Welp. Cordel was gone, and La was pulling double shift at the infirmary (with a few bribes in place to keep her superior from learning precisely what she was up to during his absence) to keep an eye on things and deal with the stupid the same way her teacher did. Which meant that she was halfway wearing herself out, and didn't really mind. She was more worried about Cordel than she let on, and finding other ways to occupy her time were good.
Like finally getting around to finding herself a roommate. She had left notice by word-of-mouth everywhere she could, but nobody had really answered it until recently. There had been one or two riders she had met only briefly; those, she elected not to accept, on the grounds that the last thing she wanted was someone with habits completely foreign to her.
And then there had been Zara. La had fussed with the idea a bit. After all, dragons of opposite genders living together was generally an indication of the animals' pairing. But La liked the rider, Isonth liked the dragon, and Isonth hadn't Flown yet. Any sevenday now, she had no doubt, but not yet. So it wasn't like there was any feasible way the dragons (or their riders) could be read as actual weyrmates.
Besides, La liked Zara. And had agreed to help move her things from their current place in Zara's forest weyr. Isonth had come along too, nearly skipping in happiness at the prospect of having a friend. I am glad they are joining us, Lanamine. It is far too lonely with all that bare space in the weyr.

They're almost here, Mine, Fuxith announced, craning his head out of the forest weyr to peer at the splotchy green and her rider. Despite his attempts at a dignified posture, the sight of the blue's head poking out of a weyr that could probably house two was borderline rediculous. Ignoring this, he warbled a greeting to Isonth. Hello, Isonth! You and yours are well?
I trust you've already said hello? Neatly placing the last of her belongings into a bag, Zara straightened, stretching a little to get the kinks out. Doubtless the weyr would probably go to a larger dragon that could use the space, and she'd made sure that it was clean enough to avoid complaint from an irked bronze- or brownrider. She'd miss the quiet, but La was a good person to be roommates with. After all, they were already friends. Striding to the edge of the weyr, she leaned out and waved.

"What ho!" La called out in greeting, waving back to Zara as her dragon raced ahead to see her friend again.
Fuxith! Good day! You and Yours are well, I hope? Isonth trilled loudly when she caught sight of the younger Blue, and she flared her wings happily, prancing up to the forest weyr and sniffing about curiously. She had been up to forest weyrs on occasion, but she hadn't been able to thoroughly investigate one, and she was very excited about the entire situation. I am glad ours have decided to share a weyr. It is so empty and boring there otherwise, she prattled on, giving Fuxith a draconic grin and sniffing him over thoroughly. You've gotten much bigger since last we spent any great amount of time together, she remarked, a gleam in her eye.
Isonth, stop it.
I am only making conversation, Lanamine!
I know what you're thinking. Stop it.
But you must admit, he is very handsome. You are very handsome, Isonth remarked to Fuxith, broadcasting that particular set of thoughts more loudly than her previous ones to Lanakirene. La shook her head and shrugged helplessly at Zara.
"She's like this," she said. "Wish I could stop it." Well, sort of. La didn't mind Isonth flirting. It was just that Isonth flirting made Lanakirene feel awkward, and well, Zara was a good friend and a bluerider and about to be La's weyrmate, FARANTH, NO. Weyr mate. ...Roommate. There. That was the word.
"So do you have crates? Boxes? Anything I can help carry?" she asked cheerily. "Many hands make light work, and all that."
I will help carry things! Isonth said brightly, turning and peering down at Zara. Would you tell Yours I say hello, Fuxith?

Fuxith certainly wasn't helping the matter with a jolt of surprised pleasure, before he recovered with a proud arch of his neck. Thank you very much, Isonth, he replied primly, neatly rearranging his wings along his back so as to show them to their best advantage. There was a sneaking feeling in the back of the blue's mind that this had to do with that Flight thing, but it would be horribly rude to reject such a nice compliment. I am much bigger, and faster and stronger too. I bet I could turn almost as well as you. Mine, Isonth says hello.
"It happens," Zara laughed, shaking her head. "The day a young green won't Rise is the day the moons match her in color, and that's a fact!" Steering the conversation away from that topic--if Isonth was proddy then La didn't need to be reminded of it at every turn--she turned and gestured at the pair of bags. "Just those two."

Isonth gave a snort of amusement, nipping playfully at Fuxith's flank. I am sure you have grown magninficently as a flier, she purred, though she had no memory of ever seeing Fuxith fly before. Nudging him affectionately on the shoulder, she turned back to listen to the conversation between Fuxith's and Hers.
"That's the truth," La answered, laughing along with Zara. When the other girl pointed out the bags, La picked one up and weighed it in her hands. It wasn't light, but neither was it difficult to carry; the sheer physicality of being a dragonrider made times like this a little easier. Slinging the bag over her shoulder, she reached down to take the other one as well.
"You pack light," she remarked. True, Zara hadn't been a dragonrider as long as La had, so she probably hadn't taken as much time as La had to gather all the little personal effects that cluttered La's half of what was now their weyr, but La was still surprised at only two bags.

I have, Fuxith affirmed, before Isonth's nudged caused a flustered flurry of rearranging himself neatly again. W-was that touching part of this? It was nice but it was not seemly but it was Isonth but--taking a firm grip on himself, he settled down on the ledge with a deep intake of breath. Breathe, Fuxith, breathe. Calm, controlled, restrained. Nothing to worry about. Nothing to fuss over. Mine says we are to live with you and Yours now. What is it like there? Not that he'd never been there before, but it'd been a while. And it was a good safe subject. Right?
Zara nodded, giving a light shrug. "I don't need much to keep going." Restraining the urge to bite her lip, she hoped Fuxith was holding up alright. As a chittering pair of green firelizards popped into the weyr, she gestured them to the blue with a strong 'follow' implication. Beryl wasn't likely to listen to this on her own, but Jade was responsible enough for her color and scolded the older one until she too was chirruping curiously up at Fuxith.

It is nice, Isonth answered enthusiastically, politely ignoring all of Fuxith's flustered fidgeting and focusing instead on summoning up an image of the weyr she would soon be sharing with the blue. It is not dark and dreary like most weyrs, Lanamine keeps it full of flowers and grass. I prefer this, she finished, projecting a few images of the efforts Hers made in an attempt to appease Isonth's griping about how dark the Weyr was.
La gave a short nod and smile in answer to Zara's explanation and watched the firelizards with interest, suddenly wondering where hers had got to. Odds were good that the fat bronze was sleeping or getting into trouble somewhere. She shook her head; it was a good thing Menalia was so charming and nonthreatening. "They're pretty," she remarked, gesturing to Zara's flitts even as Isonth noticed them and cooed with delight.
Oooooooh! Lanamine, they're darling! she announced, leaning down to sniff at Jade and Beryl.
They're green firelizards, Isonth. You've seen them before.
But they are just so darling! Where is ours? He should meet them.
He'll meet them soon enough. Come on, now. Readjusting the load and walking up to her dragon, she slung one of the bags over Isonth's neck and secured it to her riding straps. Isonth made no complaint and continued to croon at the flitts, giving Zara a quick pleased noise as well. La shook her head.
"We ready?"
