A little spot of blue and white disrupted the dull brown green scenery as she went about her rounds. For anyone who knew this little disruption , they'd know that usually she blended in perfectly with the swamp. Tahki was a cub of action who loved to dive head first into the gunky thick mud of the swamp lands.
Yet here she was today being careful not to step in it hardly at all. Sure it was near impossible to travel the swamps and not get mud on your coat but Tahki was putting forth the effort.
Tahki carried a determined look on her face. Just what the heck was she trying to do? Where was her mother or any of her brothers or her sister? Why was she wandering the likes of the swamp with out anyone at least by her side.
Finally the cub reached a smooth clean flowing stream of water. Carefully Tahki knelt down and cleaned her paws, looking this way and that way as she did so.

Shaerar had wandered far this day, following the patterns of light across the ground - outlines of trees and branches and leaves further and further into the swamp until she was completed lost. When she realized this, she mewled for a few minutes, calling out for her mother when the rustle of someone approaching gave her pause and she instinctively hid.
As the blue and white cub dipped her paws into the water to clean them, Shae blinked and peered at her own muddy limbs. All of them were slicked with mud from her haphazard wandering and she giggled, stepping out of the bush to greet the stranger. "Hello! Why are you doing that...? They're just going to get dirty again..." She glanced around, up at the tall trees and sprawling foliage, "And.... do you know where this is? I'm lost...." Bashful, perhaps, would describe the tone and hesitation of her words.

Tahki could not have been more surprised, and the shock of seeing another was clearly etched out on her face. The cubs eyes were wide and her mouth was half open in a dumb founded way. The fact that it was another cub , and not a monster of a lizard, took a few seconds to sink in.
Phew.
"I'm trying to be bait," The cub gave the dark cub a smile.Tahki didn't really explain the rest just that she was trying to be bait? What the heck?
"Hmmm?" Tahki looked around, "Were in the swamps of course by a clean stream. Are you lost?" The blue cub blinked a few times, "Do you need some help getting back home?" Tahki tilted her head.

Shae blinked and giggled, "Bait? For what?" Boldly moving forward a few steps she then broke into a run and bounded at the other cub, rearing up to catch her about the neck, "Got you! You're good bait." Nodding, the young lioness back off, her front splattered with mud from the run and grinned at Tahki.
Then her ears drooped and she nodded again, glancing away, "Yeah... I don't know which way is home. Everything looks the same." Pursing her lips, she looked from side of the stream to the other and back to Tahki, "Do you know where the dens are?"

Tahki had not expected the little black cub to play attack her. Though the lioness supposed she deserved it for calling her self bait. Maybe she worked with the lizards.. hmmm. But now she had some mud on her... Oh well. Tahki smiled.
"Dens?" The lion tilted her head, " Yeah of course I do, I'm a brave explorer after all," Tahki puffed her chest out a little. She was proud to call her self a great explorer even though she had never left the swamps in her life.
"I can take you back to the dens but you gotta be careful of lizards," The blue lion pawed at Shae playfully. "They look small but they are capable of so much."
