((Takes place before this RP.))

User ImageSkugga knew the outskirts of Mizimu'Tungika like the back of her paw by now, but sneaking around too close was still dangerous at best. Sure, she was in better shape than she had been when she ran away as a Sacrifice, and she knew how to take down (or at least injure) an opponent. But the trouble was, if she was found here she would most likely not be fighting against just one warrior or scout. She knew it would just take one call for reinforcements to send several lions rushing towards the intruder. After that it would only be a matter of time before she would have to run or fight for her life.

No, skulking around in the backyard of the Mizimu was not safe at all, and still she did it. Why? She didn't want to die, that wasn't it. She sniffed the air, taking in the eerily familiar scents and deciding that it was safe enough to leave cover. Sighing, she left her hiding place and started to carefully make her way back towards the Dhati, moving erratically and keeping hidden as much as possible to throw off any followers. She had already left the area that might be patrolled and started to relax a little when she suddenly caught a whiff of a lion in front of her. The wind had been in her back, and she hadn't heard, seen or smelled him coming. Oh, ********, and he was a lot bigger than her too. It was too late to turn back now because he would surely notice her any minute if he hadn't felt her scent already. She could only hope that this male, a Mizimu warrior from the looks of it, wouldn't recognise her as what she was.

Jelani had been on edge ever since she had left... and he let her go. He refused to even think her name as he was sure the spirits would punish him for allowing her to leave, to join those rebels. He let out a soft sigh as he walked around the borders. This was his way to make up for it.

He had spent most of his time patrolling since she had gone, for two reasons, one to make sure no one else left and two to see if she came back. He didn't expect her to though. It had taken him a while and before he realised she wanted to join them and not infiltrate them like she had told him. It would have been obvious if it wasn't for the fact that he wanted to spend the night with every female he came across.

As he walked around the pride he raised his head to sniff before looking around and it wasn't long before he caught the scent of the rebels. Some were fainter then others. He didn't however expect to see the female that he assumed was one of theirs. She would have been a sacrifice if she belonged to the pride and he hadn't seen her before, then again she could be a rogue, she was really pretty after all.

He had seen her? He must have seen her, right? He couldn't not have seen her. Skugga's instincts screamed at her to run, but the dark male was standing between her and her home. With a little luck he'd let her pass without a fight, but if she started to act suspiciously she would surely be attacked.

Deciding that it would be worse for her to try to run or try to hide, she kept walking, holding her head high and only changing her direction slightly so she wouldn't get much closer to him than this. I'm just a rogue, juuust a rogue who have strayed too close to inhabited lands.

"Why what a beautiful thing we have here." He smirked a little as he walked towards the female. She didn't seem against the pride in fact her body language seemed a little submissive but then maybe he was hoping too much.

"So whats your name and where are you from?" He was serious for a minute as he had to be. If she was one of them he would have to attack her. Maybe even drag her in to the pride but he was hoping she wasn't and he didn't know her and hadn't seen her about and so he was content in believing she was a rogue, at least until she said otherwise.

"What are you doing on our borders?"

Oh, crap. Crap, crap, crap. Of course he had to approach her. What should she tell him? Oh, hello. I'm just one of the rebels following your pride around, please let me go so I can keep plotting your ultimate destruction. No, that would not go down well. She had to lie, at least a little bit.

"Oh, I'm sorry," she said, and forced herself to smile at him, "I didn't know I was close to someone's borders... I'll leave at once."

She could play dumb, she could do this. Skugga was nervous, and she was pretty sure it showed. But wouldn't a rogue who had wandered too close to a pride by accident be nervous too?

He went a little closer to her and sniffed her though he hadn't met another of the rebels so he wouldn't know whether she was one of them or part of a band of travelers but she did smell of other lions.

"You smell of others. How can I believe you?" He really did want to believe her but of course his pride came first. She was gorgeous though, so pretty. A sacrifice if she had been part of his pride but it didn't matter she was female.

