Makail looked over his shoulder as he left his lands to presumably 'hunt'. In all truth, the young king needed a breather, and time away from these nagging 'duties' that he tride to shirk off at any given opportunity.

He was too young for this, He might have looked like an adult, but mentally he was still at that 'rebelious teen' stage. He often complained to himself about why he had to be an only child, or why his father had to die and leave him as the king of a pride where duty and justice was everything. It just wasn't FAIR!
Needless to say, he wasn't being much of a king.

Well, unbeknownst to him, things were going to have to change.

Finally...the mortal realm, the large god stretched his wings before folding them against his back and closing his eyes. This was bound to be an interesting experience, he tried to cast an illusion over his appearance to make himself appear more mortal. He could barely remember how and only managed to fade away the appearance of his wings and scales. It seemed he would need more lessons from the sweet and accommodating Teuli.

Dark blue eyes narrowed and he slowly smiled relaxing as he headed towards a distant shape. What good fortune, it seemed there was a new king ahead, he looked young. Anupu had always liked to befriend royal mortals and offer them protection and guidance. He would just need to remember to keep his emotions at bay, he couldn't get too involved or impassioned over a family or he would end up once again regretting it when they inevitably passed.

He kept the smile as the shape became clearer and he made out the pale features of the new king. Sadly he couldn't seem to remember how to access his old memories or powers, which was probably best for the moment...fresh start and all.

Soon the image of his large rocky kingdom was but a blur. Makail then allowed his paws to stop their rapid,...retreat. He heaved a relieved sigh. It was then, looking around, that he spotted another. He was somewhat supprised, but then remembered that he was in the rogue lands after all. And, better yet, they didn't appear to be one of his pride members!
Ah! Someone to talk to who WOULDN'T nag him about this and that, about getting a queen, and his light, half hearted, punishments, etc.

Makail smiled, and issued a pleasant greeting as he walked casually towards to figure, not once stopping to think if perhaps they were of an unfriendly sorts.

"Hello there!"
PostPosted: Fri Aug 21, 2009 3:14 pm

Anupu was mildly taken aback by the casual greeting before reminding himself that things were different all over. Besides if his illusion was holding up the mortal couldn't see his wings or scales and he himself appeared normal instead of divine. He moved closer before sitting down and smiling.

"Greetings, I am Anupu G-" He stopped himself deciding to leave off with formalities and let the other male tell him his title himself. "Might I know your name?" His tail flicked out and he glanced at it surprised to realize he hadn't cast an illusion over the golden dragon tip, he quickly did so making his tail appear tuffed with fur to match his mane.

Thankfully this lion, Anupu, was seemingly of good character, for Makail's sake! Makail was not the best judge of character,..or judge period, which made his job all the more difficult.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Anupu! My name is Makail," He paused, debating whether to share his own title. It was thing he though he saw the tip of the lion's tail change from gold to black, like his mane. He quickly shook his head, dissmissing it as a trick of the setting sun. "The new kning of the Refilwe'Oluchi pride." His smile turned to a somewhat embittered one.

"So what brings you all the way out here?" There were many reasons. Makail just hoped it wasn't to employ their forces. Sigh. That always meant more work for him.

Anupu grinned as Makail gave him his name, and better yet a royal title. Of course the male didn't quite look very kingly, but perhaps he had just begun to rule and had yet to learn the more finite traits that would help him. At least he looked somewhat confident, he wished he had thought to travel with his brother Primitus was normally a better judge of character at first glance. Still Primitus would also probably dare to claim that anyone could lead if they had the temperament and inclination, which Anupu wholeheartedly disagreed with. Such a skill was bred into the royal lines and passed on like a mighty torch, and it was his job to make sure none of the royal blooded ones ever dropped that torch into the gutters of life.

"New King hmm? You shouldn't be so far from your pride, many target royalty in an attempt to take over you know...but I'm sure you have heirs aplenty, still no reason to risk your neck." He chuckled and shook his head.

"I've traveled about...in search of new duties and those in need of my protection." The answer was honest enough without revealing any unnecessary details.

Makail scoffed - "No heirs. A queen is just one of many things the pride is nagging me about." He rolled his eyes. "I'm too young for that anyway."

Well, he had also thought he was too young to be king. Well, in a way he was - he was old enough for the title, but his mentality was seemingly far off.

"New duties? I just want some relief for mine!"
PostPosted: Fri Aug 21, 2009 4:40 pm

"Nagging?" Anupu tilted his head his smile slowly fading away.
"Your pride shouldn't nag you..." He murmured before adding firmly. "You shouldn't need to be reminded of such important duties." It seemed he had managed to come to the perfect place, if Makail didn't get a talking to who knew what would happen to this royal line.

"Now see here, you have great responsibilities to fullfill, that is your birthright, NOT your birthchoice. Relief should come form a job well done, don't you consider what could happen to your pride if you fail them? How your entire lineage could die out if something happened to you?" His eyes narrowed and for a moment he was so focused on the new king before him that his illusion started to shimmer and fade.

