Manning, unhappy with last week's performance and his lack of playing time in a 13-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, lobbied for more action Thursday and delivered a masterful performance. He drove the Colts 81 yards for a touchdown on their first series, threw a 76-yard TD pass to Reggie Wayne and finished 10 of 14 for 167 yards in less than 11 minutes. Aside from the Eagles' first scoring play -- a perfect 39-yard touchdown pass from Donovan McNabb to DeSean Jackson, who split two defenders down the middle of the field to make it 14-7 -- little went right.

IndianapolisColtsFan Preseason is an important corner-stone in the NFL season.. You get ready and prepare for the regular season. Preseason is a time for showing the coaches how well you can play against other teams. Its a time for ready plays on defense, and doing plays on offense, and if you mess up on either one of those- its a time to learn from your mistakes. Preseason is also a time to watch other teams and see how they are doing this season, and showing other teams how your team is different from last season.
Yes, preseason is important. But the Wins and Losses aren't. Edit:: Back on topic- Yea, Manning looked pretty good out there. Lets hope the Eagles Defense gets better before they season, or they are screwed.

I do not put much stock into preseason, past evaluating young players late in games, because teams do not really gameplan and the starters rarely play and very few play their hardest but Manning did look fantastic. His footwork looked good, meaning his leg is fully healed, and he looked very accurate. He was also getting rid of the ball quickly to make up for how bad the Colts offensive line is.

Preseason depends on what you are looking for when you watch it, if you are looking for one guy to see if he is doing ok (rookies and people coming off injuries and such) then preseason may be really important, but to see a team as a whole, it can be very tricky to know how many people are actually playing or just giving half effort.
I still love preseason because it is the best thing on TV since the Probowl the year before.
I've been watching a rookie for Atlanta during preseason named John Parker Wilson, I hope he makes the team.

It's called pre-season for a reason.. rolleyes Organize the team-- kick off the guys who don't cut it--Run new plays... I could go on and on..
PLUS we do not want Manning<3 to get hurt and not play for the rest of the season sad that would suck major!
