DISCLAIMER: I am aware of the fact that this should probably be in the chatterbox. But I felt that I should put it in the main forum where the wonderful captains and moderators would be most likely to see it. Feel free to move it anyway - I understand.

How might I

Well, I feel like I am unable to be active in this guild. I feel this way for a couple of reasons.
1. Though I have read Salvatore's works (most recently the Hunter's Blades trilogy), I feel that I am not familiar enough with the characters to properly participate in the discussions. And though I love Drizzt and the Forgotten Realms world, I'm just not into the fantasy genre lately.
2. This guild is intended for those who are passionate about Drizzt much as others are passionate about other books. I am simply not passionate. I like Drizzt, and I mean no disrespect, but this Guild requires a level of interest and commitment which I am unable to provide.

Please share your thoughts with me. Should I remain a member of this guild, or should I withdraw and allow others to enjoy the Guild more than I am capable of?

The Drizzt series used to be my all time favorite series, but then the past few years I've actually found better series that I love and feel more at home with; however, I do enjoy this series and it's characters.

I'm saddened that you are thinking of leaving, but it's ultimately your choice. I, personally, feel that as the guild captain (on my mule right now) should have reread the series over the summer, since the last time I read the beginning of the series was probably.... oh....7 years ago, but I scanned through the books 2 years ago. I'm fuzzy on the details, but I try my best to open the books up, go, "ah here's what we're talking about," but that's because I feel like I'm not a good guild captain when I don't have a clue what someone is talking about in one of the books.

Your reasons are sound enough, and thanks for posting this where we can see this. Also, thanks for the disclaimer (I love blunt statements - so much easier to know what on earth is going on!) I will be sad that a newer member will leave, since you've been a wonderful and active member, but it's perfectly understandable. ^_^

First - darkdoom, I agree with everything Yuki said. Just because you do not have a passion for the books, doesn't mean you cannot participate in the guild. I haven't even read past book 9 (or was it 10?), and a good majority of the time I have other things on my mind, so I don't even post as much as I think I should. But I still have something to contribute to the guild, and I believe that you do too. But as Yuki said it is, in the end, your decision. We would be glad to have you stay, but if you do at any time feel you need to be away from the guild at any time, please feel free to notify us in the sticky about absences.

Second - Yuki, should be perhaps tweak that rule about not posting in the main forum? I do believe that something important like this could be properly posted in the main forum, as long as the members keep it to a minimum.

How might I

Thank you both very much. You make me feel welcome here. I suppose my concern is less focused on the fact that I am not very passionate about Drizzt, and more on the fact that (primarily due to the aforementioned issue) I am unable to be as active in this guild as I feel I should be.

*raises hand* question.

There a limited number of guilds one can be in at a time?

I don't post too often here. I mean I get real excited and post a lot when a new book comes out, or I reread a trilogy or something. But in the end I think its fine that I post here and there every few days and participate in the guild events and such.

Though lately I've just not been on Gaia much at all.

How might I

If there is a limit to the number of guilds one can join, then it is ridiculously high, since my guild count is 16 (I own one, am vice captain of two others, and moderate one more).

To a mod: I believe this topic may be moved to the chatter box now.

I'm in something like, 22 guilds... so I doubt there's a limit.

I'll move it.

Yeah, Hane, this type of thread to catch the Mods attention is absolutely a good thing to post in the main forum. Um, yeah. Uh, this fall quarter, I won't be able to get on as much as I'm on now, so don't worry if you all can't be active all the time. I understand there's school and jobs and lives.