"The elders seem to know how the place is supposed to be running, why not let them do it?" Makail gave a small huff. "Besides, even when I do try, it's not enough for them! After all, I'm not my father. Those old coots are so used to how he reigned oh so perfectly, that there's no way I can measure up! Father never really taught me how to do anything."

Makail was too buisy ranting to notice, at first, the change in the lion before him.

"I'm young! There are still things I wanna do with my life before I'm tied down to one single duty! an-" Finally he noticed. "Just what are you?" He backed away slightly.

Well NOW that was irritating, he had never had to convince a member of royalty how lucky they were, normally he just offered advice, protection, helped to find a consort or arrange a marriage to keep the lineage well. Things had changed an awful lot if a king didn't even want his throne. With all that on his mind he completely allowed the illusion to slip away. Hmm...Teuli wouldn't be proud of how easily that had happened, still at least he had managed a little while it wasn't so bad.

"It is NOT the elders duty! they may advise you, but it is your royal blood that gives you the divine right to rule!" His tone was harsher now his eyes narrowing dangerously as a growl entered his voice.

He advanced on the male as he backed away and spread his wings. "I am the God of the Royal Blooded, my duty is to protect and aid you and other royals...and you should be glad that I do not feel about my duties as you feel for yours."

Makail might have been backing away, but that didn't stop him from retaliating.

"Hey, I'm been trying, but their the ones not cutting me any slack! They expect me to be the spitting image of my dad, but I'm not! When dad was still alive, I looked foward to it! I thought I'd have plenty of time to learn the ropes, but dad never taught me 'like he should have,' quoth the elders! When he died so suddenly, I did what I had to, and all I got was a 'that's not right! You're not doing this right, that's not good enough!"
The venting continued, much needed as it was.

"They don't do one thing to encourage me! Even when I do do something right, they keep their stern faces, and then just go on without a word! It's like they want to put me down every chance they get!"
PostPosted: Fri Aug 21, 2009 5:33 pm

"And they probably do! Don't you see how they envy you? They know that you'll come into your own and then they won't have the control to tell you what to do, because your right is to make the choices YOU feel are best for your pride." Anupu growled advancing still on him.

"You have to rise to the challenge not run from it, and damn what the rest of them think. You think your father never made any mistakes? Everyone makes them, some of us just learn to cover them up better then others." His tail lashed in anger and frustration, he wanted calm slowly and stopped his advance.

Perhaps it wasn't Makail's fault, he was still young after all...and perhaps his father hadn't had the time to teach him proper. That was something he could help with of course, yet he was reluctant. Did he want to help the new king? What if he became attached? What if he actually cared? Worse...what if something happened to Makail? You can't avoid your duties forever, for fear of your own feelings...and this one truly needs your aid. He thought to himself with a mild frown.

"They make me so mad, that I want to be rid of them," makail finally admitted. So one, though, had ever been exiled from the pride. It wasn't in their nature. The pride had been blessed with the duty to bring justice to the world, though,..and how could they do that when the king was at war with his judges?

"I fear what would happen if I do, though,..."

And there ws a great many things that could happen! The pride could rebel! And how would he choose new judges to take their place? What if he made the wrong choices? What if the pride fell apart, and it was all because of his decision to appoint someone new to the rank of Elohim?

It was perhaps the first serious, dutiful, thought the young king had made.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 21, 2009 5:48 pm

Anupu could feel the stirrings of sympathy for the young king, he really did sound like he had just been trying to escape a pressure he hadn't been properly prepared for. Still, that was no excuse not to turn around and grab the problem by the proverbial horns.

"You must be firm, they must know that your will is above their petty concerns and desires...and they must learn to trust your choices. In turn you should hear out their advice and remind them that you won't tolerate overly harsh critique, especially not comparing you to your father...especially if he didn't even leave you properly equipped to deal with current issues." Anupu sighed softly and watched Makal for a long moment.

"I could...keep an eye on you...and offer help or advice if you feel you need it." There, he had offered himself...a distant memory rose another king in another pride and time...watching his heirs grow and his death, their rise, the cycle repeated over and over until at last one fell without an heir leaving the royal line dead. The memory was too painful, he pushed it away and held back a growl as his chest tightened. Not this time...he wouldn't fail a line again.

Makail sighed, and flopped back onto his rear, tired of fighting and pressure. He looked off to the side, and let the god issue his advice. Being a god, you think Makail would have avidly been listening, and vowing to take the advice to heart,...but Makail was Makail, and having been a privilaged only child, was spoiled, which was part of his problem, though he wouldn't admit it.

Makail, since his father's death had felt alone. It was then when the god offered to keep an eye on him, that he looked back with bright ocean-blue eyes.
"Really? Please,..I've been so alone since my father passed."
