted a bit, spinning around to run from the alley way as fast as her tiny legs could carry her. Softly chanting "run" under her breath as she did so. The boy's sweater wrapped tightly around her now shaking form as she turned the corner and dissapered.

As soon as she yelled he flinched as if expecting to be struck- he wasn't really used to people raising their voice around him in a frightened or angry manner down here, so he linked it more to his past than anything. He took a staggered step back, and then watched as she ran off... He didn't go after her, that wouldn't be something someone would expect Spiro to do. Instead, he turned back to the collapsed box and moved to it. Holding the kitten close, he pulled over another folded box that was nearby and two trashcans and set up a little shelter of sorts. He knew a box wouldn't cut it against the rain, and atleast this would last... For awhile. And then he turned and began his trudge once more to home, the kitten mewling after awhile and wriggling about, growing impatient. "It's okay.. You'll be alright once we get you home... Just stay away from Alexei, okay? He doesn't like cats a lot. Right Alexei..?" He went quiet for a moment. "Yeah, I know." As if his mouse had spoken inside the bag. And then he just kept walking through the rain, a part of him worried about the girl who knew who they were.