If he could determine whether she was good or not he would be able to either enjoy himself with her or drag her in to the pride. He would rather have his way with her but of course sometimes he couldn't get what he wanted.

Wasn't he getting a little personal with all this sniffing? She didn't like the almost hungry looks the Mizimu scum seemed to give her. Oh, to be able to wipe that smug expression off his face, but she knew better than to attack a larger lion like this. She would probably be able to damage him, at least to some extent, but if she got herself injured she would be less useful when they launched their main attacks on the Mizimu. It wasn't worth it.

"Oh," she squeaked, "Of course I do. I travel with my family. It's dangerous to travel alone these days. But you look strong, I'm sure you could make it on your own if you wanted."

Okay, the last part might be pushing it. But she still felt fairly confident with the rest of her not-quite-lies. The Dhati was her family now, as far as she was concerned. There was nothing left for her in the Mizimu anymore. But she better ask something about him so she didn't accidentally said something she shouldn't know.

"Um... So who are you?" she asked, "And do a lot of lions live here?"

He wasn't sure how to act. After all she was a pretty girl and could easily be telling the truth but then again there was nothing to say that the rebels weren't good liers.

He watched her carefully deciding not to answer her question.

"It's a pride. Where do you come from?" Simple questions. She had to have come from somewhere, even if she was a rogue, she was still born somewhere.

"Do you have a name?"

She huffed as he refused to tell her his name. Not that she really cared about this Mizimu scum, but he was being a lot ruder than necessary.

"I... uh..." she started, "I'm not sure where I was born. My family tend to wander. It's what we do."

It wasn't really a lie. She wasn't sure in which den she was born since she had spent most of her early life with Minders. And from her limited experience with lying she knew that once she started to embellish too much she would get all tangled up. Better to keep it simple, right? And perhaps try to change the subject.

"I'm... S.. Shadow. You can call me Shadow."

Close call. Really close call. Skugga had just narrowly avoided giving her real name, and it was a stupid lie since her name meant Shadow. The male had not offered his own name so she did her best to memorize his appearance just in case. Dark pelt like most Mizimu lions. Rather characteristic stripes. Strong spirit. Strong body. Then she realised she must be staring and quickly looked away.

"I... Err... Sorry."

He flicked his tail and tilted his head a little as he listened. It was possible she was telling the truth. Shadow? He hadn't heard a name like that before but if thats what she was called, maybe she had come from a bad background.

"Well Shadow you shouldn't be lurking around here, there is a pride near and some rogues, dangerous to a thing like you." He smirked as he spoke and noticed her staring at him. Well he knew that he was good looking, what beautiful female wouldn't want something to do with him?

"You can stay a while if you wish though I am not permitted to allow you in the prides lands but as I said it isn't safe." He would like to have her, she was a pretty thing and he shouldn't really let her go either. She was really pretty...

If Skugga had known what the Warrior was thinking she would have been furious, so it was a good thing she wasn't a mind reader. He had been nice enough, she supposed, if a bit stupid for trusting her. Not that she minded. But he was the enemy and the longer she stayed here, the greater the danger of discovery. And she could recognise a dismissal when she heard one. It didn't sound as if the lion wanted her to stick around even if he had offered her to stay.

"Thank you," she said, trying to sound genuinely grateful and giving him a tight lipped smile, "I appreciate your concern for my safety, but I will not lurk here much longer. I should go back and tell my family what you told me so we can get out of the danger zone as soon as possible."

She turned away from Mizimu territory, and started walking painfully slowly. It would be best not to head directly back, for obvious reasons, so she walked in a direction that would not lead any followers to the Dhati camp.

"Good bye," Skugga said, resisting the urge to run, "See you later perhaps, unless we move out immediately."

Jelani's tail flicked behind him as he nodded and then watched her leave. He was slightly uneasy and so he didn't hang about, once he was sure she was on her way he headed back in to the pridal lands. If she had lied she was bound to run into another patrol the direction she was headed and so Jelani returned to see if there was any food without caring that he had let her leave.
