"Lizzie, we've been all over the island...I need a break!" whines Amapola. She takes a seat on a rock. So many emotions and thoughts and confusion about all of this mess swirl in a tumult in her head.

"Ye gods, my back is killing me," she grumbles.

"That's your own fault," says Elizabeth matter-of-factly. "And do you want me to help you find him or not?" She runs a hand through her short, dark hair. She hopes they find this character soon. She doesn't trust Kieran home alone for any length of time.

Texas leaned back on his hands and pushed his feet to the water, enjoying the feeling of the cool water against his legs on this warm day outside. While it was cool inside his house, there was something better about enjoying the air out here by himself while the good weather still lasted. After all, the clouds in the distance didn't look too friendly.

Plus, even Texas needed a break every once in a while, a break from people and the oddness of his siblings, especially Criofan lately. Something seemed to be wrong with the leprechaun with the way he refused to go outside except at night, but he wasn't willing to talk about it so Texas held back and forced himself to quell the habit of pushing too hard, at least temporarily. Yet, as he looked out into the clear waters, he couldn't help but wonder what was going on with that leprechaun...

Over the silence, Texas heard a woman complain about her back hurting her. The paternal demonic, instantly concerned, turned his attention from the wavy waters to the duo of angels that had stopped themselves nearby, apparently to give the pained woman a break. The darker angel seemed to be looking for something.

Texas decided to drop his own relaxation to offer a helping hand, always putting others' needs before his own. Plus, that woman looked like she was too miserable to keep wandering the beach... "Are you ladies looking for something?" asked Texas, as he approached both of them.

"Someone, rather," answers Elizabeth, ignoring Amapola. "A glowing yellow gentleman by the name of--what did you say his name was?" She turns to look at her sister.

"Criofan, I think. He had a shamrock stamped on his chest," she adds. She halfway hopes this man doesn't know of him. Amapola doesn't really want to talk to him about this, or even see him again really, but Elizabeth had insisted.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 23, 2009 1:38 pm

A glowing yellow gentleman? Lovely. While Texas wouldn't exactly call Criofan a gentleman, he was certainly glowing and yellow. When the black and red angel chimed in, declaring that the man had a shamrock on his chest, Texas could only shake his head. Great. So Criofan had done something incredibly stupid.

After all, Criofan never let himself be seen during his little schemes, but these girls had somehow managed to even catch his actual name. The demonic sighed, glancing over his shoulder towards his house. Should he tell them, though? Maybe Criofan had a legitimate reason for wanting to hide. It wasn't every day that the leprechaun burrowed himself into a corner.

Still, that woman seemed to be in quite a bit of back pain, and it seemed to be linked to his brother. Texas turned his attention back to the angels. "You're in luck. Criofan O'Kane happens to be my brother." But in case Criofan had a truly severe reason for hiding, he added, "I would like to know why you need to see him, though."

"Well it's kind of a long story," begins Amapola. "You see, the other night at that party--"

"It's of a deeply personal nature," interrupts Elizabeth, elbowing Amapola gently to make her shut up. Honestly, doesn't she have any sense of dignity?
PostPosted: Sun Aug 23, 2009 4:13 pm

The demonic briefly frowned at the interruption, wanting to know what exactly they wanted with his brother. Criofan tended to get himself into a lot of trouble, and it was good to know if he should warn his brother to make himself scarce. Still, these women seemed honest, and the pain the poor woman was in still bothered Texas.

Maybe it was time that Criofan had to deal with the aftermath of his problems completely on his own. Today wasn't going to be his lucky day. "I can take you to him," offered Texas, before turning around and starting towards the house in the distance. He'd still like to know the exact reason why, though, and being as curious about others' problems as he usually was, he suddenly asked, "Are you sure you can't tell me a little more?"

After a pause, he added, "It just looks like you're bothered a lot by something, and I'd like to know what I have to scold him for."

Elizabeth chuckles darkly.

Amapola shoots her sister a look as they follow the demonic to wherever he was taking them. "Well, like I said, it's a long story, and it involved rum and let's just say it's really important that I get to speak with him? Also thank you for helping us, we were really lucky to come across you!"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 23, 2009 4:28 pm

Alright, there was another piece of information. It involved rum and it happened on the night of the luau celebration. It sounded like Criofan had gotten drunk. Knowing him, he probably started a fight or had stolen something and made it obvious it was him doing the deed without his usual lucid thought. No wonder the poor girl had back pain. Texas rolled his eyes in vague bemusement, deciding that letting these people see his brother wouldn't hurt.

If anything, like Texas had thought before, the leprechaun needed to learn to deal with his problems completely on his own instead of running to hide as soon as something went wrong. "Not a problem," eventually replied the demonic, as they arrived in front of the nearby house. Texas took out a key and lightly pushed it into the keyhole before opening the door wide.

Once he set a foot inside, Texas turned around and told the duo of angels to stay put before he headed down the hallway, shouting, "CRIO! You've got some visitors!" before he disappeared into a room, searching for the elusive leprechaun...

