Well. Redhath was certainly bigger these days. M’al had always been vaguely aware that this would happen, but he swore that the sharding Blue was getting bigger while he was washing him! How unfair was that? Lifting a hand to brush back his hair, M’al belatedly realized that it wasn’t long enough to need that any more. Oh. Well… that was alright. Hair would grow back. At least S’van had managed to cut it so it didn’t look like he stuck his head in a grain thresher.
It was another one of those hazy Istan summer days, the ones where the sheer amount of heat vaporized just about anyone’s will to work. It certainly diminished M’al’s desire to do anything besides splash around in the water. A filthy dragon was certainly the best excuse ever on a day like this. It could only be more perfect if S’van was nearby and ready to swim, but… well… he was a Wingsecond now.
M’al, I need to be cleaned now, Redhath insisted, splashing his tail against the water. Even in his best days, the dragon was a bit short-tempered and he despised being kept waiting, but this absurd heat made things even worse! There was also the fact that the lake had become everyone’s favorite place to be. The Blue’s eyes swirled with untrusting orange and he glared at the unfamiliar dragons and people. He didn’t like them! Not at all… and they tended to distract His as well, especially when a particularly good-looking male walked by.
Well, that would not do! Redhath, relying on the methods he had learned as a baby, shoved his head into M’al’s back, trying to regain his attention. Mine, I need to be cleaned NOW! Of course, these days, a friendly nudge in the back would shove M’al several feet. Still, it got M’al’s attention anyway.

Are you trying to play with yours, Redhath? Mine is too focused for play sometimes!
A cheerful trumpet of greeting came from the teal colored dragonet as she splashed into the water, sending her thoughts to her grumpy clutchmate. This was the second time she'd seen a dragon she knew push their own rider. She really needed to try it. Of course, K'lan never did anything to warrant a push... In fact, the blonde was crashing into the lake just behind her, cleaning equipment at hand.
"Afternoon! M'al, right?" K'lan's wide, friendly grin was sent his way as she pushed Condoroth's playful snout away from her face, a short laugh as she received a spash for her efforts. "Seems like they always need to be washed, eh?"

Orange whirled more rapidly in Redhath’s eyes as the Green approached; he hated being caught off guard and being snuck up on by a dragon was the worst! Still, he tried to catch himself fairly quickly, pretending that he had meant for this to happen all along. No. I’m trying to get his attention. His mind does wander about so and it is far too small to be allowed out on its own, he said simply, knowing that His wouldn’t mind the insult. And, if M’al did mind, at least it would get his attention back.
M’al swatted the dragon before rolling his eyes. “And yet you still chose me, Red. What does that say about your mind?” Oh, yes. K’lan. He remembered her from that… dramatic first lesson. Smart enough, he supposed, but not smart enough to know when to stay quiet and keep her head down. Actually, he was grateful for that. If she and Rin hadn’t made a big deal out of things, M’al undoubtedly would have gotten off worse than he did.
“Yep, I’m M’al. And you’re K’lan and that lovely lady must be Condoroth. I’m fairly certain that Redhath here saves all of his growth for when I’m washing or oiling him, just to spite me.”
