This particular thread revolves around Kaiba Seto/Seto Kaiba, the main rival of Yami no Yuugi.

I will post my opinions first in a form format, so you can either choose to copy and use the format, or make up your own.
Basic Opinion/What You Answered in the Poll: I love Kaiba Seto quite a lot. ^^
Why You Hold That Opinion: [SPOILER WARNING] Kaiba Seto is a total a*****e. There's no denying that. But he's just that a*****e you can't help but love, like Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z. XD;;
Honestly, if the man existed in real life, he would probably piss me off to no end, but as an anime character, his arrogant, selfish, and p***k-like personality just make him interesting and fun to watch.
And he balances the a*****e personality really well. Kaiba is cool enough where he doesn't seem lame for how rude and arrogant he acts, but also not so epically awesome that he seems over-powered or god-modey. He wins most often, and therefore earns his arrogance in a sense, yet he still loses to some characters, and that helps keep him in his place, even though he is able to lose gracefully. (well, sort of... XD;; he pretty much throws the cool sexy equivalent to a temper tantrum when he loses)
Kaiba is the guy who isn't perfect, but comes pretty damn close, at least in the things he wants to be perfect in. What I also like is that he doesn't aspire to please anyone; he chooses what he wants in his life and goes for it, not caring what anyone else things, and accepts nothing less than being amazing at what he aspires in.
Plus you just gotta give Kaiba some extra points for being sexy, cool, rich, intelligent, and athletic all at the same time, and then throwing in gravity-defying trench coats just for good measure.
Finally, Kaiba is definitely my favorite character to mock in the series. I love him to pieces, but he just makes it so easy with how cool he always tries to be, that if you just imagine him doing anything remotely uncool (like tripping or something) it's hilarious. XD He's just a blast to poke fun at, and that adds more points to my love-o meter for the guy.
Plus he's not as goody-goody as most of the characters. He's selfish, but not evil. An anti-hero. I've always been fond of anti-heroes, as they're generally the most realistic characters, and often the most interesting as well.
Favorite Characters to Pair With: Jounouchi Katsuya, Isis Ishtar, Kisara, Mutou Yuugi, Honda Hiroto, Yami no Bakura, Kaiba Mokuba, Kujaku Mai, Pegasus J. Crawford, Otogi Ryuuji.
Rating of Favoriteness: Third favorite.

Basic Opinion/What You Answered in the Poll: I'm on neutral grounds with him.
Why You Hold That Opinion: [LIGHT SPOILERS] As Kitsune said, he's an a*****e. But he IS that kind of a*****e you can't tear your eyes away from, whether you're a fan or not. He has an arrogant style of exsisting; he can act like he think he's better than everyone, while still being stoic. He won't show mercy to anyone during a duel, and certiantly not after. You can watch an episode or read a chapter about him, and you can just keep watching/reading, unlike with some other characters. During the Doma Arc, I found that to bring out a side of Seto I liked. Of course, he never got on my top 10, but when he 'died' when tag teaming with Yuugi against Dartz, I saw the side of him willing to sacrifice his life for Yuugi and his friends, even though he vowed to never treat Yuugi with respect outside a battle. The Noa Arc also brought out another side of him, when Mokuba was under mind control; he really, really cares for Mokuba, even if sometimes he won't show that. He was determind to save his brother from his step brother, no matter what. And the comedic rivalry between him and Jounouchi is nice, him managing to piss off Jou all the time, no mater what he did.
Favorite Characters to Pair With: Otogi, Isis, Kisara, Mai, Pegasus, Amelda, Dartz, Seigfried, Haga (One-sided admiration).
Rating of Favoriteness: Not on my top 10, but a favourite.

