Well yeah I know theres a weapon one some where in the guild, Buuuuuuutttt this aint that.
I figured make this so people can learn what you use. As well as, see if they want to get into that weapon. So like a way to give tips. Or post stuff you found out about a weapon that you think no one else may know, that may just save their asses from a kirin zap or something like that.
So heres what you do.
Post YOUR favorite weapon type(s)
and than post the weapons of those types that you use.
Its a pretty simple concept if you ask me.
I thought of doing this btw, because I noticed a lot of people use only one weapon, be it great sword long sword hammer or what ever. I think Hunters should use a more array and varieties of weapons. But thats me.

I usually use bows most of them time.
I do however use every weapon type except gunlances, I have yet to get hunting horns and regular lances but plan to after I finish upgrading my current armory of weapons

So Bows usually work best when your decently close, this allows you to see their attacks coming and dodge roll while keeping the bow out. This lets you Keep a constant rain of fire on the monster. Also for really big monsters stay completely to their side, like gravios, akantor, etc.. smaller monsters you can be more in front of their face to get peirces down their body. Watch out for attacks like the khezu's though where the thunder shot spreads. Same tactic for LB and HB.

Hammers just learn to predict attacks and movement to hit the face as much as possible. This way you can start an attack that lands on the monster as they turn towards you, this makes up for the slow swings of the hammer.

Duals Demon Dance allows you to cut regardless of sharpness, however if your sharpness is below green you will only do half as much hits. You only want to do this however at specific times, if you demon dance all the time you'll get hit a lot and most likely die.

Sns are good for quick blocking and using items at a moments notice, no need to put away the weapon.

LS has no real strategy, just slice and roll. Choose opportune moments to unleash soul dance and it generally works out.
That's about what I kind of learned so far, I don't use the other weapons enough to give any specific general tips.

I own one of each, but primarily fight with SnS, because it's always been my favorite, well balanced and I like being able to be quick and have defense.

If I need to be purely offensive, then I usually go Longsword, the only time I've been GS, was Monster Hunter & Freedom. 3nodding

I use GS, LS, DB, SnS, and bows. I would say though that my main are GS. I use to have LS as my main, but I have seen that way to many people use them.

I use lots of different weapons:

Gunlance: Gun Chariot

Awesome weapon with good shelling ability and high Dragon damage.

Longsword: Scythe of Malice

I'm pretty sure they changed the name in Unite. Anyway, good attack, and good poison.

Bow: Blue Blade Bow 2

High attack, piercing bow.

Light Bowgun: Uranos Grenade

Great attack Bowgun that takes high level shells, and rapid-fires Flaming S.

Hammer: Juggernaut

High attack, high sharpness, heavy hitting hammer. This owns.

I totally agree with that! i like using GS not olny I get to nock down monsters with a great smash but I get to fling other hunters! lol xd

my main is GS, i havent rilly mastered everything since the first game sweatdrop

See its things like that, that make people not want to play with you. We kicked a dude out of our guild because all he would do was hit us with his hammers(namely me.) So Eventually he promised not to do it anymore, we let him back in. two weeks later he gets his psp stolen. anyway Morale of the story. Don't send people flying just because you can during a quest.
