Rory lay on his bed, head and back propped up with pillows, reading a book. His long legs were stretched out and crossed at the ankles, the very picture of relaxed. He'd gotten the horses taken care of earlier than expected and was rewarding himself with a bit of time spent catching up on a bit of reading, particularly the old science fiction book he was currently engrossed in.

Lee quickly walked through the camps, nervously tugging on her dress with each step. She'd just barely convinced herself to visit Rory today, having opted out for the past few days since meeting him. It took nearly everything in her not to turn around and head back home as his vardo was in sight. She'd attempted to look extra nice before she left, curling her hair in soft waves and putting a bit of lip balm on, as well as her ever-present mascara. She didn't look like she was trying too hard, did she? Shaking her head and trying to ignore her worries, she managed to Rory's open door.
Not sure how to go about it --should she knock? Walk in? Say hello and wait? -- Lee poked just her head in to find him relaxing on his bed. "Hey..."

The boy flinched a little at the voice, not having expected anyone to show up at his door. He closed the book, marking his place with his finger between the pages, and sat up, a shy smile at his lips. "Oi, Lee. I didnae expect you, or anyone really, t' be callin' on me." He dog-eared one of the pages before closing the book and setting it aside. Not quite meeting her eyes, he blushed a little as he stood up and made his way to a small dresser to get a t-shirt and cover his bare torso up.

"Hope you dun mind if I come in..." Stepping inside, a deep blush covered her cheeks when she realized Rory had no shirt. As she turned her face away from embarrassment, she couldn't help but notice scars on Rory's back. Blinking a few times, she looked again to confirm it. Yep, those were scars. Stepping forward, a hand came to her mouth before she asked in almost a whisper, "What're these from?" Wait, what was she asking? That was way too personal... "Eh, I'm sorry! Forget I asked..."

"Eh?" Rory looked back at her, tugging his shirt on, then realized what she was asking about. "Oh. Th' scars are very old. Me dam an' me were out in th' city one day when I wis just a boy. This man accused me o' stealin' from his fruit stand. Me dam wis no where near, as I'd wondered away on me own, so th' man an' some other men held me down, ripped me shirt open and whipped me. I wis lucky tha' an officer happened past. Didikai or nae, th' officer wasnae about t' let a bunch o' grown men beat a child t' death." He shrugged a bit, sitting back down on the bed. "Th' men were charged, but nothin' came o' it. I didnae die, but I live wi' th' proof tha' most outsiders donnae like or trust us."

Lee's eyes widened as she listened to Rory speak, unconsciously stepping closer and closing the small gap between them. Biting her lip, she gazed up at him with concern. "I-I'm sorry..." She was, or at least had been an outsider, right? And after almost being killed by such people, he still had it in him to like her. She wasn't sure if it still had a big impact on him, but Lee had never felt a greater desire to help someone, and had never felt more frustrated that she couldn't. "I've been a bother, huh? I'm sorry, I should prolly go..." Not only had she barged into his home, but she'd pried into his past.

"Ne'er a bother, lass," Rory said, reaching out to take her hand. "You'd hae seen them some time or other. Now th' story is out o' th' way, yeah?" He gave a slight tug to pull her back closer. "Look. I know what you were an' I know what you are. You ain't anything like those men tha' hurt me. They were ignorant an' close-minded. You're different, special, and you're here. What happened t' me wis a long time ago. I barely remember it save a few bad dreams from time t' time. Donnae worry on it so. I ne'er do."

Only slightly relieved, Lee stepped back toward Rory, never happier to be tugged closer to someone. She didn't think she was special, she just wasn't intolerant. Ignorance was what it took to be a normal outsider? Lee looked up at him sheepishly, biting her lip and nodding. She desperately hoped he wasn't just saying he wasn't bothered by it. Standing on her toes, she managed to give the boy a small kiss on the cheek, her own cheeks red as her heels touched the ground again. "Alright." She wasn't going to talk about his scars again unless he did.

The boy gave a small laugh at the kiss, though he blushed as well. "You worry too much, girl." He licked his lips, trying to think of something to say. "Were you comin' o'er t' study some fae school?"

He was right; she did worry too much. "Eh, actually I just came over to say 'hi'." Her shoulders hunched forward and her feet shuffled a bit, Lee's eyes avoided his. "But I guess I prolly should study..." Rory likely had no idea how anti-study Lee was, and how difficult it would be to keep her on track.

Biting her lip, Lee glanced to the side, both relieved and distraught at once. Talk about herself... perhaps this would be just as difficult as studying. "Whadda you wanna know?"

Tugging at her dress, Lee followed quickly behind Rory, sitting by his side and sighing, thinking of what to say or ask. "Well... I like art." She shrugged, not sure if that was the sort of thing he was wanting to know. At least that was a start.
