The guild is really quiet nowadays, so I've decided to make a new thread.
Do your parents/friends approve of Dir en grey? My parents have forbidden me from watching their videos because of the 'gothic' imagery.
My friends like them, though. But that's only because they love Kyo... stare

My friends love Dir en grey, well, those who actually know who they are. My dad hates them, but my mom likes Kaoru. For those who understand Tagalog, she says, "Ang guapo naman!" whee

No offence, but any person that forbids their kid to watch some PVs because they have "OMG GOTH SATAN WORSHIPPERS" or something, sounds like an............. neutral Whenever I hear stories like that from people, it just makes me realize that my own parents aren't that bad. Sure, they're kind of scary and strict, but they're not.... shallow and stupid. They just find Dir en grey and other J-rock bands amusing. They don't really get "why Japanese?" but at least they respect my opinion and allow me to watch/read/listen to just about everything.
I've gotten my mom to like hypodermic syringe and other songs from Macabre. She prefers Malice Mizer though (so does my dad.) I've also gotten her to like some Cali Gari.
Er.. my friend thinks DEG is hot! xd She's not very interested in their music. She liked the MISSA CD and Berry... and I gave her a copy of Macabre, but I don't think she's had time to listen to it yet. domokun

Mommy thinks they're freaks, and I could deal with that fine, but she makes a point to insult them to drag me into conversation with her stupid husband.
It's like I'm three, "Go show John that's a man on your shirt, honey."
No, how 'bout you fooch off.
Ugh. They have a small cult at my school, but the majority of people just like to give me funny looks. 'specially the juniors because we all just know how they're so high and mighty they should dictate my dress choice, style, and taste in music.
But of course.
The majority of teachers don't like 'em either. 'cept DiVitto, but DiVitto is like a God, so it's expected that he be cool about it.

My father thinks Shinya is a great drummer and like their music. He also likes the sounds Kyo makes when he's onstage... smile My friends hate them... surprised How could they! In my school I think I'm the only one who actually listen to japanese music. That is kinda sad.

My parents think that anything i like that's a little, well... abnormal... is stupid and flip me constant s**t about it. My current J-rock obsession is no exception whatsoever... I've learned to tune them out though... usually by turning up my stereo xd
n e way... my friends are, interested, i guess? the only friend i really have who's into it as hardcore as i am is Brenli. Other friends see the pictures on my binders and notebooks, and the clothes i wear that are inspired by them, and think it's cool. But they don't get into the music themselves. sad

I'd be satisfied if I didn't get freaky looks everytime I walk into my physics class. Those people kill me the most.
heart The Japanese class shows Diru some love, though.

My mom loves Dir en grey. XD My dad is sort of....well, I don't think he cares, and some of my friends love them. Others of them know I'm obsessed but don't really listen to them. At my school, a lot of people act like there's something wrong with me and comment about Dir en grey looking like women and things. Which annoys me and pisses me off, but I try to ignore it. ^^;

In fact, I completely agree with you. Just because I watch a video that is considered 'dark', doesn't mean I'm going to run around desecrating churches and killing animals. sweatdrop I choose to ignore my parents rules for now. Heh. I love them and all, but they should be more accepting. 3nodding

My dad doesn't know, and that's TOTALLY OKAY. Friends = Don't think much of it. Either think it's weird, a few think it's scary, but for the most part, everyone's indifferent. Except for Sibs.

My parents have yet to hear them and I never will let them since they don't even like American rock. My brother finds DeG to be pretty cool when I do listen to them while he's around the room. (We share a room since he moved back in.) My sister snaked one of their songs from my computer and then yelled across the hall,"This song is in another language. Is there something wrong with my Winamp?" She's such a blonde. My friends have seen pictures of DeG, commenting that 'they look like chicks' or 'holy crap, that's a guy.' A few of them, however, like their look and music.