Elizabeth looks around with a shrewd eye. "It's a nice home, Amapola," she says meaningfully.

"Will you stop!" Amapola responds, almost in a hiss. "I'm not leaving our house, and I'm not going to try and blackmail him out of anything!"

While that hadn't been what she'd meant, Elizabeth merely shrugs. She can't help but be disappointed in her younger sister. She'd always been a bit...airheaded...but usually she was able to keep her wits. It was that punch at the party the other night. Of course, Elizabeth herself had had a few drinks of her own, but that was beside the point.

Texas took a while to return, but when he did, he was dragging the glowbright leprechaun behind him by the ear. It seemed that the leprechaun hadn't wanted to come out, flailing and yelling at the demonic in irritation and completely missing who the demonic was leading him towards. It was when Texas pulled Criofan in front of him that he realized who was there.

It was the blood zebra who called herself Amapola... and a sibling. Oh gods. He thought this was over. Criofan paled, quickly moving himself back behind Texas. Texas, with a roll of his eyes, moved to the side to reveal his hiding leprechaun brother. With a deep swallow, the faerie realized that he was on his own this time.

Alright, he could do this. Maybe he could just escape with a well-placed excuse. Criofan opened his mouth, before sputtering out, "I thought we agreed to let this be!" Okay, that wasn't a well-placed excuse. That was just a whine. The leprechaun bit his lip before attempting to say something else.

"...Why are you here?"

Oh gods, worries Elizabeth internally, she isn't going to tell everything in front of everyone, is she?

"Well, I was content to let this be too. More than content. But, um...something's changed. Amapola fiddles with a strand of her hair and looks at her feet.

Guardians help me, she is, thinks Elizabeth, running a hand through her hair again to avoid smacking the heel of her palm to her forehead in exasperation.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 23, 2009 7:00 pm

The perseptive Texas glanced over to the black and yellow angel and knit his brows in mild confusion. Why did she look so nervous? If this was just about a stupid bar fight incident...

...What did Criofan mean by letting it be? Maybe this wasn't quite what he thought. But Criofan wasn't the type for that stuff, was he?

Something changed? Criofan would have became paler if at all possible. The leprechaun couldn't help wondering what the hell could have possibly happened to make her break their agreement to never speak of the situation again. The fact that she was being so slow with the reveal wasn't helping.

The faerie made a circular motion with his right hand in an attempt to get her to hurry up. "Well?" asked Criofan, a hint of unusual nervousness creeping into the normally flat voice. Texas was a little surprised; Criofan hadn't been quite this animated in a very long time. "Out with it, Blood Zebra!" He ended up sounding more rude than nervous with the way he snapped at her, but either way it was obvious that he wanted a quick and straight answer.

Amapola had been rehearsing in her head how to soften the news that would undoubtedly be received poorly. But Criofan's incessant prodding and Elizabeth's frustrated sighs make it impossible for her to think.

She puts a hand to her forehead, trying to block out everyone else, but finally she just blurts it out: "I'm expecting."

Elizabeth sighs a sigh of...is it relief or exasperation? Either way, it was done. Whatever happened next was up to this man of questionable character in Elizabeth's opinion. His brother seemed reasonable enough. She sighs again. Oh, Amapola, why do you always fall for the terrible ones?
PostPosted: Mon Aug 24, 2009 10:38 am

Texas reeled. That was one comment he wasn't expecting; alcohol could do funny things to a person, but he always thought Criofan was smarter than that. Before he started to internally debate, though, Criofan practically screeched and Texas had to all but dash to hold the suddenly outraged leprechaun back.

"I'LL KILL YOU!" roared Criofan, attempting to thrash away from Texas. Texas hooked his arms around Criofan's and yanked them behind his back, preventing the leprechaun from moving forward or doing much else but kick in her direction. "That'll solve the problem right fast!" When he dashed forward to do so, though, he only ended up running in place and flopping backwards. How could his brother do this?! He turned around to Texas and snarled, "Lemme go!"

Texas narrowed his eyes, but otherwise looked fairly calm despite all of Criofan's thrashing. He stood his ground, responding, "No, Criofan. Not until you calm down." Texas would pat himself on the back for keeping a level-head, but later. For now, he needed to stop Criofan from jumping the poor pregnant woman.

Elizabeth stiffens, ready to jump into a fray if one broke out. She isn't much of a fighter, but she's not a small woman and could probably hold the faerie until someone else hit him.

Confident in his brother's ability to hold him, Amapola launches into a tirade of her own. "Look, you stupid, ill-mannered pig! I don't want or need anything from you! I just thought it would be decent of me to tell you! Augh!" She runs her hand through her hair, her own anger returning. "I'll be going now! Don't want the baby to be raised by an ABSOLUTE CHILD."

Elizabeth manages to suppress laughter. She'd called Amapola the same thing--an absolute child--when she'd pitched her little conniption back home.