Why You Hold That Opinion: [LIGHT SPOILERS] Like everyone else's said, he's an a*****e, but the kind that I can tolerate... which is possibly helped by the fact that he's an anime character.
He's so easy to mock, and no matter how well he tries to hide it, he does care about people. He even threw the key to Jounouchi in Battle City after he got dragged into the bay in Malik's twisted Saw-ish-esque duel, but that might have just been because he got his answer from Yami Yuugi...
Plus, even if someone doesn't like him, they absolutly have to love his trenchcoats, just because they're awesome... Yeah XD
Favorite Characters to Pair With: Yami no Bakura, Mokuba, Ishizu Ishtar, Jounouchi (every once in a while), possibly others.
Rating of favritness: He's not in my top five, but possibly in my top ten... razz

Heehee, Kaiba is just such a fun character, even if not a favorite. XD I loved the little other sides of him that it would occasionally show, like you two talked about.
Some other parts like that were like that brief moment where Honda was carrying Jounouchi's soulless body in Doma, and almost dropped him, and Kaiba ended up catching him and steadying him back on Honda's back. ^^ <3 He had no reason to do that; it wasn't his concern if Jounouchi fell and had his body torn apart, or if Honda went back for him and got into trouble, but he did it anyway. Also in Battle City, he tried his hardest to save Anzu during Yuugi's and Jounouchi's death duel.
As for the part where he threw the key into the ocean, as much as I was fangirling over that and saying Kaiba saved Jounouchi's life, in retrospect, it was kind of retarded, considering the key could've easily dropped down to the ocean floor, too far away for Jounouchi to grab or notice, or Jounouchi could've also already been blacked out by that point (which I think Kaiba was testing anyway). Then it would be lost in the sand, too hard for anyone to find, and probably too deep to swim down to in the first place, making Kaiba Jounouchi's killer, instead of his savior, since now no one could swim down and save him. XD;; I thought it made more sense how Shizuka saved him in the anime, but I still would've preferred if it was Kaiba. >_>;;

I liked Kaiba's saving of Jounouchi too much to care XD
And I don't remember any of that stuff from Doma... I want to go back and watch it really badly, but I have an a** load of school stuff, and everytime I try to watch it, I get nostalgic for the Egyptian arcs...
And even if you hate Kaiba, you still have to love him... it's the law... :3

Yeah, it was pretty hilarious, his epic 'saving' methods. And then Jounouchi got all flustered and said under his breath that he owed Kaiba, even though he hated to admit it. XD
Oh, you need to watch Doma again then. D: It's such a good arc, and has way more pairing hints than most other arcs.

Yeah... still not sure what Kaiba's motives were for throwing the key in... Maybe he felt like he owed Yami Yuugi and group for giving him "the answer"?
I know, and I love Doma! I really really do! But whenever I try to watch it, for whatever reason, I can't D: My brain doesn't want to let me... but one day... one day... I shall... and if I don't, I'll... do something about it XD

I think that KitsuneChan pretty much summed up my reason for me. (It's so weird how much we think alike. >>)
I like to pair him with Jounouchi as a joke, but the only pairing that I can really see him in is maybe with Isis. xD;;
He's my #1 favorite Yuugiou character. =3

I believe Kaiba did mention as he was throwing the key in that he wondered if Jounouchi was still conscious under water. Yes, the manga (Shonen Jump's English version) says, "Mheh heh heh... I wonder how long a little fish like him can hold his breath... He must be at his limit by now..." as he drops the key in. If anything, it sounds like Kaiba's trying to kill Jounouchi, but then when people blame him for it, he could just say he was giving him the key. XD;;;
Haha, we really do seem to share a lot in character opinions, don't we Kitsune Warrior? XD

The Shonen Jump English version seems to love giving YUU*GI*OU characters weird laughs... like the "H-hah hah hah!" for Yami no Bakura and "Mheh heh" for Kaiba. It just sounds dumb when you think it in your head. XD I think Malik has a weird one too, but I don't remember so well.

XP I always hated the laughs that were in the Yuugiou manga. >> I mean, how am I supposed to take Seto seriously if he's always going, "Mheh heh heh"? It just sounds lame. D;

Yes, yes... then and their silly laughs... I was talking to one of my friends about it, and she says that it happens often in manga, but that it makes that sound moronic -.-; We agreed on that...
YB's: has every type of moronic laugh... he laughs in a few different ways, but he always does that little moronic thing-y...
