It had turned out to be a pretty nice day in the Pridelands - sure the morning had threatened a few showers, and the sky was still a tad overcast but sunshine and blue sky was peeking through the clouds and Lycaena..wasn't about to let the threat of a little rain ruin her afternoon.
Scrabbling out of the den's she dashed along the typical pathways and made her way into a meadow, it was one of her favorite places - wildflowers sprung up amidst the grass - which she was pleased to say was just tall enough to stalk about in virtually unseen - as long as one kept their tail and head down anyways. And stalking she was...chasing about after those fluttering bright colored insects which so closely resembled the mask on her very own face.
They were great fun to chase though she rarely caught one, and the little cub dissolved into mad giggles after a particularly spectacular leap on her part ended with her sprawled about in the grass where she'd tripped on a hidden log after landing. Thankfully due to the earlier showers the grass was nice and springy and despite the rough landing Lycaena wasn't hurt in the least.

-Her mind was heavy... Her best friends.. the girls she'd spent her entire life with... planning... playing. They were gone, and she hadn't been able to protect them. Her heart was broken, but what could she... a teenage lioness on her own do against a pack of full grown males? She could do nothing more than wait... And now.. help her mother raise Kweu's hoard of children.
With so many of them running about, she wasn't particularly surprised to run into one as she wandered as she thought. Ivory coat... and that spectacular butterfly mask... it was Lycaena.
Pushing a smile to her face, she stepped forward, calling out softly.- "Want some help catching those?" -She couldn't help but feel bad for the children.. not having their mother or father... even though she knew that their grandmother would do a great job caring for them. And besides.. a little playing with her niece might raise her mood a bit.-

Lycaena's head popped up as a voice floated out towards her, peering over the logs edge to see who it was that had found her. Ah it was her Aunt, smiling herself Lycaena jumped up to place her front paws on the log.
"I almost had that one" She stated "They fly really fast" Scrambling over the log she gamboled over to her aunt, although the older lioness was smiling Lycaena couldn't help but think she seemed a bit down, maybe she'd gotten in trouble for something? It was hard to say - no one really told cubs her any anything - and they all seemed especially careful around and her siblings, as though any more worrisome news might break them or something. Lycaena thought it was all very silly really, sure it was sad she didn't have parents - but she had her brothers and sisters and the rest of her family and Lycaena was not one to dwell on the bad parts of life.
"what'cha doing?" She asked her aunt, curious as to why the older lioness was wandering about.

"Mhmmm. I saw that." -She nodded matter of factly. The cub had been pretty close before she made her less then graceful plop into the grass. Butterflies were elusive, but catchable. Not like those darndable flies. Those things were super quick and annoying!
Tail tip twitching slowly back and forth, she waited as the ivory cub pulled close.- "Thinking mostly." -She knew it was a boring answer for a cub... it was a boring answer for HER really! But alas.
Shifting her paws a bit, she added, lightly teasing.- "Gotta think up new good stories to tell. With so many of you guys we might just run out if we're not careful." -Though Miki LOVED to tell stories, she'd never really pondered over the possibility of taking her mother's place as pridal storyteller down the line. Hmmm....-

Ly might have been prouder if Miki has actually seen her catch one - but hey a near miss was better then a far one right? Seemed like a good assumption to her anyways and she preened slightly, quite forgetting that her Aunt had also seen her fall, completely unimportant.
"You older guys seem to spend allot of time thinking" Ly stated with typical cub wisdom, adults she had seen - and teens too she supposed spent an awfully large amount of time thinking or worrying over things - Ly wasn't exactly sure what could take so much time to think over but figured she'd figure it out as he got older - after all everyone one else seemed to. "Its far more fun to play" she finished, thinking that adult life seemed rather dull compared to her own.
Tipping her head slightly Ly scoffed slightly "you and Grandma will never run out of stories...thats like...impossible!" Ly was fairly certain that the sun rose and set on her grandma and couldn't imagine a time when she'd run out of stories.
